We've stayed in a few castles before, mostly in Scotland, and the main reason we'd not stayed in Thornbury before now was that it wasn't cheap. However, it was Valentines weekend, and we'd spent the rest of it walking, so we thought we'd splash out. The castle isn't the biggest inside in terms of "common rooms". There are maybe 20+...

I had a very fantastic time here. The bed, fireplace and everything are in the room was so elegant historic, and wonderful. High tea in the afternoon were very good and, of course, Dinnere was so excellent. My friend and I had dream experience.

It is great to have found a good quality hotel that is dog friendly. If you are a dog owner, the dogs are welcome everywhere and you can even have them with you when you have your meals...there is a separate dog friendly area of the restaurant. Those with limited mobility need to request ground floor rooms as several of...

WOW! The castle and grounds were incredible! They told us we could explore anywhere and that's exactly what we did. The rooms were impeccable. So much history! We ate in the dining room which was extra cost but well worth tasting English recipes. We ordered a traditional English breakfast the following morning and that was delicious as well. Then they...

We stayed here for one night to celebrate our friends 50th Birthday and wished we had booked longer. It was everything you would expect from a castle. Big soft 4 poster beds, deep rich carpets, suits of armour, roaring open fires, battlements, old oil painting etc etc. The food was good and the staff excellent. Could not find a single...

Thornbury Castle was above and beyond anything we have ever experienced. From our first jaw-dropping view as we approached the Arched entrance, to the exquisite culinary art of their degustation, and the impeccable service of the staff we felt transported to the heights of royalty. This place is amazing and well below the cost of a high-end hotel. Our room...

We stayed in a tower room here for one night away from London on our trip to England! It was AMAZING. One of the highlights of the whole trip for me. We stayed in a tower room which was HUGE, with an enormous 4 poster bed (Gryffindor tower, anyone?!), lovely bathroom with big tub/shower, windows that opened to let in...

I've visited Thornbury Castle many times before for the beautiful Tudor gardens but this was the first time I've been lucky enough to stay. Our room (Audley) was spectacular, with a mock-four poster bed & beautiful window overlooking the gardens & church. During our stay we had Champagne Afternoon Tea which was so plentiful we had to ask for a...
