This is one of those places that you remember because your hosts are so great. Joan and Jack run a first rate B&B offering great accomodation, terrific food and local knowledge that helps you enjoy what the area has to offer. If you are a 'Jane' fan it is the perfect place to base yourself! Would love to come back... More

St.Mary's Hall, a converted meeting hall of the Catholic church, was a most comfortable retreat after a drive on the narrow, winding lanes leading from Highclere. Host Joan Mossop welcomed us with a restorative cup of tea in the little light-filled parlor adjacent to our rooms. The b an b is lovely, both inside and outside in the beautiful garden.... More

Wow! what a place. Clean, comfy quiet and Joan looks after you real good. We only stayed one night but will make it longer next time. Breakfast, full english all round, was fantastic. You will not find better in Alton or surrounding area.

Booked St Mary's Hall on the strength of the excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. My first engagement with Joan, the landlady, set the tone which was friendly, welcoming and courteous from first to last. My wife and I stayed in the garden room which was warm, cosy and immaculately clean. Joan and partner Jack keep the rest... More

Joan and Jack are warm and wonderful hosts. I highly recommend this place as a "home away from home." We felt like they were family by the time we left. Joan thinks of everything you will need to make your stay comfortable. The breakfast was delightful, and the bedroom was lovely. We stayed in the "Knight" room. The history of... More
