We have just returned from a 3 night stay in limewood and cannot recommend it highly enough. The hotel is beautiful and the Christmas decorations are stunning. We loved the relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant and the food was delicious. The staff were warm and nothing was too much trouble, we were served by a particularly lovely girl Ella in... More

In some ways I am not sure that I am the target audience for this type of place. I rarely eat in posh restaurants and I was only here because a friend was treating me as a thank you. The setting is spectacular and it looks really lovely at the moment with all the Christmas decorations up and in particular... More

If you want and exceptional meal then Lime Wood is highly recommended. The only problem is the service - we waited over half an hour to get drinks even though there were plenty of waiting staff. That said the conservatory is very pleasant and there are numerous other rooms you could sit in. The restaurant itself is good quality for... More

We've stayed at Limewood in the past and also The Pig at Coombe. We've eaten at Limewood many times and I've even done the cookery course! We travelled 45 miles for Sunday lunch as a treat, and were really disappointed - we could have stayed nearer to home and had just as good. I'm mystified at how they think their... More

Used up a Christmas voucher, we haven't been for a while, the food was really good, we had to wait a while in between our two courses, we shared a roast between our two girls but they brought it out for us to do at the table, which was strange, to be honest there wasn't enough room. The crusty bread... More

Would love to stay at Limewood but so far have only managed lunch. It is utterly perfect • Exquisite surroundings - mid-century blends in with country classics • Tastefully quirky • Staff – I am sure very coveted by competitors – more than perfect • Food – interesting and authentic Italian but with a nod to classical dishes – •... This is a beautiful and fantastic hotel. The architecture of the hotel and surrounding buildings and grounds are amazingly well done with great taste and attention to detail. The clientele are upscale. The atmosphere is perfection. The spa and main hotel decor, the photographs, prints and paintings are interesting and varied. The Spa is brilliant with hot tub, water jet... More

Came for afternoon tea with a friend, have been before and absolutely loved it! The afternoon tea itself was lovely and we were offered more sandwiches and choice of cake as well as madeleines fresh out the oven. The service was not as attentive as my previous visit and there was a slight incident that arose that left us feeling... More

We were here for 2 nights and as soon as we arrived and were shown around booked a 3rd! The hotel itself is beautiful. We stayed in the Forest suite and found it to have everything we needed and the comfiest bed ever!! The bath and shower were also fantastic! We were away for a few nights after our wedding... More

Lovely set lunch. Service very attentive. Menu quite small but did include a vegetarian option. Lots of steak coming out of the kitchen ( not on set menu). Coffee was served in the lounge area. It is good to move around and try other areas of the hotel. Several roaring fires. Beautiful grounds.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Lime Wood, a boutique country house hotel in England, is set in the heart of the New Forest National Park, 1.5 miles from the small town of Lyndhurst and just an hour and a half drive from London. We like to think of ourselves as a luxury country house hotel with a difference. We've used Lime Wood's classical structure as the basis of our design but we've lovingly renovated it with a fresh approach, reviving its architecture and grounds. We've kept the spirit of its past, taken inspiration from its extraordinarily beautiful surroundings and added the odd contemporary twist to bring it to life. The food is by Luke Holder and Angela Hartnett. With its proximity to London, our New Forest boutique hotel really is the ultimate countryside getaway; perfect for weekend breaks, a dash from the city, or an escape from home; whatever your motivations, we can't wait to show you around. ... more   less
