This provides an opportunity to eat and worship with a community of 8 monks although there is no pressure to be a part of the many daily services. Breakfast is simple and based on toast and cereals - lunch and dinner are served in silence with the monks in a vast refectory - all part of a red brick building...

Quarr Abbey was the silent haven I needed to get away from the busyness of life and get in touch with me. I stayed five days, and wish I'd stayed longer. Room was clean and simple, as was the food. The prayers and services each day, which I was invited to attend, were sung in Gregorian chant and that was...

I stayed 5 days at the Abbey for my retreat. Rooms are basic but tastefully furnished. Generous food portion, eaten together with the monks in silence. Warm welcome given by the Guestmaster. While there is no fixed charged for staying at the abbey, a donation should be given.

Rooms clean and simply furnished, warm and comfortable. Plenty of walks, to be at one with nature. Food is very good. Shock to system if your expecting all mod cons, no tv or WiFi, but once the overall shock has gone I really enjoyed the whole experience of time away from rat race and enjoyed living the simple life.
