The hotel had no water. I was told it would come back on later the same day. It never did. So no shower, and no flushing toilet. The room was over-heated so I struggled to sleep. And then the fire alarms went off at 1.30am. At 6am, a lorry arrived in the car park my room overlooked and the driver started loudly banging metal objects (possibly kegs?) about. I ended up getting almost no sleep. Honestly the worst hotel experience I have ever had.

We booked in advance for a business trip to this Hotel for location and amenities. On arrival we were told that the water supply had been off and it would be ok in a few hours. This was not the case. The room was functional and had all the right amenities, BUT was in need of a very though clean. Cobwebs and dirt on curtains and plinths, generally not a 4 star. This being said it was only for one night so we decided to stay. The water never came back on and we couldn’t even flush the toilet. At 1.30 in the morning the alarms kept going on and off. By 6 am I decided to boil some water to wash in so asked Reception for bottled water. He told me there wasn’t any 🤬 what hotel runs like this . Not a happy customer and as for breakfast everything was precooked and overcooked

Possibly the darkest hotel I’ve ever stayed with added bonus of abysmal customer service. Upon arrival I was told I was going to be given a nice room - had requested a ground floor - was given a fourth floor room with view of the car park. Great start. Then after getting locked out of the room - neither key card worked - was told rather patronisingly by the on duty manager that I shouldn’t put the card next to phone. If this is the case maybe you should notify patrons when they check in. When I’m paying almost £350 to stay somewhere the very least I would expect is a sorry we didn’t tell you this or sorry this has happened. Rooms are the darkest I have ever stayed in. The lighting is non existent. Bathrooms dated. Shower freezing even when on highest temp. Sink that floods the counter top as the tap is fitted too close to the edge and a hot tap that went straight to lava hot with no ‘hand wash friendly’ temp to start. On to breakfast - breakfast / dining area was dark and on a grey day a light bulb switched on wouldn’t have gone amiss. Food was standard, there was a selection however everything was bland, and the coffee is by far the worst coffee I have ever had the misfortune to drink. Machine could do with a clean as it tasted burnt. Corridors where left littered with empty plates / glasses / bottles - and this mess was left there all day. On the first night we had an issue with noise from the room below, called reception four times with no answer before eventually going down and being told sorry I was in the toilet - for twenty mins? I was staying here as part of a large group - this is our one yearly chance to spend time with each other. Last year we stayed at the Novotel and the customer service and welcome was outstanding. On our first night and second night at the Copthorne some of us ordered out and ate in the foyer together as a group. Nothing was said against us by the staff. In fact two members of the bar staff offered cutlery and condiments to one of our party. Must add that we cleaned up the mess at the end of the night. On the third night, just as one of our party had finished eating and another has just started to tuck into his Uber eats - he was told that it was against hotel policy to eat in the foyer! A policy that clearly only exists on a Sunday then, as Friday and Saturday nights there was no issue. The irony being that while food is not allowed to be consumed in the foyer the staff will quite happily tolerate weed being smoked all over the hotel. As a party we covered each floor in that hotel - and everyone of us witnessed the stench of pot on every floor, the lift and in the car park. Upon returning to the bar later that evening, we witnessed several incidents of passing off and serving under measures at the bar. When one of us pointed this out to the staff and proved that the pint was not a pint we assumed that would be the last, but staff continued to serve 14oz measures and charge for pints. Which is illegal. Would never stay here again

Our experience at the Copthorne was very good. All the staff were ultra-helpful, Harry, who was on the desk, took SO much trouble to order us a taxi and make sure it came on time. He completely took away the stress of worrying about whether the taxi would turn up. Hassan the front of house manager, was equally helpful, answering all our questions with helpful information and a lovely smile. We couldn't have asked for better service.

