Travellers' Choice
Lime Wood, a boutique country house hotel in England, is set in the heart of the New Forest National Park, 1.5 miles from the small town of Lyndhurst and just an hour and a half drive from London. We like to think of ourselves as a luxury country house hotel with a difference. We've used Lime Wood's classical structure as the basis of our design but we've lovingly renovated it with a fresh approach, reviving its architecture and grounds. We've kept the spirit of its past, taken inspiration from its extraordinarily beautiful surroundings and added the odd contemporary twist to bring it to life. The food is by Luke Holder and Angela Hartnett. With its proximity to London, our New Forest boutique hotel really is the ultimate countryside getaway; perfect for weekend breaks, a dash from the city, or an escape from home; whatever your motivations, we can't wait to show you around. Please note dogs are welcome in our outside bedrooms and ground but not in the main hotel.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We love the whole ambience of Lime Wood and it’s our family’s favourite hotel in England. Our Eaves room was lovely and although the cheapest accommodation in the hotel it was sufficiently spacious and also had a bath, not just a shower. The service was universally excellent, friendly and helpful by all the staff. Breakfast was great and sufficiently wholesome to keep us feeling well fed until teatime. Similarly, afternoon tea was also excellent and both are served in their Scullery Room. We love the spa and swimming pool but the prices at Raw and Cured are a bit of a liberty, where the smallest bowl of cut up vegetables costs £19.69 including service. Also, we aren’t fans of Angela Hartnett’s menu in the main restaurant and prefer eating at The Pig close by in Brockenhurst. However, the ambience, service and lovely position means we’ll definitely keep on coming back.

Herb House & Spa day was superb and the staff attentive, professional and courteous. The Herb House Raw food selections are amazing and a culinary delight as a great way to eat healthy whilst rejuvenate in the amazing Spa facilities. The healthy drink selections are all freshly prepared and if you’ve booked the Spa day you have complimentary throughout the day (excl Smoothies) We had the Exec massage which were a highlight of our stay and expertly handled and delivered a great stress relief treatment. Set in the magnificent Limewood Hotel, this place is popular with celebrities and people travel afar to enjoy.

We visited the raw and cured restaurant and were unfortunately left feeling underwhelmed. It's not worth the money. And I'm happy to pay for decent food but this was over priced for what we had. That said our arrival we were greeted and really taken care of in the main hotel no complaints stunning service but the restaurant we went to was sadly not any where near my expectations of what I thought it might be be which is cutting edge raw food celebrated colourful exciting tasty none of which I experienced.

We were gifted a 3 course meal for a 70th birthday celebration. Rather upmarket venue than we’d usually use. Found staff, & food offering superb, of note waiting staff member Russell made us feel at home immediately. Could not recommend this enough for a special meal.

My husband and I have just returned from a perfect few days at Lime Wood. We had booked to stay in a Forest Suite but were incredibly grateful and surprised to be upgraded to a Pavilion Lodge, which was breathtaking! It was such a comfortable place to stay, with a huge downstairs area with pantry and a beautiful bedroom upstairs. Pavilion 1 is tucked away so felt very private, but close enough to the main building for ease. The spa area was good, although at times very busy. We enjoyed our treatments as an added treat. Raw & Cured offered a healthy lunch menu but rather expensive for what it was. It’s conveniently placed at the spa, but we preferred our simple (and well-priced) lunch in the main hotel. Overall, the food at the hotel was excellent. The price point is high but the service and environment in the main hotel make it feel worth it. The court yard is beautiful and we were never hunting for a place to sit. A really special few nights spent in a beautiful hotel. We can’t wait to return one day!

This hotel is very well located for a visit to the New Forest. The service, food and drink are second to none. However, do not book a Forest Suite and pay over 800 pounds a night and expect a suite. Our "suite" had a large, blandly decorated bedroom and a lovely marble bathroom. The other "room" was small and decorated with one tiny, uncomfortable chair and a dressing table. There was nowhere to relax in this "suite" except the bed. If you are there on a weekday be prepared for the lovely public areas to be off limits and reserved for private meetings. I have stayed in a number of 5 star country house hotels and have never encountered these problems before. I would not return.

Yesterday I had my 80th Birthday luncheon at the Lime Wood Hotel. The staff were knowledgeable and very helpful in all aspects for this party. The food for all 4 courses was stated by my guests as being delicious and outstanding in presentation, taste and quality, The dining room was very well presented with a suitable classic table layout with comfortable dining chairs. Overall it could not be better.
