I am a very hard rater and am hard to please but this place is totally a 5 Star.

Even before we walked into the unit, we knew we made a good choice. The grounds and buildings are all well taken care of. Once inside, we were not disappointed. Actually, it was more than we expected.

We were met immediately by John and Nell. Nell showed us into the unit and explained everything to us. She also provided us with information on the area and answered any questions we had.

The unit is large and has pretty much anything you will need, plus more. John and Nell have thought of pretty much everything. Provided for us was plenty of fresh fruit, tomatoes, wine, cookies, chocolates, eggs, bacon, bread, butter, various jams. These are but a few items as there are too many to list. Leave it to say that anything and everything you need for your stay is here. And, if it is not, just ask Nell and she will make it appear.

The unit is bright and airy and has a large patio to sit on which looks out over the valley and towards the ocean. There are many birds on the grounds and bird food is provided for you to feed them. My husband had the Magpies eating out of his hand.

Parking for your vehicle is beside the unit and is covered so it is out of the sun. You need a vehicle to get around as the B&B is located on the outskirts of town but not that far away.

You will not be disappointed staying at Close Encounters B&B. We were here for 3 nights and we wished we would have been staying longer. This place makes you feel like home and that is the best feeling when you are travelling.

I would recommend staying at this B&B without any hesitation. I can guarantee you that you will NOT be disappointed.

John and Nell, thank you so much for making our stay so enjoyable. You have a lovely property, thank you for sharing it with us. We will always remember our stay with you.

Cheryl and Vern

Your very comprehensive review is greatly appreciated. We try very hard to meet the needs of travellers as its very difficult to carry everything you might need in suitcases. We enjoyed hearing about your adventures so far in Australia and we wish you safe travels for the rest of your 3 month trip. You would be welcome back any time should the opportunity arise.

John and Nel provided a warm welcome, every possible comfort, and many thoughtful extra touches, e.g. fresh roses, and breakfast provisions exactly to our liking throughout our 19 day stay. Set high above Victor Harbor, one overlooks the expanse of cultivated proteas, and across the town to Granite Island and the distant ocean. We could not have felt more 'at home' and highly commend our hosts for their professionalism and meticulous attention to a traveller's needs. It would be a pleasure to return to this beautiful B & B.

My wife and I stayed at Close Encounters fro 4 nights, and wish we had stayed longer. The property itself is set up on a hill overlooking Encounter Bay, in a quiet and picturesque location ..... yet within easy reach of the town and the Encounter Bike way. The self-contained accommodation itself is modern, clean, exceptionally well maintained, light and airy; comprising comfortable queen bed; single bed; well maintained kitchen; 55 inch flat screen tv; excellent bathroom; and ample breakfast provisions. The wonderful hosts add to the experience, being friendly & helpful, yet not too overpowering. Would definitely stay here again.

It was great to receive your feedback on our B & B. We are very happy you enjoyed your stay and cycling the Encounter Bikeway to Goolwa was a highlight of your visit. We strive to provide a relaxing "home away from home " environment and would welcome you back if the opportunity arose.

We look forward all year to our annual holiday at Close Encounters B & B. The decor is attractive and the accommodation designed for comfort and convenience. Its location makes it easy to explore every part of the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula, from Victor Harbor to Port Elliot and Goolwa, and many of the slightly more distant historic and attractive small towns. Our hosts are experienced professionals, who extend a warm welcome, and take care to ensure that every detail is in perfect order. Thank you, Nell and John!

It was good to welcome you back for your 6th visit, Victor Harbor is close to other lovely historic towns which makes it very easy to visit. We are fortunate to be able to supply our guests with very fresh fruit ( when in season) from our own orchard. We are looking forward to your next visit.

If it feels like ‘home’ you know you are in the right place! Thank you Nel and John for making sure that our 5th year of staying with you was as restful and delightful as ever. We choose to return every year, and it is always a special pleasure to be in this beautiful setting, above Encounter Bay, with every comfort and amenity ... and ‘more’ unstintingly provided. We count the months between visits, and look forward to 2019.

Thank you, John & Nel ... this is our 4th year with you at Close Encounters. We are drawn to return by your warm welcome, and careful attention to providing every comfort and amenity to add to our pleasure in being here. We enjoy the location and outlook across the garden, to the fields, and Encounter Bay, whether sitting out on the patio, or indoors, and being in close proximity to all the attractions of the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula. We look forward to our next visit. Carol & Ian

Hi Alan & Margaret Your very positive review was greatly appreciated and we thank you for choosing us for your 45th wedding anniversary celebrations. We do try extremely hard to stock most things that our guests are likely to need. A new outdoor setting allows our guests to relax comfortably on the front verandah and put their feet up. We look forward to seeing you again on your next getaway. Best wishes Nell & John

Nel and John have built a delightful B & B, welcome guests with warmth and enthusiasm, and attend to every detail to make one's stay in Victor Harbor as pleasant and comfortable as possible. The setting above the town affords a wide view toward the hills, and the ocean; the shops are only a short drive by car. It is hard to leave this tranquil haven, and good to return.

Thank you for your lovely review As it was your second visit it was good that you were able to stay for virtually a whole month and really enjoy what Victor Harbor has to offer. It was exciting to catch up with your relatives and friends and to celebrate your birthday with them. The longer stay also gave you time to explore our beautiful south coast and to do some relaxing paintings. We are looking forward to your third visit if that becomes possible next year.
