A four star country house hotel providing luxury accommodation at the heart of the fabulous Ribble Valley. Our big idea for bringing this magnificent 15th Century manor house back to life was to take it back to its roots and make it feel like a home again. Somewhere that looks and feels like it belongs to somebody. Stunning interior design and decoration perfectly complement the ancient architectural features to create a contemporary country house hotel. Both effortlessly beautiful and unashamedly romantic. The ambience is quite unique. It is certainly luxurious and feels exclusive but the luxury and exclusivity are open to all. From a relaxing morning coffee or afternoon tea, to lunch or dinner and for everything in between.

Magnificent place. So what was good - the location, the ambience, the building which is superband worth wandering about if you visit and the staff who are brilliant. My visit was a Jamess place offer and the food menu for dinner was more limited and that is what is expected especially if you are taking advantage of a brilliant offer. Having said that, what was on offer was only limited and not by obvious quality. The whole stay in every way was brilliant and look forward to future visits.

We booked Afternoon Tea at Mitton Hall to celebrate a friends birthday. The food was well presented and very tasty. Amazing Chocolate cake and superb scones accompanied by a varied selection of sandwiches, mini Lemon Meringue and Orange Macaroon. The service was exemplary. Thank you to Frankie who looked after us so well. A very pleasant helpful young man who was a great ambassador for Mitton Hall.

Our daughter had surprised us with an extravagant gift of an afternoon champagne tea at the prestigious Milton Hall in the stunning Ribble Valley. We were thrilled and eagerly anticipated indulging in the elegant atmosphere and delicious treats, especially at the cost of £70. However, upon arrival, our excitement quickly turned to disappointment as we found the food and atmosphere to be of extremely poor quality. The finger sandwiches, which included basic ham, stringy beef, and tasteless salmon, were slightly stale and lacked any flavour, the food was clearly from a budget brand. Additionally, the atmosphere was far from the luxurious experience we were expecting, it was gloomy and dismal & needs updating. Overall, the experience did not meet our expectations and fell short of the high four star standard advertised on their website.

Recently did an overnight stay at Mitton Hall, initially booked as we were attending a wedding locally which sadly was cancelled, but as we had already paid for the room, decided to go anyway. First impressions were a beautiful building, plenty parking in a nice location. An unmanned reception left us in some doubt as to what to do next. Eventually welcomed by a very matter of fact male receptionist. Our room ( in total contrast to the 17th century building) was very small and decorated with plastic and glass furniture giving a cheap and less than classy room completely out of keeping with the rest of the beautiful building. Also showing signs of damp and plenty spiders cobwebs. Despite the radiator being turned off, the room fan on full and the small windows opened the heat in the room was overbearing and prevented both having a good nights sleep. Now for the good: we ate in the restaurant and the food was fabulous- hats off to the chef who made the best cheese fondue I’ve ever tasted and the hugest salmon en croute we ve seen!! Can’t comment on dessert as couldn’t fit one in! Breakfast also really good with quality ingredients - in fact so good we called at the butchers on our way home to buy their sausages!!! All the staff we met following check in were friendly, attentive and accommodating. However, in spite of the staffs hard work and commitment obviously this hotel is visibly understaffed and appears to be balancing on a precipice. We would return for their food but not their standard bedrooms -

Christmas Day dinner was charged at £125 a head and was utterly dreadful. Never every again! We did not complain on the day as another family were complaining to the female restaurant manager in reception and she was not providing them with a particularly professional or sympathetic response ('you should have told me during the meal so I could put it right'). You can understand that people will not likely complain during a meal because they are afraid about what may happen to the rest of their food if they do. In summary, We had to chase what time the meal was at as this had never been confirmed in any booking. The starter, braised pork cheek was freezing cold on arrival, yet we had waiting until 2:30pm for it to arrive (despite being told that we would dine at 1:30pm). The main did not arrive for over a further hour until 3:40pm - the main meal was lukewarm. We did not even stay for the deserts as given the timings above it would have been likely that these would not have been served for a further hour, and it would have been 5pm by the time we had them and could leave. A four hour duration for a 3 course meal is not acceptable. Many staff were stood around outside the kitchen door throughout when there were plenty of tables to clear. A member of the bar team asked us when the mains had been served if we wanted further drinks. I asked for our table water to be replenished and was told 'I don't do that, another member of staff will do it for you'. A bar member who cannot serve water but was quite happy to take money for more drinks. Even the singer had finished and left by the time the mains were served and asked everyone to give the staff a round of applause - I found this very patronising given you could tell people were utterly fed up of waiting by the number of people in the room sat on their mobile phones. The level of service is unthinkable for a hotel that is used to catering for significant numbers of guests at weddings and this should have been executed well in comparison to other venues. I wrote to complain afterwards, didn't bother to reply. My advice, avoid, avoid, avoid!

