The Admiral Rodney Hotel, Eatery & Coffee House is celebrated for its cleanliness, with guests frequently commending the immaculate rooms and public spaces, despite an isolated remark about cleaning standards. Its central location is another highlight, offering easy access to beaches and attractions, and the convenience of ample parking. While the hotel's rooms are generally appreciated for their comfort and tidiness, some guests have raised concerns about noise and the need for maintenance. Although the services provided have faced criticism for disorganization and occasional rudeness, positive encounters with efficient staff have also been noted. The atmosphere is well-liked, with rooms boasting unique styling, though a few suggest a decor refresh. The hotel's value proposition is recognized by many, though it's not without its detractors who have faced billing issues and view some services as costly.

I booked the Admiral Rodney Hotel, Eatery and Coffee House as the location was very close to my relatives, who live in Horncastle and the surrounding area. My husband, Mum, Dad and I were travelling from Liverpool for a long weekend to attend a surprise party for my Auntie and Uncle, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. The reviews and the location were both really positive. Much to how my my surprise, my Mum who grew up in Lincolnshire had told me after booking it my Grandmother worked at the hotel when it was called the Rodney many many years ago. They also had a little dog named after the hotel called Rodney but he was nicknamed Roddie. So I already felt it was going to be a special place.

We were met with a friendly smile and first impressions were wonderful. The reception and breakfast/restaurant area were beautiful and clean. Lots of parking spaces at the rear of the hotel as well as outside the front.

We booked two superior rooms and they were fantastic, very comfortable and had everything we could possibly need. There was even a little note from Sam and the housekeeping team to welcome us to the hotel which I thought was a nice touch. A hairdryer, iron and ironing board are provided in the room as well as a selection of yummy biscuits and plenty of tea, coffee and milk. There's plenty of storage and hanging space and curtains which block out the light which is ideal when staying during the summer months.

The only negative for me was on the first night. Whoever was staying in the room above ours made quite a lot of noise walking around which disturbed us a little but the next night it was fine.

The breakfast was plentiful and hot - so much choice. I'm sorry I didn't order a lovely coffee during my stay as there are lovely little glasses with maltesers inside, just to make it even more special. Next time!!!!

The surprise party went off without a hitch, a wonderful catch up with family and friends, a trip down memory lane for my mum taking us around Horncastle and a wonderful wonderful stay in the Admiral Rodney. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending it should you wish to visit this beautiful part of the world.

Thank you to all the staff. You have made an extra special visit even more special and we look forward to staying again in the future.

Best wishes Lisa and Jay Craney

This was a second short break staying at the Admiral Rodney, and like the first it did not disappoint.

Our tariff was based on three nights BB and evening meal on the Winter Saver offer. Although just two of us, we were given a family room. As before, we found the room very clean and well appointed. A small, but well laid out bathroom offered a bath and shower with modern lighting and hand rails where possibly needed. The standard of decor was very good.

Our inclusive ‘deal’ allowed us to pick from the complete restaurant menu, which was good value really. If you walk in off the street, I would have questioned some of the food prices. Simple starters and desserts could be expensive. The poached egg and mushroom on toast was very basic for £7.95. If you are a conservative eater, beware of the tiny beetroot cured salmon starter at £8.75. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and I couldn’t eat it I’m afraid. A lovely crumble tart was on the menu, but some diners (including myself), requested custard but were refused. A bit of ice-cream balanced on top is no substitute.

Although the menu was reasonably extensive, I think planners should anticipate what customers enjoy, rather than dreaming up new variations. The cheese board option for £10 was definitely disappointing (just two thin slices of different blue cheeses and one slice of Cheshire). Extremely underwhelming!

After the first night I didn’t really fancy any of the starters, but selected onion bhajis from the grazing menu. They were delicious!

We had a ground floor room due to mobility issues & were delighted to find a very comfortable bed & a power shower that left you feeling invigorated. Clean throughout to a very high standard. The staff were helpful, pleasant, & cheerful. Our full English breakfast was delicious. Car parking was secure & close to entrance thanks to disabled bays. We will be back later in the year & feel confident we will be well looked after once again. Thank you to all concerned.

