The Yungaburra Hotel is the pride of the Atherton Tablelands, attracting visitors with its Federation architecture and displays of historic photographs of the area's early saw milling days. The hotel was built in 1910 with the coming of the railway, and immediately became the hub of the region. Visitors marvel at the timber facade and interior. Cedar and oak are everywhere around the hotel. The local timbers make an attractive and durable structure. No cyclone could ever harm the Yungaburra Hotel. The art deco extension to the hotel, built in the early twenties, is just as beautiful as the earlier section. The hotel boasts 30 rooms, two bars, one of the Tablelands busiest restaurants, private function rooms, and an enchanting garden. The hotel is especially popular with families and couples who come up from the coast for a night or more to cool down and relax. At 720m above sea level, the climate is mild and refreshing.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Wow this place certainly polarises opinions and seems to not meet a lot of travellers expectations .. ! We didn’t see any reviews as we were passing through and it looked like a historic building to have lunch , in nice country town .. Between us …We had steak sandwiches , Bangers and mash sourced from the local butcher three or four doors up the street and roast pork in a daily roast format .. the meals were incredibly affordable , nice and tasty .. and great value . We walked around the place , a majestic timber heritage building , the second largest timber hotel structure in Australia apparently , and not something we expected to see in the relatively remote FNQ Tablelands .. This is a pub , a delightful old pub , with cold local beer on draft , friendly staff , nice pub grub , and it gives you all you’d expect from this format . We paid more for a marmite toast and coffee breakfast in Brisbane than we did here for two main meals and drinks ! Let’s get things in perspective people .. Pop in .. soak up the history and don’t expect the earth , then you won’t be disappointed

A group of four passing through Yungaburra visited the hotel for lunch thus experiencing the worst meals ever eaten.2 burgers with reheated meat but barely warm. Thrown together with ok chips. 2 dishes of bangers and mash with insipid runny mash and a few withered vegetables and some gravy. The cook can’t cook, obviously doesn’t care needs to be sacked.

The food was one of the worst meals I have ever had. The outrageously priced snapper ‘special’ was microwaved and tough. I took it home for my dog as I couldn’t eat it. The avocado salsa was brown and old. Nothing about the dish was fresh. The garlic prawns ( again outrageously priced) was bland and microwaved. The dogs got that too. Would never ever go back there for a meal.

My wife and I ate here today. I have never had to send a meal back before but today I sent both our meals back and ask for a refund. The food was absolutely disgusting and the staff more interested in eating behind the bar and texting on their phone

After Reading the previous reviews I thought I must have been at the wrong pub. My wife and I with another couple dined here on a Friday night. The food was very ordinary, no doubt our worst meal since leaving home. The chips were cold and the fish dry. The smallest T bone in Qld and the chicken parm also not good. For close to $30 a main we deserve better. The beer glasses seemed like they were not cleaned properly and could not hold a head. My friend returned his second beer to only be asked what was wrong with it. Maybe they like their beer like this in North Queensland. It’s a shame because it is a strikingly beautiful old pub.

This is a pretty little tourist town and the hotel is well worth stopping at for a drink or meal while visiting. The staff are friendly and very efficient and we really enjoyed our pizza. Take the time to look inside the main hallway to view the wall mounted pictures from the past dating back to the 1800s & learn all about the Williams family and the amazing history of this area.

Happened across this place at lunch time, checked out the menu and decided to eat here. The kids Bolognese was great (and cheapest we’ve come across on our trip), and the pizza and schnitzel were also very good. Loved sitting outside, at a table on the sidewalk, watching the world go by, with a nice, relaxed meal. An enjoyable stop. Such a beautiful old building too.

I had a steak burger. The steak was a bit tough, the salad was ok. Cheese slice not melted and bun hardly toasted and very soft. Chips were cold and old. I had to ask for replacement. My wife had a lamb shank swimming in gravy. Real shame but I would not recommend eating here