I am going to give an honest review of the Copthorne Hotel starting with the good points .. Walking into the hotel the reception area and bar and restaurant area are lovely and immaculate . The reception staff were so friendly and welcoming which for me is what you want when you walk into a hotel . I am in Manchester on a course with work and have spent some time in the Marriott Hotel but moved here 2 days ago due to availability. The lifts are quick and efficient to the higher floors and there are also stairs. The landings are quite dated but clean. I am in a family room which has a double bed and a sofa bed . The furniture in the rooms is very dated and they could do with being updated. I did love the carpets in the room as many hotels now have flooring which makes the rooms feel cold. There is no air conditioning and the heating is a radiator under the window. I like the fact there is no air conditioning as they give me a headache. There is a fan in the room along with a safe , fridge, iron, ironing board and hair dryer. The room does not have many plug sockets but there is an extension lead with extra plugs on. The bed is AMAZING, I think they are new and the mattress is out of this world . I had the most amazing sleep last night . The pillows and duvet are good quality and beyond most hotel standards . The bedding was also lovely. There is also a bathroom with a bath and shower , I love a bath so definitely happy with that. The view from my window was amazing , in the Marriott my view was a car park. Also because of where my room is I left the curtains open and lay in bed looking at a beautiful view of Manchester. The windows tilt open so I had them open listening to the rain on the water and could not hear any traffic. My room was cleaned this morning to a very high standard. There is also a kettle in the room with tea, coffee , sugar, milk and biscuits. Would I stay here again ? Yes …. Definitely. Yes there are parts of the hotel that are dated BUT the staff, reception , dining room, bar, cleanliness of the hotel , location, car park and room size outweighs the fact that the rooms and hallways need updating.

Cannot recommend this hotel following our experience there. We booked a ‘Club’ room for two nights. On arrival we were told we’d been given a view (sounded like a special treat!) There was a view, but the rest of the room was awful - mould around the shower tray, damp stains on the ceiling tiles, scruffy dirty curtains, peeled vinyl on the chairs, and a TV that didn’t work. We were moved to a better room, but why on earth did they think the original room would be acceptable? As the weather was bad, we decided to eat in the restaurant. Whilst my wife’s pie was ok, my ‘home made, stone baked’ pizza was absolutely terrible. There was absolutely no way this was either home made or stone baked, in fact I’m 100% certain that it was a supermarket frozen pizza that they’d baked in a normal oven. I was offered an alternative, but as we were pushed for time I begrudgingly ate some of the pizza on the basis I was not paying for it. Again, how did the hotel have the nerve to serve supermarket pizza as hand made, stone baked? Sorry, but we’ll not be staying there again, especially not at £132 per night.

The hotel was within walking distance of Old Trafford which was the reason for our visit. We stayed 2 nights. Free parking and plenty of space. Lobby was modern and we had a really friendly service. There was confusion with our booking through booking.com but the reception team sorted it all out for us. We ate in the restaurant on the first evening which was really good. Bar was pleasant but small. The room we had was extremely dated and needed a refurbishment but we didn’t spend that much time in the room so it didn’t worry us. Although, the beds were on wheels with no brakes on which was odd. Found myself lying 2 foot away from the wall when I woke up! A good stay! Quite happy

Great atmosphere, easy to park the car, the bar vibes was nice and chilled. Special mention to Rossell the supervisor of the restaurant absolutely enhanced the experience, food was also great and lots of options on the menu. Also a mention to Hassan the duty manager. Highly recommended hotel to stay and will be back.

I've been staying in the Copthorne Hotel Salford Quays for the past 2 nights and I can honestly say the food and service is outstanding. I had the Ribeye Steak last night and the Sirloin Steak tonight. I love my steaks and these were the Best steaks I've ever had anywhere. Thank you Chef and service. Room 103

I've stayed here many times in the past but hadn't been for a couple of years until last night. Previous stays were always fine, but this was a different experience entirely. The receptionist on check-in was horrible. She was rude, judgemental, and generally unpleasant and unwelcoming. The room was fine, with a view of the marina, and although a bit tired and dated, it was comfortable enough. There was quite a lack of plug sockets, though. The ensuite was in dire need of refurbishment and the temperature control knob on the shower didn't work, which meant the water was stuck on boiling hot to the point it was impossible to use. Ordered a pizza from room service and it was vile, with a texture like cardboard. On a more positive note, the lady serving in the bar was lovely, and the receptionist on check out was pleasant. Unfortunately though, the first impression was a lasting one, and based on this, I won't be back again.
