Stayed two nights in the motel where the room was large (1 queen and 2 single) and very clean. The bed was comfy and area very quiet (away from the highway - not that there's much traffic at night anyway). We used this as a base to explore the Southern Flinders Ranges and enjoyed getting back to our room to rest after a big day. The rooms are serviced daily so we came back to a refill of tea & coffee, the kettle was refilled with rainwater and our cups had been replaced with clean ones. Our only complaint was the expensive breakfast - $16 per person for a continental breakfast. After two nights that was $64 for toast, cereal, yoghurt & juice. We still enjoyed it though. Definitely no complaints about our host, Pavarti. Gorgeous!

Stayed for two nights for the Wilpena Under The Stars event. The room we had was very nice, no complaints at all. The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable and the room was of a good size. The hosts were great and we would have no hesitation in staying there again.

My wife and I stayed two nights in November 2014. A good bed, clean bathroom, good studio lounge but no plates, cutlery for breakfast. However the staff did give us some! Had a cold beer in the bar - good selection of beers in bottles. We would stay again.

This motel is a hidden gem. Stayed two nights with a bus group - centrally located, nice room with a view over the Flinders Ranges and superlative food. Unfortunately, I am told that the restaurant is only open to bus groups. Other caveat is that the internet only works in the reception/dining/bar and not in the rooms, so take a good book. Staff were friendly and helpful.

A group of friends have been walking sections of the Heysen trail for years and we're now near the end at Hawker. Being such a distance from Adelaide, logistics become tricky. this section of the trail we couldn't drive into so we needed lifts with our backpacks, and drivers to pick up our vehicles, look after them for a couple of days then bring them to our finishing point. Kylie John and Zac couldn't have been more helpful proving just the hiker support we needed. We stayed in the cabins which are warm, roomy and clean (with a tim tam in the fridge!) .The next morning they cooked the 7 of us a delicious breakfast, served in the great motel dining room. Off we went on the hike, and like clockwork they picked us up at the designated spot. As new owners of the business Kylie and co are doing all the right things and we thoroughly recommend them if staying in Hawker. All very reasonably priced.

I have been staying at the Outback as a tour operator for more than 10 years. My customers have always found it very comfortable - the rooms are large, always clean and quiet. The meals are all home cooked by the hostess and the menu offers a choice of dishes you would not expect in a small country town. Always accompanied by a selection of freshly cooked vegetables, and the desserts are home cooked and freshly prepared. All in all a great experience.

We stayed 2 nights in the holiday cottages which are a short distance from the motel and would recommend this option to anyone spending a couple on nights or more in Hawker. The cottages are 2 bedroom, lounge with dining table and kitchen. Small but comfortably furnished with everything you need. Very quiet area.

We travelled with Jingo and stayed with Mick & Jenny Webb at the Outback Chapmanton Motel as part of our tour through the Flinders Ranges. The room was really spacious, the biggest we'd had all trip, it was spotlessly clean, well fitted out. Mick and Jingo were a wealth of information over a couple of beers before a sumptuous meal.
Centrally located within walking distance of railway station and park. I would recommend as a stopoff to the Flinders Ranges

We had travelled through the outback for 2 weeks and this was a welcome find. The room was really spacious, the biggest we'd had all trip, it was spotlessly clean, well fitted out and the hosts, Mick & Jenny Webb were obliging, friendly and helpful. A very comfortable stay, plenty of pillows and bedding, and a very competitive price. I would use it again

This place, is definitely the pick of the bunch in a small-ish country town. The owner Mick was a real character and made our visit memorable. A true aussie, down to earth, genuine bloke, who let us connect with the outback. The hotel units (we stayed in these) were a stroll down the road and were clean, quiet and well equipped. Not the flashest 5star joint, (its not the crown casino in Melbouurne!) but everything you need (eg if you could be bothered self catering). Meals at the motel were country-style, well cooked and perfect for the outback. We were surprised by the quality of the food and the desserts were great. Hawker was a great base for a few days to explore the flinders ranges. We loved the stay at chapmanton/outback motel/units, it made our stay. Mick welcomed us wholeheartedly.
