This B&B is one that we return to often as we have not found such a great place for the price. It's worth every penny! Both suites are very luxurious with the Spa Suite having slightly more room (separate lounge and kitchen - whereas the Library Suite has a bedroom/lounge with no kitchen, though tea/coffee making facilities are provided, as are plates etc).

The beds and couches are all very comfortable and both are very cozy in the winter especially when an open fire (Library) or combustion heater (Spa) keeps the rooms nice and warm. There are many wineries a short distance away (we drove) and a few excellent restaurants (The Barn & Salopian Inn are our favourites) and there's a few others on the main street.

The bigger suite has facilities to make your own breakfast which has the benefit of being more private and means you can eat when you want. Breakfast is made with minimum organisation when staying in the Library Suite and is absolutely wonderful with the benefit of not having to cook!

The Lady who runs it is lovely and very easy to do business with.

There is a communal table on the veranda to use for lunch if you like, and a grassy lawn out the front as well, and beautiful fairy lights light this area in the evening.

After five days on the Great Ocean Road we were surprised to find this charming Inn. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom spa-like and the living room spacious. Wood had been provided for a roaring fire.
The innkeeper came to check and show us where to find breakfast. Eggs, ham, bacon , butter, jam and cheese were in the fridge and a freshly baked loaf in the kitchenette.
Great place to unwind from a long journey!

What a piece of paradise!
From the moment we arrived to the moment we left nothing else could explain this other than perfection.
Roz was lovely, and insisted we relax and enjoy. The bed was old and romantic, the fire in the living room was brillant and the spa was a great size to.(spa suite fantastic) The room was made every day and breakfast stocks replaced.
If you cant relax here then you are in serious trouble..

My partner and I stay in a variety of accommodation and are prepared to pay a price, unfortunately this one doesn't come up to speed. We never saw the owners for the entire 2 days, probably good in a way but it would have been good for a quick hello and "if there is anything you need". The place is in need of a refurb, bathroom is small and dirty with cracked tiles and mould in the shower and grouting, rusty tap ware over sink, cracked tiles and messy tile grouting around spa, cornice coming away from wall, cobwebs from ceiling and a few friendly daddy long legs to boot and the rusty door hinges, dirty marks around door handles and unplugged nail holes in door surround wood work really tops it off. Total upgrade needed here. The rest of the rooms are full of cracks and displaced cornices, nails left in walls from previous picture hangings. Really the owners need to spend some money on a refit and some basic maintenance and employ a stylist to coordinate the shabby tossed together decor, sorry it's awful. They obviously don't give a toss about the product they are selling and have no idea what good expensive accommodation is about. I bought this in a silent auction but unfortunately would not come back here or recommend it to anyone. The provisions were ok and the sleep really good, the driveway shrubs need a good cut back so you can get the car in and out without scratching the paintwork, maybe that's why the derelict mini is still parked at the end of the driveway.

My wife and I stayed here on our wedding night and were absolutely amazed with the accommodation and the little things that made this place the perfect to stay.

We booked both rooms as my wife and her bridal party stayed here the night before our wedding and everyone couldn't rave enough about how great this place was.

The book shelf wall is amazing, we wish we could have stayed on for longer!

It is with some difficulty I write this review as all reviews I have written have been positive. My partner and another couple stayed at the Vintage for a three night period over the New year period. We were greeted by the manager who seemed quite reasonable the first day to collect our keys. We waited until evening to see whether anyone would approach us in relation to our hot breakfast inclusion outlined when we booked, however no one came to see us. The following day my partner approached a male person in the garden about the breakfast provisions and he told us that a hot breakfast was no longer included. We were never advised of this and this was something that convinced us to book at the time. Very disappointing. The breakfast consists of cereal boxes, toast, milk and juice. On our final morning we found our milk had soured and we could not raise the manager to advise so we ended up going out for breakfast. On our second night the owners had people over who parked in our car space and proceeded to walk into our sleeping quarters before being escorted out by my partner. Our friends noted that on NYE they had a party and were playing music until very late. We went to a New Year's Eve function so it was well after midnight. While it's nice to be left alone during your stay at a bed and breakfast, we felt that the managers did not provide the hospitality and service you would expect from a bed and breakfast. We have stayed in many b&bs where the owners have a chat and show interest in your travels etc. This is one of the more expensive b&bs in Maclarenvale, I suspect you would find something much more reasonably priced with much better service. I was compelled to write this when I heard how equally disappointed our friends were that stayed with us which was their first experience in a b&b.

