The Star Inn has great food and great service. There is a pub and a restaurant that served everything from fresh cold oysters to Sunday roast. Everything was fabulous and the staff were polite, funny and engaging. The presentation was outstanding and all the food came perfectly cooked and didn't take too long. The desserts were also incredible and even...

Just realised that due to my age and that there have been couple of sleeps between visiting The Star and writing the review I think I have got the Bar Manager's name wrong! I think that his name is Martin and not Michael as referred to in the post. He was brilliant - he knows who he is and more...

On a wet cold day it was great to enter The Star and have a warm welcome from behind the bar. The fires burning also made a great contribution. We were shown to our table and enjoyed first class service with excellent food. Being Sunday we had beef and pork dishes. Beautifully presented with great taste. Desert was equally delicious....

This delightful, old inn used to be on our list of favourite lunch venues. Having tried the restaurant some years back we settled into a routine of arriving early and bagging a good spot in the bar. While the food was the same as the restaurant, the service was more relaxed and we loved the cosy atmosphere, especially during the...

We had the tasting menu at lunchtime at the star inn, I booked it for a birthday present for my fiancé, and it really was a treat! We were really spoilt by the staff and felt really relaxed and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. All of the courses were delicious especially the pea and ham soup! The only thing...

Had a lovely stay at the Star recently. We ate in the dining room for a late Sunday lunch and it was a stunning plate of food. My hubby left a bit as it was a generous portion but regretted not eating it later on the evening he said it tasted so good. The staff were amazing..Martin the lovely Barman...

We really do love coming here and as we were unable to book for Christmas this year we thought New Year it is then. We booked two rooms in Cross House Lodge for two nights as my son and his wife were going to join us too. The whole stay was bliss. The food was divine [this goes without saying-...

My all time favourite place to eat, an accolade not easily won. On every occasion the Star has delivered exemplary service (welcoming and friendly and not stuffy and overbearing) and dishes to die for. I didn't think the Star would beat my all time favourite of theirs - saffron risotto, but the black pudding and foie gras was a fabulous...

Lovely place to stay, very accommodating. Nice room, very comfy and quiet with the honesty bar just down the hall where you can enjoy a nice drink and a bite to eat in front of the fire. Great breakfast too, recommend having a little of everything as it's quite tasty.

There is no doubt that the pub itself is charming and over the years we have stayed in their accommodation in the village and have had several meals at the restaurant. We returned after a few years away and excited that it had regained its Michelin Star for food. The food itself on the day was only average and we...
