Beautiful relaxing park on a lovely lake in a quiet town.
We stayed 7 nights on power site with views across the lake,, enjoyed many stunning sunsets.
Greet location for trips to other towns along the Murray River.
The town itself had a great supermarket, with friendly people.
Fabulous walking path along the lake.
The park offers so many options for all visitors. Will be back.

Lake Bonney Caravan Park is located near the Yacht club and is well maintained with 2 pool areas. The signposting of Parking spaces is confusing whereby one set of signs says the location shown on the plan was B17 (a small site) whereas the power outlet says C17. The weather was ideal so we thought we might stay another night but on asking we were told we would have to move to another space. 'Perhaps the one alongside'. The whole area around us was empty. Not a single other occupant on a week night in an area with 40 similar caravan spaces. Surely someone who had not arrived could be directed to another space.

We stayed early April in a deluxe lake view 2 bedroom cabin. We found the cabin not the best equipped in terms of utensils, pans etc minimal available. We were left one roll of toilet roll for a 4 night stay did not have to anticipate going out to buy this, staying in a deluxe cabin. The washing tools left were basic, washing liquid watered down, tiny amount left and half a green scouring pad. That said the views were stunning from the cabin. A little disapointed with the camp organisation. A movie night (movie unspecified) was advertised planned to view that eve went to main reception an hour before to find out which movie was on and the staff still didn’t know what they were going to show?!!! Come on when you have family you do like to organise a little. The camp was clean next to lake, a peaceful stay, not a great deal around the camp
Itself would probably choose renmark next time as prefer a little more life, this location is great if you are looking for simplicity and away from it all.

My family has been staying at the Lake Bonney Caravan Park for more than 30 years. Over the last 10 years or so, we have seen the park go downhill significantly. While money has been spent on the waterpark, a new pool and new cabins, other areas have fallen into major disrepair. The camp sites in the first couple of rows have no grass on them, making summer stays hot, dusty and dirty. All other Riverland caravan parks have beautiful lush lawns, so I do not know why Barmera has such bad camp sites. The only sprinklers that were on during our two week stay were around the waterpark.
The amenities blocks get extremely dirty and are only checked once a day. They are never cleaned very well, with dirty spots behind doors and along skirting boards remaining in the same dirty condition during our stay. On several occasions they ran out of toilet paper and hand soap.
Instead of bins dotted throughout the park, there are big skip bins in a couple of locations including right by our campsite. The bins get full quickly and stink on hot days. Discovery Parks need to employ more people and improve their cleaning and maintenance standards.
While the office staff we spoke to are very nice and try to help, they are simply too understaffed to make a difference. Our family is seriously considering going to a different caravan park next summer.
It's so sad to see that this once great park is now in this state.

Hi Angie, thank you so much for taking the time to leave your review. We’re sorry to read of your disappointment and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We take pride in the maintenance and cleanliness of our Parks and we’re working really hard to find more efficient ways, especially during difficult peak periods and times of drought, to maintain a greener, cleaner park. After an ill fated trip to Port Vincent I swore I would never stay in another caravan park. (Port Vincent review also on this site). However, friends were going to Barmera for the weekend and asked us to go, for just one night.
Our cabin was perfect. It was spacious for the two of us, and had a spare bedroom just in case our grandsons wanted a bed instead of their tent. The bathroom had new fittings and was clean. Linen was white and crisp. The kitchen was well supplied with utensils etc. and had a full stove, microwave, toaster and kettle. I noticed little touches too like toiletries in the bathroom, and aluminium bar b que trays in the oven for roasting. The owners had kindly turned on the aircon for us on arrival and it was very pleasant while outside it was hitting the low 40s.
The entertainment areas were amazing - a water park, a swimming pool and a playground with jumpy pillow. There was also equipment to hire, if you wanted to do activities on the lake. Apparently also a games room, but we didn't use that.
The park was absolutely full of families with kids, but there was no excessive noise except kids having fun and it was quiet at night.
I was only there five minutes, sitting on the lake edge when I got into a conversation with two very polite teenage boys who were asking about our jet boat and telling me how they had both just studied for their boat licences. Later at the pool I got into a conversation with a man who was also there with his grandchildren. I couldn't believe how friendly everyone was and respectful of others.
I would highly recommend this park to anyone who is interested in water sports, but even if you are not, sitting on the edge of the lake enjoying a cold drink and the magnificent view is very relaxing.

After hearing so many great things about Lake Bonney I booked a stay with some friends to celebrate my 40th. First impression was not a good one as we arrived on check in time only to be told our cabin was not ready and the staff at the front desk would call in about 30 minutes when ready which they didn’t. The weather was extremely hot so was looking forward to cooling off at the pool. The pools were extremely dirty with a layer residue at the top of the water. The two pools were also over crowded, which was less than ideal when wanting to enjoy some recreational activity. We paid over $1000.00 to stay four nights in a standard cabin. The room on arrival was ridiculously hot. The write up said full kitchen facilities so was disappointed to find no toaster for toasting bread. The fridge didn’t seem super cold, and we think only turned immediately prior to our arrival in the room. So the food we bought up in the car was unable to be cooled down straight away. My husband had to sweep the floor on arrival. Our friends camped and their camp site was a dust bowl - no grass. We ended up leaving on day three not staying the last night as we’d done everything and there really was nowhere to escape the heat unless you wanted to sit in a filthy pool again. Safe to say we will not return as I can think of many other places I can go for $1000 that offer a lot more.

Booked an en-suite as we do not have a shower in a caravan. Park was very hard to contact and we did not get the correct price as we put the wrong discount code in.
When we got there the en-suite was old but clean and tidy. But when we went to use the shower it was terrible. Went hot and cold and very hard to have a reasonable shower. Also what we didn’t realise was that the en-suite where near the main highway and very noisy. Trucks going through all night. Was quite a large caravan park and Did not have enough bbqs for the amount of people that wanted them. They good thinks about the pArk were their cabins and the extras they had for children, especially the water park, swimming pool and playground. It was also right on Lake Bonney. Do to ow it We would go again but good for families

We had a deluxe 6 birth cabin for 3 of us. Super clean, beautiful beds and linen. Lovely deck out for the front and individual carport which was excellent. It was school holidays so the camp ground was jammed pack but even so they appear to cater really well for such a crowd. Our cabin was set away from the general camp ground in a beautifully manicured lawned area with lovely shrubs and vines separating the cabins.
Minor issues
Lounge degrading which left a large amount of debris in floor
No chopping board
No servicing in a 4 night stay. We had garbags. toilet paper and a broom but a quick vacuum would be fab
Son was told he couldn’t hire a live vest at 3.58pm. (Last rental 4pm) Seriously it’s the school holidays give the kid a break. This was an individuals poor customer service not a representation of the park.

We booked 2 nights for a premium Lake front powered site, $154 member rates. The “premium” referred to the view close to the water.
The site was all dirty sand resembling a desert except that deserts are clean. In front of us were unpowered sites blocking the “premium view” (see photo 1) but we were lucky that the people in front of us couldn’t stand the dirt bowl and moved on early to Berri.
We had to trudge through the sand/dirt or mud from the splashed pool water to get to the short path out from the toilets (see photo 2).
There was also the waft of sewage from time to time to finish off the unpleasant experience.
There were other sites with grass but further away from the water. In hindsight if we were forced to stay again we would go there, but once bitten, twice shy and will not return. We have checked out options at Berri and Renmark and will go that way for our next stay.

We just stayed there and yes, there is a large fire pit there you can use. You can also hire fire bowls for $10 to use on your powered/unpowered site (not cabins). You can buy wood or bring your own.
