Today we visited down Hall. I had booked a table for lunch in the grill room and a full body massage and facial which would last about 1 hour 30 min each for myself and my mum about a month in advance for her birthday treat. when we arrived staff were lovely and meal was so delicious and very good...

We checked in for a surprise for Valentine's Day. I was blown away by the outside entrance and the Victorian feel it had inside. The service is terrible, our hotel phone was not working- every time we wanted to order something we had to run downstairs. If you are feeling thirsty for water, they charge £4 plus £5 pound to...

Great location and a beautiful building but the place could do with a revamp the carpets are thread bare in most of the public area and the toilets are not to the standard of any hotel let alone a 5 star one see picture. I had afternoon tea and it was so so nothing Specail the cakes seemed like they...

First view of the hotel as you approached from the driveway was a lovely Country House. Check in was easy although it would have been nicer if you were shown to your room rather than told the room number and "its on the first floor the lift is over there". Where was "over there" luckily we met a friendly workman...

The hotel is absolutely lovely, spotlessly clean with superb staff, we received outstanding service where nothing was too much trouble. The grill room restaurant is more like fine dining and at £35 for 3 courses exceptionally good value. We also had afternoon tea which again was excellent quality. Would definitely stay again.

Celebrated a 30th Birthday with 18 family members, everyone had such an amazing time, I would seriously recommend a "feature room" we got a free upgrade and it was lovely. We had afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast, with two vegans. Could not fault a thing, had such a good time we didn't get a chance to go to the spa,...

Just back from a spa day, great package £60 for 3 hours in spa, 1 treatment and a lovely 2 course lunch in the grill restaurant. We were lucky to have the spa to ourselves (there were 3 of us), it's quite small (4 relaxing beds) so it would be a squeeze if lots of people went in but I'm...

Absolutely lovely weekend. The food was outstanding!!! A few hiccups with organisation like reservations for dinner and lunch not being logged, cheese and wine not being in the room upon arrival as requested and confirmed, late checkout not assigned to the key. All minor iterations that could be easily rectified that did not negate the overall stay.

The grounds and building were spectacular and really feels like a little piece of rural luxury. We attended a wedding as a family and the receptionist overheard us wondering how long the corridor was and if our grandfather would need a break halfway along. She politely and discreetly offered us a wheelchair which was an absolute godsend and meant we...

We went for dinner with friends and ate in the grill room which was well laid out and very nicely decorated. We were looked after superbly by a young gentleman named Adam who was very knowledgeable and attentive to our needs. The food was very good and well presented. Also would like to give a mention to the helpful barman...
