Detailed Reviews
Have stayed in Wilpena pound resort and heard from others who have as well, the resort is not well cleaned or maintained. It appears that it isn't well managed or looked after.
Rawnsley Park Station is run by lovely people, and has a delightful restaurant nearby that does a mean pizza. Accommodation varies with price, cheap cabins for up to 6 people with a fully equipped kitchenette are what we went for. Works out between 50-210pp a night depending how many you others you stay with.
The hot water is great, kicks in straight away and water pressure is good. Beds have electric blankets. It's very clean. It's quiet. Only has 500mb free wifi, also the phone signal is terrible so you want wifi. The walls are very thin so we could hear the TV going from the cabin next door. Still.. everyone in the area was quiet at night so there weren't any noise problems.

We stayed in a one bedroom eco-villa for 3 nights and they are probably the most luxurious place to stay in the Flinders Ranges. The villas are away from the cabins and off the road that goes to the Caravan Park so are private. There is satellite TV but getting mobile coverage on your phone can be difficult. The villas are open space, clean and give great views of Rawnsley Bluff and the Elder Ranges. There is a nice verandah to sit out on with an outside BBQ (and rainwater tank). Provisions for a continental breakfast are included but for the price of the villas we thought they could have been better. As an eco-villa amenities in the kitchen and bathroom are of the refillable kind rather than disposable which was good to see. The retractable roof in the bedroom is a bit of a gimmick (sleeping under the stars ???) but you need to close it before sleeping unless you want to be awaken early by the sun. For a treat, a nice place to stay. The Woolshed restaurant is a 5 minute drive away and definitely worth the visit but you need to prebook or you won't get in.

From the moment we arrived at reception, the vibe just kept getting better and better, from the two chickens who appeared from no where and started cleaning the squashed insects from our car bumper (which really made us laugh) then the friendliness of the reception staff. Our unit was called Hakea and it was amazing and exactly as shown on the online pictures. This is not always the case with some booking sites and you are shown the best only to find it is not the same as viewed. We were blown away as we entered the door - it was like Wow! So much attention to detail and the amenities and breakfast provisions were more than generous and not just minimum quantities for 3 people. Really incredible. The view was also amazing and we spent the first day reclining on the verandah, relaxing in absolute peace and serenity with the birdlife and occasional kangaroo. The kitchen had everything we needed and was well stocked with equipment. Also had a dishwasher, and washing machine too. We took the morning tour through the two gorges and our host was 'Maddy' an enthusiatic and well informed tour guide and kept us entertained with a host of facts. We were so pleased to be on this tour. We cant wait to stay at the eco villas again and can highly recommend Rawnsley Park.

We’re a family group of 12 who love bush camping, but also love showers and flushing toilets. This park was the best of both worlds.
Bush camp was excellent with beautiful views of Rawnsley Bluff. Toilet and shower block was clean and neat (& had a dump point).
We were welcomed by 2 lovely ladies in their office/shop - which was excellent!!! Stocked with wine, other essentials including fresh milk and the stations own lamb - which was delicious!!! Fire wood available for purchase.
The rec room/kitchen was also excellent - with a wood fire to watch the AFL Footy by.
Thanks Rawnsley Park, you were the loveliest stop!

I normally stay at Wilpena because of the more central location, shadier campsites and access to the bar/restaurant, but Rawnsley was a great alternative on my last visit. It was forecast to be hot (40+ degrees), so we got a very affordable park cabin with air conditioning. It was great. Everything at Rawnsley was clean and tidy. But I'd say the best thing is the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They are fully invested in the operation and are there to please. Beware of the huntsmans (giant spiders) though!

