Booked at last minute, and glad we did. Full of character, and lovely location, if you like walking in the countryside. Evening meal was really worth the wait, as all cooked to order, and waitress was friendly and very accommodating, and a great host! It's a quirky stay, and will definitely try again. Room comfortable, clean and very comfy bed....

I had supper here a few days ago and had the mussels! They are seriously the best I think you will ever find in the South East! Despite knowing the landlord he guards the recipe closely and I can understand why! Would strongly recommend the restaurant to anyone with an interest in good food and wines in a relaxed and...

This is a lovely pub and restaurant to visit at this time of year with lots of atmosphere. The chef is excellent and there are always tempting specials on offer. Having explained that one of us was gluten free, we were surprised the waitress brought out normal bread with our moules, then normal shortbread with the prunes and finally a...

visited here for a meal on a friend's recommendation and we were not dissapointed. The setting is lovely old hunting lodge that also doubles as an hotel. We sat at one of the three tables in the small bar very secluded and candle lit. The service was unobtrusive and unhurried so we could take our time and not feel rushed. The...

The Owner and his friendly staff we're very welcoming and helpful when we arrived. The room was immaculate. And the amenities perfectly worked, and were spotlessly clean. The Dering Arms could easily charge more for such quality. The food is immaculate as the Owner is an award winning Chef. The Owner went the extra mile for our entire stay. And...

We chose The Dering Arms for a lovely dinner for a special occasion. We tried a few times to call to book....no answer every time. Eventually my husband sent an email and got an answer. When we arrived the restaurant was surprisingly empty. The restaurant stairs fine dining. Loads of seafood choices. My husband had the Swordfish and I had...

Beautiful meal, I would recommend this restaurant, no not just recommend, I would advice you to do yourself a favour and go here for a meal, it's a treat, I had grilled sardines for the starter, which were superb, who would have thought sardines could be so delicious, and although mainly a fish restaurant I had ribeye for my main...

We booked to stay here for two nights for my husbands birthday and can only describe our stay as amazing, the landlord is a fantastic host, really welcoming and polite the same as his staff they all went above and beyond for us (eldest daughter was taken poorly one night so we had to nip home) we have really enjoyed...

We stayed the night several weeks ago. The landlord spent the entire evening noisily with friends at a table in the bar. I had thought he was the chef/patron but he cooked nothing that night. The food was unimpressive. Breakfast was cooked by the landlord and was OK but he was surly and taciturn. Overall it was an experience I...

I attended a birthday party one Saturday lunchtime at the Dering Arms recently. It's a lovely building but thank goodness they had brown tourist signs so we could find it (our fault for not looking it beforehand!). The pub was quiet but we felt welcomed and had the back room to ourselves. The food came out for us all (18...