On my wife's birthday we went to Mitton Hall for afternoon tea. The dining room is really pleasant and relaxing . The staff were attentive throughout and the food , a selection of sandwiches , pastries , cakes etc were first class. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Beautiful venue but poorly run and terrible place to stay in. Bar staff are completely clueless, don't bother using any measurements but charge you large for everything whether or not you ask for a small. If you ask for a whiskey straight up, they pour a dribble in again without measuring then stick ice in it to make it look more and charge a double. They apparently don't understand when you challenge it. One guy ordered a gin and tonic and a pint of peroni and the bartender poured the tonic in the peroni. There's clearly been zero training at all. The room we stayed in was really small for £120 for one night. We had stayed in an £80 room at a hotel nearby which was infinitely nicer, bigger and had the best shower. The shower only dribbled out at mitton as was the case in multiple of our friends rooms. There are dogs on the farm next to the venue that bark all night long and the wind comes through the windows banging the blinds so the sleep is not good. The venue had allocated us a room to get ready in but whilst we were enjoying festivities nearby, they decided to then host a sit down meal in said room and moved all our personal belongings without asking or telling us. We weren't given a time to vacate this room, our understanding was that this had been paid for by the bridal party and was ours for the evening. The next morning was spent trying to find each of our items again. It's a shame the staff let down this beautiful venue. It's not somewhere I would consider going again and definitely not somewhere I would stay again.

Booked for Christmas day for 3 of us and it was a shambles. It took an hour to be served the first course. I specifically asked for no cheese on the soup and it arrived with cheese. The soup was lukewarm, as was my son's starter. After another hour the main course arrived. A portion of tasteless, overcooked turkey with nearly cold vegetables. Most of this meal was left and being so disappointed we departed without staying any longer for dessert or coffee. We did complain and the drinks were taken off the bill but this in no way made up for the total disaster of the day. We were looking forward to a special day and for the price paid it should have been but turned out anything but.

Unfortunately we found this year’s Christmas stay disappointing. We stayed during Christmas last year and had the most wonderful time. The food was out of this world and service was fantastic. It felt amazing value for money but wasn’t replicated this year. This year we could see there was a lot of cut backs. The food was no where near as good in the Brasserie than last year (bar food is lovely though). The Christmas Day menu had a few odd choices like it was trying to hard to be posh. I was never asked how I’d like my beef fillet cooked and it arrived rare. The ‘King Scallops’ was my chosen starter yet I got a rather pathetic 1 small scallop on my plate despite it being plural on the menu. The previous night a £12 duck breast starter was the tiniest 1 slice of duck. The sorbet pallet cleanser was a strange choice and quite a risk in terms of most people enjoying it - a goats cheese and elderflower sorbet was very bizarre and inedible for our table. I believe there is a new chef this year and unfortunately the food or menu wasn’t as good as the last year (I would love to know where last years chef has gone!). Despite the Christmas stay (total of £725 per room) adverting dinner included on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day they fail to mention that you can only have £25’s allocation worth on the small print or in person. Which on Christmas Eve barely covered a main course alone! We had to investigate what we were allowed to order or what was included as even the waiters weren’t sure. My Boxing Day meal was a beef roast but the quality of the striploin was poor, really rough and chewy - hard work to cut with a knife! The wine quality had changed from last year also, despite still being high prices I could tell the White Pinot Grigio was a different cheaper bottle and tasted poor for the £25 price. Last years was a lovely wine. To get a decent bottle you have to pay between £32-45. Staff are all lovely and very polite but even the service wasn’t as good - you could tell the staff were simply stretched and there was too little of them, with some temporary staff not having a clue what to do. We were left a number of times waiting a while for drinks and looking around for any waiters who were nowhere to be seen. The restaurant at breakfast and dinner were empty with no staff around at various points. Even our meals were taking 3 hours to finish. Service was painfully slow at times for both dinner and breakfast. Shoutout to James who was 10/10 on Christmas Day and really looked after us at the bar. The rooms are starting to look a bit scruffy in places, dirty carpets and windows. My shower pressure was very poor. Bar and seating areas starting to feel worn. You can charge drinks to the room but beware that it is really hard work to see an itemised bill at the end of your stay. The bill they print off just has a list with no date or time stamps of the transactions. We noticed a few errors has been done that needed to be amended. A shame as last year it was really special, but this year it seems to have lost its sparkle and is starting to look worn in some areas which spoils its character. Overall I would return for a drink at the bar area by the open fires and the bar food menu only as I will say that is the best of the place. We won’t be returning for the Christmas stay.

What a shame, service just was not the same as previous visits, told to go the bar for drinks, cleaning and hoovering going on around us whilst sitting by the fire ,door left wide open for deliverers on bitterly cold morning, coffe just plonked infront of us , no sugar no milk, everything seemed too much trouble, room cold heating luke warm, just lost the wow factor.
