This place was brilliant to stay in. Really enjoyed it and slept well. Staff helpful and friendly. Food very nice and breakfast has lots of choices, full cooked English, toast, cereals, croissants, bagels, many juices and tea or coffee. Helpful friendly service and not a bad price to pay to stay here.

Well when we first arrived it looked like a fantastic old English inn , receptionist was friendly enough, booked in and off to find the room, quirky is the word to describe the layout, narrow winding stairs as you would expect, room was clean yet dated but not in a good way ,but it made us laugh. We went for the...

We had been warned the hotel was mediocre. Granted, the rooms are dated and if you can't manage stairs it could be a problem. However everything else was faultless. My room was clean with crisp linen and more than enough soft towels, and sufficient tea and coffee. Our party had a super meal in the restaurant served by a clean...

We stayed one night en route to Portsmouth. Although it perhaps doesn't look inviting from the outside it is a warm friendly place, the meal was superb as was the breakfast which was served at the table, you help yourself to cereal and juice. It needs a little TLC on the accommodation but for one night it's not a problem.

Mediocre overpriced food. Steak tough. Chips soggy. Salad uninteresting and bland. Staff not in the least interested Huge gathering off the great unwashed in the outside smoking area. Wouldn't recommend or go back.

We were due to arrive at this hotel on the 20th April for three nights. Having realised after the booking that we had stayed here in the past a few years ago, and at that time were not impressed with the place, we decided to give it another try on the proviso that the place had been reburbished and brought...

Staff welcoming and helpful. Good sized room with king size bed and crisp white sheets. Very comfortable and clean. Good to have a bath and to be able to control the heating. Good complimentary breakfast choices. Free car park. It's a large Georgian building and the carpets have obviously seen better days but for the money it's fantastic value and...

We stayed at The Bear Hotel on Friday and Saturday night, the room was of a good size a massive double bed very clean and tidy, we had our little dog with us (he's a jug) so we're given our own section at breakfast so that he could be with us, very thoughtful. And breakfasts were very generous. Over all...

I wasn't going to leave a review as breakfast and service were OK. I checked in after dark so I couldn't really take stock of the room as the lighting was rather gloomy. After breakfast I returned to my room and I was quite horrified at the state of it. It was generally grubby with a couple of well established...
