Excellent value, free parking and close to town centre, friendly and helpful staff, rooms clean (cleaned every day during visit) with towels, kettle, tea and coffee provided, bathroom clean with large, floor level shower, excellent cooked breakfast with toast, cereals and yoghurts, and vegetarian breakfast provided. We will definitely use Melrose Hotel every time we visit Clacton.

Melrose Hotel - your typically English bed and breakfast hotel great location - single room at a great price. breakfast was of hotel quality and free parking ! the room had everything I needed. would have been nice if there was a lift instead of climbing the stairs so if you can't climb the stairs best choose somewhere else

I stayed at the Melrose for one night and was impressed with the value. It comes up as the cheapest on searches and therefore my expectations were low.I had also read a few bad reviews. On arrival i realised that parking could turn out to be a hassle as there are limited on site spaces ( about six cars ) and... More

You can check in quite early here but i arrived about 4. Parking on the front but be prepared to move to let others out. Friendly welcome and my bag carried to my room. Unusual these days. I had a single sea view room with shared facilities which for 30 a night on the august bank holiday was a bargain.... More

I booked a single room overnight for myself, as I was needed at work at short notice over the weekend, and I managed to book a room here, and I wasn't disappointed. The lounge/bar area is big, with a TV, pool table and large and comfy seats to take the weight off of your feet. It's right on the beach,... More

Stayed here for 1 night this weekend with my daughter. Lovely place. Friendly, clean and breakfast was brilliant. No problems checking in. Loved the little touch of having shampoo and shower gel in the shower incase we didn't bring our own. Very pleasant stay and would definitely return to stay again. Right on the sea front and close to everything.

Nice room, friendly staff. The weather was fabulous so we were out most of the time, but the bed was comfortable and the breakfast lovely! Ensuite bathroom was okay, but the door didn't close properly. Not a huge issue.