Hotel itself is lovely. Getting slightly old so lots of creaking floors and doors. Only one lift which has seen better days. Upon arrival we added breakfast which was nice enough for £12.50 each. Plenty to choose from continental wise and a hot meal too. There was a Christmas party 2 doors down from our room when we stayed the night and it was fairly loud which wasn’t great for our baby’s nights sleep nor ours. When we checked out and paid our bill for breakfast/add ons we were charged £2500 not £25. The member of staff clearly wasn’t paying attention or just wasn’t careful enough when charging the card on file. Luckily enough we noticed before we left the area but were told they couldn’t do anything about it and it has been cancelled from their end but as it had already been processed we had to wait. Considering it’s Christmas and that money was with-held by the bank for 3-5 working days was absolutely disgraceful because of this hotel. It was a bad end to a lovely weekend visiting family for us.
This has definitely put us off staying here again due to the lack of attention paid by staff.

Firstly please accept my sincere apologises. I'm sorry the noise disturbed you, being the festive period we do have parties over the busy weekend days. Both myself and my receptionist apologised to you in regards to the payment and cancelled this as soon as possible. My receptionist is very contentious and this is the only time the decimal point has been missed on any payment. Whilst I completely understand how much this would effect you, we did everything we could to rectify this as quickly as possible and did recommend speaking to your bank as some banks do work quicker than others. We have since this has happened double checked every inputted figure to ensure this doesn't happen again in the future.

Christmas Eve until Boxing Day for a festive break. We arrived with our two dogs and were quickly booked in. Our room was very spacious with two large dog beds, bowls, bottled water and bags of Christmas dog treats left in our room for our dogs, which we thought was a lovely touch. For us, a stocking of Hotel chocolates, fresh coffee bags, Teapigs teabags, hot chocolate, biscuits and chocolate bars.
We were given a voucher for a glass of Prosecco or Mulled wine each from the bar.
Included was a 3 course meal from the menu which was lovely. We left our dogs chilling in our room after a couple hours at the beach whilst we ate. We took our dogs into the bar in the evening, where they received a warm welcome from the staff.
Our room was a lovely temperature and we got a restful nights sleep.
Christmas Day started with a full breakfast off the menu along with continental choices, served by cheery , welcoming staff. Christmas dinner service was a little confused as we were served desserts before dinner but this was soon rectified but we did have to wait a long time for drinks and our desserts, this was due to staff change over. Not a problem as we weren’t going anywhere.
A buffet was served Christmas evening, which was plentiful and really tasty.
We left Boxing Day after another lovely breakfast feeling rested and content.
We will definitely do this again.

The recent one-night stay for a nearby function was our third at the Rodney, so it's clear that we find the accommodation favourable – very favourable in fact. We appreciate the quality and relaxed ambience of the public rooms, the restaurant, bar and coffee bar, and the spotlessly clean and well appointed bedrooms. One can sleep at ease knowing the car is safe in the large, secure car park at the rear.
We ate in the beautiful restaurant, and as an old Yellerbelly living out of county, I was particularly impressed by the taste of their locally made Lincolnshire sausages (3) with caramelised onion mashed potato. On my first ever visit I had chosen my namesake's dish from the grill, the Rodney Burger, and I sent my compliments to the chef on that occasion. It seems to have morphed into 'The Admiral's Lincoln Red Beef Burger', one to try on my next visit.
We are looking forward to being able to spend a little longer at the Rodney, as it's ideally placed for us to explore the Wolds area after several decades' absence from Lincolnshire. Booking a room has become easier by selecting one directly on the hotel's web site – previously we used an online booking agent, and again after getting no joy from phoning the group's reservation service. This feature and the website design are big improvements.

Myself and my husband stayed here on our wedding night. Prior to booking, I emailed because it claimed there was a minimum two night stay and we only required it for one night. I enquired whether as it was our wedding night, could they make an exception. I was told no and I understood this. Although, some of our wedding guests were also staying there and were able to only book the one night. So there was a lack of consistency of the rules.

