Detailed Reviews
The Twin Room we stayed in was quite outdated even though advertised as refurbished, we felt it was quite overpriced for what it is. There were some squashed insects on the wall which was a bit disconcerting and there were quite a few mosquitoes inside and unfortunately no Mortein. Although free WiFi was offered we could not connect after following the instructions, and noticed that there was a swimming pool which was not filled with water even though it was advertised as available during the period we were there. We were disappointed overall with our choice of accommodation for the price we paid.

Our stay was enhanced by the size of the room, comfortable bed and leather couch to sit and read or watch T.V.
The room was well presented and clean.
We liked the separate sink for kettle water and washing cups and glasses.
There were challenges with the WiFi, but unfortunately there are many parts of Australia with poor Wi Fi and I expectGoolwa is one of them. Prior to Goolwa we had been on Kangaroo Island where WiFi is almost non existent.
We had breakfast in the cafe attached to the motel, it provided an adequate meal, staff were pleasant.

+1
This appears to be the best of the motel accommodation on offer in Goolwa. Excellent location on the main street, amongst the shops and restaurants. Easy flat walk to restaurants for dinner/takeaway.
The motel room interior and exterior were dated but clean. The inground swimming pool appears no longer; the pool fence is there but the pool appears to have been filled in and the area closed off for renovations.
Our room was very big, with plenty of room for our luggage, more pillows and blankets in the cupboard. A table with two chairs was the sitting area next to the window and we were glad to see management took window security seriously as the window could be firmly locked (important as we had a ground floor room opening onto the carpark).
Reception opens into Jack's Place, the cafe. Efficiently, the reception staff also run the Cafe (see my review on Jack's Place).
If we come through Goolwa again, we will stay here, and next time ask for a microwave oven in our room.

Please don't come here unless you like a cold shower and a rude owner. Booked for an overnight stay and the shower was cold. Contacted the owner who said at first a hot water system was not working. He later informed me it was working but the shower was still cold. Owner came to room to check and turned on hot tap only and it was cold. He then said how hot do you want it it's fine. I then asked him to leave and that was that. Was accused of trying to get some money off our bill also. Do not stay here it's very unprofessional and the worst owner and experience I have had and I am old so that's saying something....

We booked this 2 night accommodation in February 2022 as part of a South Australian road trip in April 2023. Quoted price was $280 for a Queen Room Twin for the 2 nights. Upon arriving we were given an upstairs room with very poor lighting in the last corner of motel and noisy area. Was definitely the worst room in the motel and when we requested another room were told price had gone up since we had booked and would have to pay $360. This was unacceptable as we had booked early and would have expected original price to be honored as would be excepted practice, We then rejected this and the person on the deck ( quite rude ) said we could have another suitable room for $40 extra . We had to reluctantly accept this as no other choice in town , however a very poor experience and would never recommend this motel to anyone.

She's an old school motel... Could do with some updating...
But: Bed was comfy, room was clean.
Nice large room
Easy check in & check out.
Shower pressure was great!
I would recommend asking for a room that does not have access to the street, there is no privacy if you want to open the door to let some air in or light and we were in room 12, right next to the kitchen & right next door to the Sunday morning diners having their breakfast which affected our sleep in a little bit.
Didn't try their cafe as we had found Mother Duck the day before prior to check in & it was sensational, so we went back for breakfast after checking out. Hubby also loved the bakery next door and got a couple of things to take home.

We stayed in the family room number 10.
The room was very clean, large and the bed was comfortable.
The small kitchenette is located in the bathroom but there was no microwave to enable us to heat up anything. I did enquire if there was a kitchenette when I booked but maybe it isn’t a thing in south Australia to have a microwave.
There were no windows in the second room which was completely bricked in. This was a bit claustrophobic.
The reception was very nice and so my only problem was the actually set up of the room.

Great motel to stay at. The room was spacious and clean. My only grumble and disappointment was that I booked the queen spa room. The spa didn't work. We were very disappointed as this was a special weekend for my husband and myself. Also they advertised free wifi. The wifi lasted for 5 minutes. I would stay there again if in the area. That was the other thing. They advertised a pool. Well the pool was covered and not for use.

Room was great and glad I was on ground floor as stairs and luggage are daunting as we get older. Comfortable with all needed amenities. Very easy to get to local eateries and shops but also a good restaurant on site. Friendly staff, great off street parking
