Very clean and comfortable, if a little too hot at times, breakfast us provided across the road, and you can eat there in the evenings too. Also not too far a walk from the Husset restaurant. The accommodation is situated a little outside of Longyearbyen, at Nybden (spelling?) A 20 minute walk into the main town. Ideal location for starting...

I recommend this place 100%. Our experience was absolutely amazing. Our main goal was to see some Northern Lights, and that is why this spot is perfect, 4 minutes walk to a dark area where it is easy to see them. The staff is well prepared and customer service orientated: Very professional I would say. Our party of 6 people...

We had an amazing 5 days in Longyearbyen and were thrilled to have chosen the Coal Miners' Cabins. As soon as we arrived and settled into the lovely bar/lounge area we felt perfectly at home. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the place suited our budget and requirements completely. The rooms are simple, but very cosy, warm and clean,...

We love the atmosphere at Coal Miners' Cabins too, and the walk down to town is nice, and you get to feel the nature and place a bit extra when you walk :-) Welcome back in another season!...

When we came back from a trip in nature without shower or so this was a very relaxed coming home. Restaurant is nice, people friendly. The buildings are being renewed block by block, some parts are a bit old fashoned but are being renewed. There are only single person beds. Takes 25 min to walk to town but nice walk....

Hi LongMountain, thanks for taking time to review us. We also love the atmosphere at Coal Miners' Cabins, specially after a long day out in the nature it is nice to come back and crawl up in the lounge with a good book and a nice meal. The buildings has a lot of history, from the coal mining period. Welcome...

We stayed here for 4 nights. Had dinner twice. I liked the hamburger best, juicy and with added potatoes a very good coalgrilled meal. Breakfast is ok, with alternative for allergics. Good, glad and friendly service from the combined reception and bar. Clean rooms and clean and nice showers/toilets. No problems with shared toilets. 30 min easy walk to center...

We love the atmosphere at Coal Miners' Cabins too :-) You get pretty close to the animal life up here, and it is nice when a reindeer wish you good morning outside your bedroom window! Anne

The rooms and cleaning are just fine. Just do not expect great food. We looked at the reviews and thought that it wold be good. The hamburgers were ok, but the spareribbs did not smell ok, I think they were littli old. The staff is to few and unexperiened, but they try, but sometimes it does not help. My tip...

The airport shuttle dropped us off at reception, & a fabulous 4 day trip began. The room was simple but spotless, warm & quiet, the shared facilities excellent. There was a comfortable lounge & a kitchen which was simple but adequate. The reception & restaurant was very comfortable, with a typical Scandinavian breakfast of cereals, breads, cheeses & meats. Good draft local beer. Average prices in Svalbard. Also you can have some dishes if you want. We've visited it with 9 friends. Also, you can check the Aurora prediction right there, because they have a big TV
