Refurbished old cottage that has retained a period layout and a number of original features. Well appointed kitchen with everything required for a self-contained stay. Very peaceful with only the sounds of nature to be heard. Not really recommended for anyone over 190cm tall as some of the original features are 19th century height lintels on several doors.

Beautiful restored and spacious cottage. Stayed for 2 nights. This would have to be one of the cleanest and spacious cottages we have stayed in. We choose a different wine region each winter. Paul introduced himself when we arrived and even bought more wood for the 2nd night as we’d run out.
My only disappointment what that there was no eggs and bacon for breakfast which we are use to, but my fault for not reading the inclusions. We had the home made bread and cereal for the first morning and went out for breakfast on the 2nd.
Visit the Battle of Boswoth winery close by. It has kept it’s beautiful original charm and staff are amazing

Beautiful comfy stay. Unique style cottage with all the modern comforts. Would definitely recommend for a weekend escape. Close to wineries. Paul went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Shown around the glamping area and looks fantastic, this will be our next stay.

Peppermint Farm was a disappointment to us... after viewing some previous positive reviews, and paying a relatively expensive fare, we looked forward to a pleasurable experience in the old farmhouse cottage. Alas, we encountered a location too adjacent to our hosts' home, not much they could do about that, this being a historic cottage, but with a token attempt at privacy. After a decent renovation, completed without flair, the owners lost interest and the cottage provided all the welcoming of a mean spirited aunt. Warm, but not hot, water, half a loaf of sliced bread for breakfast, two limp supermarket sausages wrapped in cling plastic film together with exactly the same measure of bacon with some sad frozen hash browns ( I think ). This was not the country fare of a wine and food produce region, rather post war rationing of supermaket purchased food. The cottage was clean, but not spotless, an ancient collection of brica brac castoffs, not dusted, not loved, sat with an enormous range of McLaren Vale advertising handouts displayed too prominently. For us, it was all rather depressing, after some previous excellent accommodation offers not too far away. Peppermint Farm needs de cluttering and the owners need advice of how Australian accommodation offerings have charged since 1963. Grandma has moved on.

Your feedback is appreciated, despite being somewhat harsh. Most of the feedback here and posted on our online guestbook conflicts directly with your comments but we will take them on board. Our local heritage listed cottage was built in 1853 and for most of our guests the period décor is what they expect to see and nothing like 1963.

This heritage listed accommodation more than met our expectations. Set amongst glorious vineyards in the vale, the pug cottage was an appealing blend of tasteful restoration, furnishing and modern amenity. A grand old peppercorn tree and gorgeous creek setting made for a secluded romantic getaway. The cottage was immaculate in presentation with crisp white linen, polished silver and scrumptious brekkie supplies. Lovely views were to be seen at every window. The serenity of this accommodation was refreshing after our exciting tour of the world class cellar doors and wineries many which were in close vicinity - Primo, Petaringa, Hugh Hamilton and Wirra Wiira, to name a few are just a stone's throw away. And this B & B rises to this standard. Put it on your bucket list!

Thank to Paul and Diane for hosting us on our Anniversary weekend. A gorgeous little historic cottage in the middle of the vineyards.
Great provisions and wine left for us and we had everything we needed for a weekend escape.
We will be back for sure. Thanks so much.

Great atmosphere, close to all the great wineries and Paul the host was amazing, even going to the effort of dropping us off in town. Highly recommended, really loved waking up to the bright sun over the autumn vines and the beautiful creek at the back door ..... only regret is we didnt book a longer stay :)

This is a wonderful old cottage that has been tastefully restored. It is also probably the best appointed B&B of 10 or more that my wife and I have stayed at and is in a wonderful location nestled among the vines. It also had a very generous provision for breakfast and snacks. However I found the bed in the main bedroom way too firm which made for an uncomfortable night. But apart from that a wonderful place to stay.

Hi Carl, Thank you for your review and feedback. We are glad you enjoyed the cottage, the location and the generous provisions but think that a 3 out of 5 rating is a bit mean. Your comment about the bed just reinforces that it is impossible to please everyone. We spent a lot of time researching mattresses before we settled on purchasing rather expensive pillow top mattresses made by AH Beard. A number of our guests have made comments like “had the best night’s sleep for ages.” So I don’t know what else we could be expected to do. I can reassure readers of your review that our beds are as comfortable as you could find anywhere.

Set in amongst the vines, this comfortable cottage was a delight to experience. Paul's careful restoration has done it proud. We were sharing our love of McLaren Vale wines and cuisine with a dear friend from Brisbane. The "icing on the cake" was to return to the serenity of Peppermint Farm settle on the couch and enjoy another glass of Shiraz and take in the view. Thank you Paul.

We were impressed . The cottage is bordered by a bush creek , grapevines and a huge pepper tree which all help give the perception of isolation. The cottage facilities were 1st class and there were all the cooking, cleaning, washing, and ironing equipment that may be required. The dishwasher was an unexpected luxury . The breakfast provisions were extensive and much appreciated. Paul has provided a table of information brochures and discount vouchers to help inform you of what is in the area. There are many wineries, restaurants , boutique brewery's , and local produce outlets within 5 minute drive. Mclaren Vale has a large Coles supermarket and there are several banks and ATM's. On weekends there are local farmer markets in McLaren Vale and Willunga.
