Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This motel looks ok from the outside and the receptionist is super helpful . She happily answered all my questions about the town and gave good suggestions on where to eat etc , she was a kind and welcoming lady who cares about people. The outside of the motel looked ok so I was very surprised to see how drab and worn out the interior of the room was . Very used , shabby and outdated , really way past time for the owners to spend a bit of $ and make some improvements. In the bathroom the vanity basin looked positively unhygienic with the multiple crazed cracks in the basin . Dirt had seeped into the cracks and I wondered how any self respecting business owner could offer that to paying guests. Because it was disgusting. The bathroom was just awful. I very much doubt the nice lady in reception is the owner here . I was thankful in the morning to be able to leave early with the thought I will never stay here again. On exiting town on my way to Adelaide I noticed another motel I wish I had known existed , the car park was full of cars so obviously people know that there is a better place to stay . This motel had only 3 cars for the night. Something the owner might consider , business is obviously there in the town if a motel is worthy of it. So thumbs up for the kind and caring receptionist and thumbs down for the buildings owners and seriously poor condition of the rooms .

Response from Lake Albert Motel, Owner at Lake Albert Motel
Responded 2 Oct 2023
Thank you for your kind words about the receptionist. You are right the bathroom updates are required to be done by the property owner not the Leasee. As the Leasee we can only present what we can and we believe that most customers appreciate that. We would love you to stay at the other motel on your next visit to Meningie, smaller rooms, older and ready to be pulled down, although it brings the people in because it is cheaper and directly on the lake. Thank you for staying at Lake Albert Motel.

We were very pleased with our accomodation for our recent stay. The room was spotless and had everything you needed. We were impressed by the little touches which included fresh milk, toaster, cups, plates, glasses and washing liquid and a tea towel. The location was perfect being very close to a bottle shop, supermarket and pub which had good food. We will definitely stay here again.

Comfortable and quiet stay in spacious room. We had everything we needed for a cosy stay and eating on site. Friendly and welcoming staff. Well-located within a short walk of playground, water front, pub, cafes, etc. Negatives: wifi was very unreliable and rooms were not serviced on COVID pretence - I have NSW, NT and SA for a year and this was a first… quite disappointing.

We stayed here for anight when visiting the Coorong National Park. The room was very spacious and had everything we needed. There was TV, heater, AC, microwave, toaster, kettle, fridge and some cuttlery. There was also ironing equipment. The bathroom was also spacious. The WiFi was on the moody side, but worked well near the reception. It was quiet in the night. The staff was super friendly, giving us hints on where we could see some birds. We actually saw more brids around town at the lake (2 mintues walk) then in the Coorong National Park! Overall we felt very comfortable and would definitely stay here again.

I am writing this review even though we didn’t get to stay here as I would like to thank the owners for being so understanding when Virgin Australia changed, delayed and cancelled our flights we couldn’t make it to South Australia. The owners of this motel understood our plight and were very helpful. Unlike some other cancellations we had to do. We didn’t get there is time but we will soon. Thank you

It's a motel!!! But a very good one. Excellent budget accommodation. Easy online booking, a friendly greeting, very clean and tidy room with a comfortable queen-size bed and beautiful crisp linen. All at a reasonable price. Couldn't ask for much more.

We booked our motel room for four nights. It was a long weekend. The motel was fully booked each night that we stayed. The weather was perfect, and were able to sit outside our room enjoying the evening. Fellow travelers also enjoyed the outside chairs and tables. There was a BBQ area with a shelter available for guests and it was used. The sink to wash dishes is still a work in progress and I'm sure it will be well used by travelers when it's finished. Proprietors Lyn and Mark were friendly and welcoming, giving us ideas for things to see in the area. Although the motel is situated in the middle of the town noise was not an issue either from guests or the road. I would stay here again if we were in the area.

Great stay. Thank-you We enjoyed a quiet & peaceful night. The rooms were exceptionally neat, tidy, comfortable and clean. Popular choice as it looked like they were full for the night. Centrally located in the mainstreet, which is perfect to explore the township

I’m not a great lover of exposed brickwork in motels but having decided it was the best option available to us we were very pleasantly surprised. It’s clearly an older motel that’s undergone a facelift so some parts are still a bit old but the essentials are excellent. The bed and the bedding were great, the curtains and blinds gave privacy and light as required, the shower had good water pressure and hot water and the towels were good. In addition, a kettle and toaster were provided along with plates and some cutlery to enable simple self catering. It’s a quick walk to the pub, supermarket and takeaways or an outdoor BBQ and communal seating area allowed for more advanced cooking options and there were comfortable chairs and a small table outside each room, perfect for a beer, to eat a meal or read. We also had a view of the lake and we didn’t hear a peep from another guest during the night. What more could you ask from a motel except a great price and it had that too. Wish in hindsight that we’d stayed a little longer and just spent some time relaxing.
