Not only are dogs welcomed, they are positively encouraged. Our puppy had as good a break as we did. Good honest pub grub at reasonable prices, this is not the place to stay if you like chintz or fussy foods. All of the staff were friendly and the service was good. We will be going back. Ideal spot for touring...

We stayed at the Turfcutters Arms in our motor home as part of the Britstops scheme. Everything about our visit was great! The pub was busy and friendly, both the staff and locals going out of their way to chat to us. On the night we stayed we had a lovely light meal in the restaurant. As one of us...

What an absolutely amazing place, very hospitable, from the moment we arrived and got greeted initially by Ged, the friendly kiwi bar manager, who made us feel very welcome. Simon the owner of the place, is a very friendly guy, who went out of his way to acomodate guests, their dietry requirements and, despite it being a very busy place,...

We recently stayed for 3 nights in the b&b accommodation, our room was spacious and clean. The staff were very welcoming and an excellent breakfast was served each morning which included some giant local strawberries! We also ate in the pub each evening which again was good pub food. The main reason for staying is we could bring our dog...

Recently visited with friends for Canada. Good standard pub menu on offer and well executed. Bar staff and landlord very friendly and keen to help. A little disappointed since this was a return visit for us having moved away from the area and were expecting the 'old turf cutters' with soup served in the saucepan and Sunday roast whole legs...

We can't praise the staff any higher than 10 out of 10, the food was great and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Good traditional pub food with a good selection of food from the specials board. Highly recommend but suggest you book as very popular

We visited on Mothers' Day. Their system coped very well with this busy day. The menu is relatively short, concise, and features good traditional pub food dishes. The service and food was all very good. If you're looking for unpretentious pub food - here it is.

Checked the website twice, then cycled for an hour to get there, only to find the kitchen shut. Chef refused to talk to us or offer any food, passing a message that "It's Mothers Day tomorrow and we are going to be busy" It was 3.05pm, the website says food served all day Saturday. The story from the young barman...

Brilliant place to stay with the dog. Both humans and animals made to feel very welcome. Pub serves great local beer and excellent food. The chicken curry and the steak and mushroom pie were superb. A lovely log fire beside which to sit and enjoy the atmosphere after a long walk in the forest. B & B accommodation is functional;...

It's about a year since we last called at the Turfcutters and I was interested to see if the same level of service and quality of food had been maintained. I am very pleased to say that it's still excellent. We were welcomed by the landlord, served an excellent pint or two and then had a very good lunch. We...
