We have just returned from a lovely meal at the Fetherston Arms during an overnight stop in the area en route from London to Scotland.
2 starters, 2 mains and 4 drinks came to £50 which we found to be exceptional value for money. The Guinness was as good as it gets and the gammon and fish and chips were excellent.
High quality pub food in a lovely pub - would highly recommend.
Very ‘Covid secure’ I will say too - staff all in masks, track and trace, hand sanitizer and tables well spaced etc.

Another visit to The Feathers. Once again meal was delicious. Great cooking and great service. We visited on a Thursday night which is pie night. They have a great selection of pies on offer alongside other traditional pub offerings. I would advise to book beforehand . Keep up the good work.

We booked a table at The Fetherston arms after a walk in the lakes , we had a very friendly welcome from both staff and locals . My wife had a GF real ale which was a nice surprise. We ordered our starters and mains of which there was a good selection of gf . The food and service were both excellent, very good portions and excellent value. I can highly recommend it and will be returning very soon .

The Feathers has a fantastic reputation locally and it’s richly deserved. I am a Steak lover and have had lots of steaks at lots of local restaurants in the Penrith area and I can say, without a shadow of doubt, that this is the BEST Steak available around the area. Good size, cooked exactly to my liking, came with chunky chips, peppercorn sauce, onion rings, mushroom and tomato. My wife had a Sunday roast Beef dinner, one daughter roast Lamb and the other chicken nuggets and chips, it was all delicious and perfect. The venue is very nice, spaciously laid-out and impeccably clean, good atmosphere with friendly and attentive staff. We had desserts, teas and coffees and the bill came to £75.20. We were more than happy to round it up to £82.50, the experience more than deserved a generous tip. Great work, well done and thank you. We’ll see you again very soon!

We visited on a recommendation by the cottage owner and glad we booked. We went on a Thursday which is traditionally their pie night but it did also serve the normal menus too. Husband had Hommity Pie which he said was the best he ever had, I had sausage and mash and that was delicious too - not too much so you didn’t feel stuffed. The staff were really friendly, would highly recommend, definitely book though. I saw a couple of the steak pies go out and they looked enormous, wouldn’t recommend a starter first :) dog friendly and a good pub to visit for food, the beer, and a very friendly welcome.

Brilliant place. The food here is exceptionally good especially the Sunday roast. The pub is clean, warm and welcoming and runs like a well oiled machine. We visit from a local caravan site and are always welcomed by staff and locals alike. And we are recognised now when we go in! Brilliant, love it.

We always pop in here on our visits to the area for a quick drink or bar snack and it's always a lovely, relaxed, friendly place. Today, however, we took advantage of the full lunch menu and were blown away. My husband had a chicken burger which was stunning in itself. Fresh chicken beast, cajun seasoning, giant onion rings. Amazing. I opted for pan fried hake on pea risotto. It arrived with huge chunks of salmon, king prawns, spring onions and topped with a poached egg. Amazing is an understatement. We'll definitely be going again for lunch on our next trip and I cannot recommend it enough.

I went in today for Sunday lunch. I had the beef and it was fantastic. A big plate with lots of nice vedge and a Yorkshire. The beer was great, the staff were friendly and all for a reasonable price.

This is a really lovely pub, dog friendly and very welcoming . The food is also great , and having a garden at the back , a good spot to catch some sun. The staff are really helpful and the pub itself feels a happy place.

They do not have rooms as far a I am aware and their website confirms that in my opinion.
The area is lovely and has many places to stay like B and Bs and holiday homes.
There are more places to choose from in the Kirkoswald area.