I would like to thank these guests for taking the time to review The Vintage. We take great pride in our business and the presentation of both suites. The hot breakfast has been replaced by some gourmet foods including a selection of cereals, home made muesli, yogurts and milk, fresh seasonal fruits, a selection of locally baked breads, jams, orange juice, a variety of teas and plunger coffee. Unfortunately my web designer was taken quite ill and remains in hospital. I hope to have my web site changed very soon. I have to say, that on NYE we were out until past 4pm at a party across the other side of town. I'm not sure why these guests would think there was a party going on at the property! I also feel that there may have been some ill feeling when on check out I asked these guests to pay for the three broken glasses that had been left smashed on the outside dining table the previous evening. I don't normally charge for broken glasses, in fact I don't believe I ever have, however there was no mention of it and no conversation concerning replacing them. Three expensive glasses including one riedel came to $30. Thank you for your feedback, we take all comments seriously and hope that all our guests leave happy and relaxed.

Having arrived in Adelaide and staying in McLaren Vale during the wettest days on record for a long time, could have been a negative, but it wasn't. Opening the door in to our room and viewing that beautiful four poster bed and surrounds quickly dispelled the cold and wet weather.
Having travelled from Margaret River we knew the storms that had left our state were decending on Adelaide, so we felt very much at home :-)
We had a wonderful 2 nights stay and would definately be back to spend longer.

Only one negative, the kettle didn't work and dispite leaving a note it wasn't replaced, Having said that we just used the microwave to heat the water.

The B&B was very nice. It's in a great location for all of McLaren Vale wineries and the view from the B&B was really nice. We stayed in the Library Suite for 2 nights. The room was unique and nicely laid out. The cooked hot breakfast was very nice.

One very big problem was the smell of sewerage in the room. The smell was so bad that we closed off the bathroom where most of the smell was coming from. Having to use the toilet and shower/bath made it quite disgusting with the smell. We were gagging when ever we had to use the bathroom. The smell was also coming from behind the bed. When waking up in the morning the first thing you smelt was sewerage and that was just not pleasant. We did complain about the smell but nothing was done about it. This ruined our whole experience.

Also the bath was very dirty so we were unable to use it which was a feature of the B&B. Open coffee was placed in the mini bar fridge making everything in the mini bar taste like coffee. Spreading butter and jam on toast that smell and tasted like coffee is not very nice. I had to stand on my toes to see in the room's only mirror in the bathroom. The tap in the sink sprays water all over the floor as the waterstream is not caught by the sink. At night it is quiet but in the morning there is quite a bit of road noise as trucks drive past nearby.

On the last morning we were there the power went out while I was taking a shower. This went off for quite a few minutes leaving me trapped in the shower/bath in pitch black before I screamed for help for my husband to come and light the room up for me with his mobile phone. I did find that quite dangerous.

We will not be returning to this B&B in the future due to our bad and smelly experience.

My partner and I stayed in the Spa Suite for two nights at a cost of $280/night

Pros - comfy bed, nice lounges, nice garden outside/views , heater above bed, area to make wood fire

Cons - high price, dodgy plumbing in bathroom, cold breakfast at what is supposed to be a b&b? (yoghurt, cereal, bread), nowhere to cook or clean dishes (only a small fridge/freezer and microwave supplied), small spa, tiny bins

In hind sight I would have chosen a different place to stay as what we got did not justify the high price we paid.

We needed a night away to relax and recharge and we are so happy that we can across the Vintage. We stayed in the Spa Suite which was perfect on a cold winters night with it's large spa and wood fire. We enjoyed wine and cheese by the fire before some chocolate and complementary port for dessert.

The Vintage is definitely luxurious. The bed was so comfortable and it was so relaxing going to sleep as the fire burnt out and then waking up to the birds of McLaren Vale. The continental breakfast with freshly baked bread and home made jams was a treat. The views from the property are stunning. I would certainly recommend this property for an amazing B&B experience...we just wish we could have stayed longer.

Thanks so much Ros. You were a wonderful host. We will be back.
