This was a mid-week work related stay of two nights. Check-in was a breeze by friendly staff who man the office during business hours. On site restaurant is open to public as well so check whether you need to book early. We like to explore so we didn't eat there.
The rooms are spacious and nicely renovated. My single room included a 2 seat sofa and sandwich press on top of usual tea/ coffee facilities and fridge.
A sliding door takes you out to the pool which I wasnt packed for so didn't partake of. The room air conditioning is more than sufficient to keep you cool and you can leave it on while you're out, staff will not turn it off.
Renovations left the room with a fresh feel in the bathroom etc however the choice of paint colour still dates the rooms with that dull beige.
Water pressure was marvellous even though the shower curtain really can't contain the spray, expect the area to get wet.
Built in wardrobe could have been thought out a little better and if you're only 5 foot 5, you will struggle with hanging clothes. I gave up. Plenty of storage though.
My room had an iron scorch mark on the carpet and the beside lamps either didn't work or weren't plugged in. With cables behind the bed, I couldn't be bothered fighting with it.
Comfortable bed with nice quality bedding.
My biggest surprise was on day two when I returned in the afternoon to find a set of dishes and cutlery for me. The staff had obviously seen my collapsible bowl in the bathroom and realised I was purchasing ready-made meals from the local supermarket and dining in room.
That was very much appreciated as I had forgotten some of my travel cutlery.

Overall, a pleasant stay with unexplored amenities I will come prepared for next time. I would definitely recommend considering this accommodation while in Whyalla.

Almost forgot the complimentary windscreen wash! Another surprise after driving all day the previous day. Jumped into the car to note a little tag under the window wiper and nice clean window.

Bonus points that will get my return business.

The Motel is still slowly upgrading, and it is definitely improving. New areas have been built such as a gym space, and the whole area is looking well maintained. Desserts were fantastic, Chocolate fanatics will be in heaven, and the breakfast in the dining area had a great variety on offer, as well as being excellent value.
I look for details like clean TV remotes now, and am always pleased to find them as I did here. All staff seem to try to go that extra little bit, and it really makes for a comfortable stay.

Only real downside was the blue surface of the pool coloured any bit you touched it with, smurf blue, and there was nowhere in the pool area to wash off before heading back to your room (there was obviously once an outdoor shower spot, but it was not in working order).

Thank you for taking an interest in our upgrading and noticing the things we are doing to make your stays even better. As you have noticed we are always changing our restaurant menu with new dishes and I stay in the rooms monthly to ensure our standards are maintained. Unfortunately the pool paint is slowly breaking down causing the blue on your feet which washes off easily and is harmless. As we can't upgrade all areas at once and in hot weather the pool is so refreshing we are looking at resurfacing during the winter months.

I was in Whyalla for work and decided to stay here based on location. Rooms were very comfortable and the staff very friendly. Mints on the pillow was a very nice old school touch and the windscreens on the car were cleaned which was fantastic

Second time I've stayed here, came back as the first experience was good.

This second time the room wasn't great and I would have given them another star if a different room was offered. I asked and was told this was all they had.

If they say the only room available is upstairs go else where, to get upstairs you need to enter the bottom of the stairs via an the back of the main building and it's like using a fire escape but is cluttered at the bottom with I would describe as junk.

When the lovely lady who checked me in showed me where to go to the room I had to double check the route as looked like I was off the garden shed.

The room was crowded with 3 beds and little room to walk around.

Would stay again but refuse an upstairs room and stay elsewhere, all upstairs rooms use a single stairway and no alternative fire escape.

Thank you for taking the time to give us feedback and we are sorry you did not enjoy your stay but at least enjoyed the restaurant, the upstairs rooms each one has fire rated doors allowing one access point and a few are set up as family rooms as an overrun which you obviously received with timing of booking room, while the stair position is being relocated due to planned renovations around the stairwell and to ensure a clear path when used some items are needed to be stored out of your egress at night

We were pleasantly surprised here. We arrived late. The room was warm and clean and basic with lovely crisp sheets, fluffy pillows and a comfortable bed. The small galley kitchen was a treat allowing us to make some food at 11pm with the food we had in our car and the affordable, albeit not fancy, bottle of wine was great to be able to have a small taste before sleep. This place is not fancy but it is a great price especially for what you get. Very happy we stayed.

We stayed at this motel on two separate occasions for one night each time. The first room we stayed in had red wine stains on the carpet and ripped sheer curtains. Not a very good first impression. The bed was comfortable and the shower water pressure was good. The second stay saw us in a different room which was much better, no stains on the carpet and the sheers were intact. Overall, the motel is OK however a little overpriced for what you get.

It was a 40+ degree day and we booked so that we could use the pool after a long drive. After 10 mins into being in the pool we realised we were covered in blue paint. We told the girl at the desk what we had experienced and she advised it had been approved by the local council and that it was safe to swim in. She proceeded to say that it would only be harmful if we licked the bottom of the pool! I'm angry that if she knew there was a problem that she should have told this to us when we checked in. It was a horrible experience and we will never be back.

Positives!
Very friendly helpful staff.
Easy booking system.
Good location.
Electronic room entry.
King bed
Clean, tidy, microwave, sandwich machine.
However
Rooms terribly outdated, stained carpets, too much big bulky furniture, dark, no plates or cutlery, and the smallest shower room ever.
Bathroom in need of maintenance.
It was quiet as not many there. It’s a big place, once would have been a place to go, sadly now it is the place to go if you want a cheaper basic place to stay the night, then it’s fine.

We found the comfprt inn both comfortable, quiet and with a friendly staff who went the extra mile. It was clean and the beds comfortable. The older style construction means that the walls are thicker and so we didn't hear others around us. The restaurant provided good food with prompt staff. Waking to find that staff had cleaned the windscreen of the car was a definite bonus. The motel is older and the curtains were tatty but they worked well and did not detract from the comfort of our stay.

We stayed in Whyalla overnight and the room was very clean and comfortable. The little kitchenette is a nice extra if you are planning on staying a few days. The in house food was very good. You better make a booking if you are dining at Percy's in the Alexander on the weekend, it's a very popular local restaurant. Craig was very accommodating, we will stay again.
