The Yungaburra Hotel is the pride of the Atherton Tablelands, attracting visitors with its Federation architecture and displays of historic photographs of the area's early saw milling days. The hotel was built in 1910 with the coming of the railway, and immediately became the hub of the region. Visitors marvel at the timber facade and interior. Cedar and oak are everywhere around the hotel. The local timbers make an attractive and durable structure. No cyclone could ever harm the Yungaburra Hotel. The art deco extension to the hotel, built in the early twenties, is just as beautiful as the earlier section. The hotel boasts 30 rooms, two bars, one of the Tablelands busiest restaurants, private function rooms, and an enchanting garden. The hotel is especially popular with families and couples who come up from the coast for a night or more to cool down and relax. At 720m above sea level, the climate is mild and refreshing.

Wow this place certainly polarises opinions and seems to not meet a lot of travellers expectations .. !

We didn’t see any reviews as we were passing through and it looked like a historic building to have lunch , in nice country town ..

Between us …We had steak sandwiches , Bangers and mash sourced from the local butcher three or four doors up the street and roast pork in a daily roast format .. the meals were incredibly affordable , nice and tasty .. and great value .

We walked around the place , a majestic timber heritage building , the second largest timber hotel structure in Australia apparently , and not something we expected to see in the relatively remote FNQ Tablelands ..

This is a pub , a delightful old pub , with cold local beer on draft , friendly staff , nice pub grub , and it gives you all you’d expect from this format .

We paid more for a marmite toast and coffee breakfast in Brisbane than we did here for two main meals and drinks !
Let’s get things in perspective people ..

Pop in .. soak up the history and don’t expect the earth , then you won’t be disappointed

Went their for dinner on Tuesday night meal was terrible I had roast pork and vegetables pork was very thinly cut and tough roast potatoes still had skin on and not cooked properly. I’m allergic to skins so had to peel of my husband had ribs chips and salad , chips were freezing Said ribs were average. The lady serving looked like she couldn’t even be bothered serving. Was very disappointed as I have eaten there before and food beautiful won’t recommend to anyone.

friendly staff and cold beer, plenty of options with the drinks and they also have a very well priced lunch and dinner menu, I think there are plenty of options food wise even for kids. we sat outside and the little town was very clean and lots of nice hanging baskets of flowers. spring at it best.

My family of four ducked in for a quick lunch and spent close to $90.00. I had the steak and it was like a thin slice of sandwich devon. My wife had the fish which was soggy as the oil wasn’t hot enough when fried. The table we sat at was sticky and felt unhygienic. It felt like we were doing the wait staff a favour by handing over our hard earned $$$. We walked out after a mouthful each- dissatisfied. Could have been great, as the location and premises is very good, the lacklustre underperforming staff and unenthusiastic chef let it all down. Is it really that hard to get pub food right!!? I want my cash back!

Why I bothered to eat here I will never know.

Entering the place and seeing that it was dirty and in desperate need for renovation was the first clue to turn around and leave.

The indifferent, rude and bored looking staff should have been the second clue to find somewhere else spend our money.

Despite early indications we were still hopeful of a good meal , given the high prices from the basic menu

I wanted to order the chicken parmigiana but it was $26 and I wasn’t going to take the risk. I opted for sausages and mash, my wife chose the rissoles and mash, both priced at $19 each

To say the food was awful was an understatement.
The mash was lumpy, the two sausages were shrivelled, a clear indication that that had been deep fried. The meal came with frozen vegetables, I would have preferred an extra sausage, or maybe not, considering how discussing they were.

The rissoles were no better, dry, burnt and clearly re-heated.

My wife paid for the meal and was having issues in scanning her bank card on the scanning machine. To her amazement, when my wife attempted to scan her card again, the staff member actually slapped her hand away, saying just wait for it .

It is so disappointing and frustrating that places like this continue to turn out crap food, poor customer service, but still manage to charge high prices. It is an absolute insult to the poor customers who are unfortunate enough to frequent these dumps.

Never will I return to this dreary outdated excuse for a hotel and I recommend you to find somewhere else to eat and drink.
This place will surely spoil your entire day1.

Arrived there for dinner and went to the bar to buy a bottle of wine. The barmaid said I would have to go into the bottle shop (which you could see into from the bar as there was a doorway to it) make a selection and come back here to pay for it. I made my choice went to the bar and asked for 2 wine glasses. The barmaid said that would be an extra $10 corkage. I was gobsmacked and said you are kidding me! You are going to charge me $10 corkage for a bottle of wine you just sold me? She said that was to cover costs of washing the glasses and all pubs do it. You do the right thing by supporting local business and they turn around and rip you off!

The food was one of the worst meals I have ever had. The outrageously priced snapper ‘special’ was microwaved and tough. I took it home for my dog as I couldn’t eat it. The avocado salsa was brown and old. Nothing about the dish was fresh.
The garlic prawns ( again outrageously priced) was bland and microwaved. The dogs got that too.
Would never ever go back there for a meal.

My wife and I ate here today. I have never had to send a meal back before but today I sent both our meals back and ask for a refund. The food was absolutely disgusting and the staff more interested in eating behind the bar and texting on their phone

A group of four passing through Yungaburra visited the hotel for lunch thus experiencing the worst meals ever eaten.2 burgers with reheated meat but barely warm. Thrown together with ok chips. 2 dishes of bangers and mash with insipid runny mash and a few withered vegetables and some gravy.
The cook can’t cook, obviously doesn’t care needs to be sacked.
