This place is a lovely friendly place to stay. We also had a meal. All the food is home made with a good choice and was delicious. We had a room with a four poster bed, room very clean and spacious. Breakfast also very good, we would certainly go back there, would recommend you visit to see for yourself.

We were looking for a pet friendly hotel for one night, as we have a six month old puppy. We came across this one, and thought it was a good choice price-wise, and no added charge for taking your dog, as so often happens. There have been a few negative comments about the decor being tired and a little scruffy,... More

We purchased an overnight package deal on Wowcher. It was reasonably priced at first glance, however as we arrived on a Friday, there was an extra £15 surcharge for our room. The dinner was okay, though nothing really ideal for Vegans and Vegetarians. The room was tidy enough but it was situated right about the kitchen chillers, so sleep was... More

Rooms are a typical old pub style and yes are old. There are flaws with in the rooms but if you're not poncy you'll accept it. The food was okay, apart from the chicken from the fajitas was burnt onto the pallet, we ordered a selection of cheeses which was also nice just needs some chutney added to the dish... More

My daughter and I had a lovely stay at the Castle. The room was warm and comfortable and the meal in the restaurant was superb - I had beef rending which was authentic and delicious! We will be returning!

Stayed here one night on our way to France the next morning; about 15 minutes away from the ferry/tunnel. The place itself is a little tired and run down but makes up for it in many other ways. Not least the price which, for this neck of the woods, was reasonable. Bed was comfortable, the toilet necessarily noisy (macerators don't... More

Having just returned from a Saturday night at this hotel. Had a lovely night. Cannot believe we didn't find this place years ago! It is literally minutes from the tunnel. Good value for money, always a warm welcome and a hearty breakfast. Staff are lovely and make you feel very welcome and at home - especially when travelling with a dog. I always feel awkward staying places with my dogs and worry they are... More

Comfortable clean bedroom, good wholesome food served by friendly staff who do everything to make you welcome. It's ideally situated for exploring the local area and is very dog friendly. It is also good that the bar is used by the locals which provides a good atmosphere.

We had a double room which although small was great value, well equipped and clean. The manager and staff are all very welcoming and accommodating and the pub has a real country village feel to it, Wednesday was steak night with two meals and bottle of red for £25. The cooked breakfast before the 10 minute drive to the EuroTunnel... More
