Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Marvelous retreat, a perfect little getaway. The apartment was clean and modern, well provisioned with breakfast, coffee and amenities. The room was spacious and the spa bath indulgent. Lovely open fire and comfortable bed. Nice little touches like Roses chocolates. Owners were very accommodating and helpful, really everything was great and would definitely go back.

What an amazingly romantic place to stay. The attention to detail is second to none, from the candles in the spa, the port in the decanter, to the chocolate hearts next to the bed. Beautiful appointed with very commentary furniture and super comfortable bed. Not to mention the open fire place. Highly recommended. Cheers Jo and Joe

This is such a gorgeous romantic cottage. Ellie has thought of everything to make the stay wonderful. From the chocs, port and bathrobes! The most comfortable bed. Spa and fire set the scene for a lovely evening. The brekkie is so good and you can use the BBQ too. Walking distance to the Main Street and choice of wineries. Definitely recommend this place.

We recently stayed in the studio suite at this lovely B&B. The location is perfect as there its located in walking distance to the McLaren vale pub, Oscars restaurant and the main street of McLaren Vale. The suite had a queen bed, spa (we didn't use it but it looked nice) a sitting room, microwave oven, toaster, kettle and coffee pod machine. We were supplied with a lot of Breakfast food, including cereals bread, English muffins, fruit & yogurt. there was just too much food. We were also given and bottle of wine and a nice sample of fortified wine. We took up the offer to use a voucher at Chapel hill winery which was excellent. Elle's communication was excellent. Elle was able to pass on communication on how to enter the unit and make up the room in a COVID safe way. All in all we had not complaints and will look forward to return to McLaren Vale.

My wife and I stayed at this B&B which is centrally located to McLaren Vale the accommodation is first class and the service is the same would recommend to anybody looking for a great weekend. Generous breakfast offering that is able to be made up by yourself also centrally located to the shiraz trial which is ideal for walking and bike riding through the beautiful vineyards of the McLaren Vale. Also ideally located to walk to nearby shops and entertainment so overall it is a wonderful location that is highly recommended.

We stayed here last week in the Retreat for 2 nights it's a well organized B&B with very comfortable room and bed, very clean and only few minutes from McLaren Vale town. Only complaint was the breakfast provisions: Coles white bread, Kellogs cereal and Kraft jams in an area of great produce was very disappointing, we only had a light breakfast one morning as we had to leave early to catch a plane. Great thing it was only 15 minutes to the beautiful southern beaches such as Maslin's uncrowded with clear water. Recommend Wirra Wirra and Coriole wineries although there are so many in the area and the Salopian Inn for a great meal and friendly service.

Hello Winos60, Thank you for staying at Wine and Roses, I'm happy to read that you were happy with your stay in The Retreat. I am sorry to read your complaint in regards to a few of the breakfast supplies. When you run a business there are many reasons why you choose certain products, such as availability, freshness, cleanliness and quality. I try my best to use local produce where I can. I'm sorry that you didn't try or mention the cooked breakfast provisions, cheese platter and the local wine that I supplied, which are all local, I'm sure that you would of enjoyed them. We certainly do have some beautiful beaches very close by, we are very lucky to be situated in an area rich in excellent wineries, restaurants and landscapes. Warm Regards Ellie

We spent a couple of nights at Wine and Roses in October. It's a top shelf B&B. Our room had it's own veranda with a BBQ (for the cook your own brekky). The room itself was huge and well furnished, including a very comfortable bed. There's a fireplace for the cooler nights too. It has a kitchenette and the amount of food, drinks and snacks supplied was incredible. We couldn't get through it all. You get a bottle of wine, cheese platter and a tasting voucher on arrival too. It's well located, far enough back from the main road so there's no noise, but not too far that you can't walk to some restaurants, the pub and some town-based wineries. The communication from Ellie in the lead-up to our visit was top notch. We'd happily stay again. Highly recommended.