My daughter and I couldn't have asked for a better experience on our recent hiking tour of the Flinders Ranges.
Firstly, the eco-villas are amazing - beautifully clean, amazing amenities including air-conditioning and a washer/dryer. Delightful verandah overlooking the ranges, so picturesque. Well equipped kitchen, lovely bathroom and comfy beds.
We ate in the Woolshed Restaurant every night except when we swagged on the Chace Range (all meals included in the price). The food was outstanding and the staff so friendly and helpful. We ate breakfast in our villa which was supplied by Rawnsley Park and lunch was usually a delicious wrap, fruit, cake and juice.
All the daily hikes were completely different but so interesting. Our favourite had to be the hike to Rawnsley Bluff and then lunch overlooking Wilpena pound. The highlight of the week was the chopper flight up to Chace Range in the afternoon then spending the evening watching the sunset and stars. A delicious curry and a good sleep in deluxe swags. We wouldn't consider ourselves "happy campers" but we both loved this experience.
Finally, a huge shout out to Kym, our trusty guide for the week. Kym is one fit and knowledgeable man with a fabulous sense of humour. We shared plenty of laughs and he taught us much about the incredible Flinders Ranges.
I couldn't recommend this tour more highly.

We stayed in a cabin for 2 nights.
The cabin was large with a comfortable bed and good facilities, including air conditioning.
Each cabin has a large front balcony.
Tank water is supplied in a separate tap near the sink. There are clean gas BBQs available.
The only issue is that all the roads on the station are dusty which can coat the balcony with dust due to traffic. Some suitable road base material would reduce this problem.
The restaurant food, while expensive, is excellent.
Helicopter flights are available on the station.
Overall we were happy with the accommodation.

When you enter the villa it's a WOW! Just as you wanted it to be, spacious, impeccably clean, kitchen better stocked than ours at home, huge bathroom, internet (lucky we are with Optus as they have their own tower), scored the all important views to the Pound and the sunset. Don't take any breakfast provisions as it's all supplied and more. Nespresso machine for the coffee fix. Want to see stars at night? How about whole constellations! Retractable roof a bit of a gimmick. Some tips...Apple Car Play Nav stops short on the road from Hawker so just keep going you will see the entry sign on the left. The shop on site is very basic, the IGA in Wilpena is quite good, even has fresh meat. We didn't try the restaurant, as the villa was so good we didn't want to leave. Each villa comes with its own clean bbq, so lovely to cook up a storm, with a nice glass of red just looking at the view. Us city types are used to having the accom cleaned after returning from a big day out but be prepared for it to be done later in the afternoon, which we found inconvenient. Stayed in some great places, this is one of the more memorable

We booked for 2 nights but loved Rawnsley Park and its environment that we stayed for 6. The Caravan Park was well set out under shady trees and terraced up the slopes. Spectacular views of the Ranges all around. Amenities were spotlessly clean and modern. A great place to use as a base for exploring the Finders Ranges. Our dinner of Rawnsley Lamb at The Woolshed Restaurant was amazing. . A big thank you to Mel, James and their daughters for looking after our needs and for being so super friendly as were the Staff at the restaurant. Hopefully we will be back next year. Ann and Collin

We booked two nights at eco-villa. The environment is beautiful and facilities are reasonably good by considering the location.
The website didn’t show any breakfast included for the price we paid, and asked for extra $30 plus per head for continental breakfast. We didn’t order the breakfast as my partner is muslin. The day before our arrival, I was confirming the kitchen facilities via email and staff revealed that our booking actually includes continental breakfast provision. We were lucky we didn’t order breakfast when I made the booking, otherwise we will get charged extra $30 plus per head for one croissant, two pieces of bread and two eggs.
The owner should consider better pest control for the villa. The mosquitoes were everywhere within the villa and we got loads of bites over two nights.
Pillows are way too soft. Owner should consider provide better pillows for so called luxury stay and the price charged.

Thank you for your review 408tinay. Our Rawnsley Park Station website states that continental breakfast provision are supplied with the Eco-Villas, however we will investigate why the website asked you to purchase additional breakfast provisions. We have our maintenance team investigating the mosquito issue and will raise the your concerns over the pillows with the owners for their consideration.
