The Austral was suggested to us as a place with good meals following the Pichi Richi train trip.
We arrived back in Quorn at about 7:45 pm & were made welcome for an evening meal even at this rather late time.
My wife had thread salmon & I had the rib-eye.
Both meals were cooked to perfection.
Friendly, Aussie country pub.

We wandered across the railway line from the caravan park to the Austral on a recommendation from fellow traveller. What a lovely surprise. I had kangaroo ragout with pasta, hubby had lamb shank & our 2 friends had roast beef. All fabulous. Wine was also great at reasonable price. Well done Austral.

I stopped off for lunch having visited a couple of times before. I ordered an Outback chicken schnitzel which was really good, very nice size, hot and tasty. Only way you could improve it would be to make sure the plate was pre heated, having said that the meal stayed hot throughout. Recommended for a good hearty lunch anytime.

We stayed in the motel rooms at the back of the Hotel. Basic but clean. Room was a bit tight, as they had to put in an extra bed. We were 2 adults and 2 children. No problem with noise, the heater was very effective as it was mid winter and very cold and wet. Meals at the Hotel were the normal hotel front bar meals, hot and plentiful. Staff were all friendly. The only drawback was the breakfast (included in the price of the room). Nothing there for me at all as I am not a jam or cereal person. No vegemite for the toast, much to my husbands disgust. We did not eat in for our last day, but all in all, we would stay there again.

I was born in Quorn South Australia. Quorn is in the Northern Flinders Ranges and this town used to be the stopping place before setting out on the railways to Alice Springs. However, the rail has been bypassed these days and trains now leave from Port Augusta. The Austral Inn hotel is a very good place to stay if you want to break your journey to further Northern towns or just stay a day or so to look around the area. Great Country meals in the hotel as well.

As cold wet tourists we were placed well away from the cosy main dining room. It was cold, we had 3 menus for 8 diners and had to track back to the bar to order from someone who overlooked us to serve beers first. The food was only ok, but severely let down by the cold response to our appearance

We love calling into the Austral....and of course we have stayed there too....Everyone is so friendly and fun to be around. The meals are awesome, the rooms great and it's so peaceful...Nina is one of the nicest people we have ever met and she remembers us when we come in. One good memory I reckon. I have to say is is one of the best behind a bar. Great to talk to, amazing knowledge of the Flinder's Ranges, easy to talk to and brilliant behind the bar. Can't wait to go back there.

The accommodation is simple but it is very clean and excellent value for money. The owner and staff are very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed drinks in the bar and a really good meal - the roo schnitzel is exceptionally tender and tasty and large! Quorn is a lovely laid back place which is well worth a visit - and I am glad we stayed at the Austral which offers such warm hospitality. I recommend staying here as we did, the night before a trip on the super Pichi Richi railway.

I stayed overnight for a work trip, it was extremely hot weather but the air conditioner kept the room cool. My room inside the main hotel was spacious, clean and comfortable. The meals in the dining room were good and the wine menu included local wines. The service was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and you help yourself in the shared kitchen area. Unfortunately some of the provisions had run out by the time I arrived in the morning. Overall it was a good experience, I will stay here again.