A second downside was that upon having lunch in the restaurant, my mother ordered a non-alcoholic lager. She was then recommended by the waitress an alternative. At the end of the meal, my mother complimented the non alcoholic lager that was recommended and the waitress corrected her and said it wasn’t non alcoholic, it was just low calorie. I think we were shocked that upon ordering a non-alcoholic, an alcoholic one was suggested instead! The waitress didn’t comprehend the major issue in what she had done. My mother was driving, which is why she ordered non-alcoholic!

Firstly please accept my sincere apologises. We do have a 2 night minimum stay over weekends. If we then closer to the date we still have rooms to sell we then would possibly release individual nights to be able to be booked. I'm sorry if this wasn't communicated. I think the member of the team must of confused the situation, we do not have low calorie beer/lager I think what they would of been trying to say is, some lagers are 0% alcohol and a couple are alcohol removed products which leave a trace of alcohol, these are then advertised as 0.05% abv. This said I will speak to all team members to ensure they fully understand these products and are confident in explaining to guests. I'm sorry again for any confusion caused.

I had a lovely stay with my 3 dogs and the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating.
The hotel is right in the middle of Horncastle with plenty of shops and places to go/eat right on the front doorstep. The back of the hotel is more quiet with a large grassed seating area and large carpark.
Inside the hotel, they have set rooms and set tables in the restaurant for guests with dogs and guests without, so you can have a comfortable stay even if you don't have or want a 4 legged friend.
The rooms were lovely with very comfortable beds, plenty of storage, an area to sit and relax and a nice bathroom. The water pressure in the bathrooms is very high so the taps and the shower come on a bit strong but I would rather too much water pressure than not enough and just took a sec to get used to.
The food in the restaurant was reasonably priced and so were the drinks. All the meals we had there were lovely and the setting is just as nice.
The only small issue we had in the whole trip was that both rooms we booked had issues where we could hear the tv etc from neighbouring rooms.
Other than that it was a great trip in a lovely little town and the hotel really made the difference to our trip.
Definitely recommending this to friends and likely to come back myself too.

This was a 2 night B&B stay with Secret Escapes (£65 per night) and very good value it was too. Check in was smooth and friendly and we were given our key and directed to the small lift that was handy. The room was cosy and warm and although the bathroom was smallish it had everything you need including a tub (shower over top) with good quality towels (and plenty of them) and toiletries. There isn't a fridge but there is a kettle with a good array of tea/coffee/chocolate and some very nice biscuits. The staff are also happy to give you a ice bucket if you bring any wine etc. with you. We ate in the restaurant both nights and the food was tasty and plentiful and the breakfast was excellent both the full english and the eggs royal. The staff were wonderful, every one we met were friendly and professional including the cleaning staff who were kind and cheerful and did an excellent job of keeping the room and bathroom clean and tidy. The only reason I have given 4* and not 5 is on Sunday night all of the dirty towels and bedding were left in the vestibule by reception and it smelt really damp and unpleasant they need to find a different place for them, its not a good first impression, however, I'm sure they will sort asap. Great value hotel and would recommend to anyone.

Easy to find large free car park at the back of the hotel, check in was really quick and the lady on reception was so friendly and really professional.
Requested a high floor and that’s what I received.
Really clean nice sized room, comfortable bed, large TV, good sized bathroom and loads of tea & coffee.
Booked into the restaurant which had a really great atmosphere, friendly staff and a stunning menu with plenty of choice.
Breakfast was amazing with a great menu, full breakfast was superb.
On check out, the lady I spoke to was amazing and really helpful pointing out various room options in different parts of the hotel for my next visit.
My work takes me to different parts of the UK and I stay in many chained Hotels which are seriously expensive, sole less, really poor staff and not really a nice experience.
This place is amazing and a truly fantastic hotel experience.
Well done the Admiral Rodney, I will be returning soon.
