Popped by here for Sunday Lunch after booking on the same day. A choice of 2 or 3 courses were on offer at a great price. I ate Salmon on pesto mash whilst partner ate the roast beef with Yorkshire pud and seasonal veg. Puddings were homemade and delicious! Food was served with a smile and we loved it -...

This was our first visit under the new owners. We stay here when we visit family, about every 18 months. The new owners started in October,2015. The first thing we noticed- they had much more staff. Not sure how Richard and his wife did it all those years! As always the beds were very comfortable and the showers were energy...

I used this hotel for a business trip for one night only, for the price i was very happy with the room located across the car park in a separate building from the pub, very clean with the best shower I have ever used when away from home. my only issue with the room was the green fire exit light...

All sorts of minor touches add up to something that is much more than the sum of its parts. We're doing occasional history tours of the area and somehow will manage to make sure that this accommodation & food are included in the in the next trip.

Have stayed here a while with business trips and on my last arrival found a it had new owners. The changes they have made within the few weeks they have been there are welcomed. Menu has been upgraded with special boards changing regulary and the food was 5 star, as was the new service and the vibe around the pub...

Booked on the off chance as hotels are sparse in this part of the world. Not only suprised but delighted. A really genuine warm welcome at check in followed by a lovely room well appointed, nicely decorated and very clean. A six foot bed was a welcome sight for two weary travellers. The dry as a bone humorous landlord provided...

We booked multi rooms we arrived at various times. Welcome received when pub open ok but landlord's sarcastic humour verged on being rude. Those in party that arrived later in the day were greeted by a locked door to pub/reception. When a member of staff contacted the welcome could not be describe as "welcoming". We had a table booked in...

We stayed here during our tour of some English Heritage sites. We found this place at the last minute online. Expecting a standard pub type B&B we were very pleasantly surprised when greeted by very friendly and professional staff, then shown to our room which was lovely! The place was spotless and the fact that it was separate from the...

Stayed the night, and it did what it said on the tin. Positives - great staff polite and engaging, large rooms double showers and clean. Not so positives The carpets are in desperate need of a change and peculate a distinct old pub smell, which be ignored. I would stay again, 3/5 new carpets would make it 4.5/5

We went for lunch a few weeks ago and although first impressions were goo,d that may have had to do with the people I was with rather than actual restaurant/pub. Our friends had already arrived and were waiting for us in the bar, which was lovely and we sat cosily having a drink while 'our table was being prepared.' Interesting...
