Annual visit for a Christmas lunch - and not disappointed. Apparently a change of ownership, but food and service still very good. Very nice to be able to hang around and enjoy a few refreshments after lunch without being hurried.

90 people in total for a Christmas party. Service, excellent, food amazing. We had a great night. I must say I've been visiting Astley Bank for 20 years plus and I have NEVER been disappointed. I will certainly be back in 2017.

Met my friend here today for light lunch and a few drinks whilst we exchanged Christmas presents. I can't fault the attention of the staff but ambience was zilch. No background music and no other guests. I questioned black napkins, (at Christmas!), and was told they were to match gold and black crackers. My light meal was far smaller than...

I spent one night at Astley Bank Hotel, on a mid-week business trip. Very nice place in beautiful gardens. Quiet surroundings. The room was quiet and completely adequate and had the expected amenities. The restaurant was very good and the food was tasty.

This charming house has been simpathetically converted to a stylish country house type hotel, which was a pleasure to spend a weekend night in. The staff were pleasent and helpfull with good service and food. Both Sunday Lunch (see separate review) and cooked breakfast. Our room in the main house was a generous size and well furnished, however not sure...

A wonderful hotel, cannot say enough about the whole experience from the moment we stepped into reception. The staff were a joy to meet, the food fantastic and the rooms clean and very comfortable. A must for anyone travelling to stay and experience.

From the moment we arrived for our 9 day stay we felt welcomed and comfortable in the surroundings. Friendly, courteous and attentive staff was at hand throughout. Spacious clean bedroom with modern ensuite exactly to our liking. Inhouse restaurant 'Othellos' served freshly cooked breakfast and the evening dinner was superior to any Michelin star establishment. Would certainly stay again and...

My husband and I got married at Astley Bank in Sept 2016. We had a fantastic day and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We mainly dealt with Jason and Christine, both of whom did exactly what they said they were going to do, exactly when they said they were going to do it. Lots of people say...

The town of Darwen is unprepossessing to say the least, so what a surprise when, having relied on TA, I found this gem. The best thing about it is the staff, particularly, Vicki, Lucy and Paul, but also the food which is excellent. The duck was so good I had it two nights' running, as I did the crevettes to...

Stayed here for 2 nights while attending a wedding at the hotel. The staff were welcoming, friendly and did everything possible to make us feel at home. We’d had a difficult journey, arriving after 9.00pm, but the hotel offered to provide us with a bar meal. Room was nice, slightly on the small size, but I understood that the rooms...
