I was on a business trip and I usually like to stay in smaller independent hotels in the country. On the second night of my trip I booked into Tonge Barn. It looked great- modern, full of character and clean. The first bad experience came when I turned up and there was no one to let me in. I was...

I have to say that from looking at the pictures before we arrived I was expecting something special but what you don't realise is that the rooms shown are the specific barn rooms and not the standard ones. Our room was incredibly hot although the air conditioning made this manageable, the noise from the trains wasn't ideal and to be...

Stayed here in late May for 2 nights. The Barn is unique & quirky, friendly staff who were very welcoming and cooked up a decent English breakfast. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable although the bed was a little too soft for my liking. There was plenty of parking and a lovely garden with a stream at the bottom. Train...

Stayed here for one night when on business in the area. A delightful location, comfy beds, air con and all the other usual perks you expect in the rooms. The owner cooks a few meals in the evening but if these aren't to your taste there are plenty of other places nearby. Staff are all very friendly and accommodating, I...

The Tonge Barn is really a beautifully unique stay; the rooms, the location and the building itself really surpassed my expectations. The girl that welcomed us was very friendly and helpful and my boyfriend and I had a really wonderful, relaxing escape from the city which is exactly what we were after. The bed was so comfy, it gets a...

Lovely location, quirky accommodation, solid bed and mattress friendly staff but dirty, dusty, a broken kitchen draw, a microwave whose timer did not time or turntable turn.... Hot breakfast on the first day we were given no choice and it was cold sausages obviously microwaved, On the second day, much bettter, when...

The chalets are sweet, very clean and warm. I should imagine views in summer would be lovely with the double doors open. However in January that wasn't an option! The trains run very close by and they can be heard but I can honestly say they did not disturb my sleep. The staff were very helpful but evening meals could...
