Stayed 2 nights and it's a top spot. The renovation is fantastic. Enjoyed a beer at the street bar and views of Mt Remarkable. First night we did a wine tasting. Both nights had a great meal. Small kitchen with kettle toaster fridge etc where you get own brekky. Rooms good with nice bathrooms. Toni, the young lady who runs...

My husband and I spent two nights at the North Star in October. We couldn't decide on accommodation so we stayed one night in the green truck and one night in the hotel - both were great. The truck was a fun, unique experience and the space was much bigger than I expected. The furnishings were rustic but that was...

We had a celebration dinner here at the end of our hiking trip. We also stayed in the cottage Great food, decor & ambience. Authentic and charismatic with local charm The accommodation was basic yet clean with self catering facilities and right next to the pub. Our group of 14 had dinner which came out hot and in a timely...

Returned to this place after a reasonable meal a many years ago. Probably one of the most lack lustre meals my husband and i have ever had, but given the size of the town there are few options. Waitress had 3 other tables of 4 and 2 people to serve on a Thursday. Looked so unimpressed and not welcoming at...

This pub has a lovely feel. In fact, the whole area does. The drive from Pt Wakefield to Melrose was a trip through South Australian history. Time has stopped in some if these lovely old country towns, proudly displaying their colonial heritage through tired but resilient architecture. It is scenery for the soul, with rolling green fields dotted by sheep...

Stayed overnight because I didn't want to set up camp in the pouring rain! The room was spotless, fantastic showers and the bar/restaurant area was very warm, surprising given the size. The service was very friendly but not overbearing and the food delicious. Some fun looking rooms stuck to the back of trucks out the back. Suitably priced room and...

What a nice surprise! Great hotel in the beautiful Melrose. I went for work and hosted a work function with 20 people, stayed in one of the rooms in the main building and ate in the hotel. I have nothing but positive feedback. The rooms appear to have been recently refurbished and were lovely - great bathroom), there was a...

What a great pub hotel. We stayed in one of the 'trucks' out the back - very cosy and well-appointed 'houses' mounted onto the back of an old truck. I'm already planning another trip back there to stay for more than one night. Friendly staff too. It was a cold weekend but the sun warmed up the truck during the...

We stayed in the red truck accommodation which was incredible. Our room and facilities were brilliantly built on the back of a big truck showing the cabin crashing into a tree! It was quirky and gave our camera a good work-out to show our friends. Pub food was good and the town was full of old buildings and had an...

We stayed here on the way up from Adelaide to Arkaba Station. Melrose is a lovely little town at the foot of Mt Remarkable. Great trails for mountain bikers and walkers. The pub itself is mid-1850s and has great character. The rooms upstairs have been recently renovated both in the room and the bathrooms. They are tasteful and comfortable. The...
