I had a steak burger. The steak was a bit tough, the salad was ok. Cheese slice not melted and bun hardly toasted and very soft. Chips were cold and old. I had to ask for replacement. My wife had a lamb shank swimming in gravy. Real shame but I would not recommend eating here
Excellent food and great service. The pizza was so fresh and tasty. Nice cold beer on tap. I would highly recommend calling in to enjoy for a refreshing break and clean great food. The staff were friendly.
I love this pub for its character and history. Bar staff are usually friendly and it’s a great spot for a drink. Previously had good meals there but a good while ago. My lunch today was easilsly the worst food I’ve ever eaten. Supposed to be a special for lunch, chilli coconut crumbed mackerel with smashed chat potatos and Asian slaw. Sounds amazing and healthy, right? The fish was dry and I suspect from a box. Might’ve swum past a mackerel at some point in its life but it wasn’t mackerel itself. The chat potatoes were, I suspect, left over spuds from last night’s roast that had been deep fried beyond recognition. The Asian slaw was a bunch of cabbage roughly torn with some red onion that had been sitting in dressing too long. The tastiest thing from the whole meal were the chips I picked from my husbands plate. His steak burger wasn’t much better than my meal, but that’s his review. Drink here, but eat at your own risk. 🤢…
Went their for dinner on Tuesday night meal was terrible I had roast pork and vegetables pork was very thinly cut and tough roast potatoes still had skin on and not cooked properly. I’m allergic to skins so had to peel of my husband had ribs chips and salad , chips were freezing Said ribs were average. The lady serving looked like she couldn’t even be bothered serving. Was very disappointed as I have eaten there before and food beautiful won’t recommend to anyone.
My family of four ducked in for a quick lunch and spent close to $90.00. I had the steak and it was like a thin slice of sandwich devon. My wife had the fish which was soggy as the oil wasn’t hot enough when fried. The table we sat at was sticky and felt unhygienic. It felt like we were doing the wait staff a favour by handing over our hard earned $$$. We walked out after a mouthful each- dissatisfied. Could have been great, as the location and premises is very good, the lacklustre underperforming staff and unenthusiastic chef let it all down. Is it really that hard to get pub food right!!? I want my cash back!
I'm a new local and eager to support the town. Had 3 meals over this month and shouted 3 desserts on another night. Absolute worst food ever eaten at a hotel. Nice and friendly bar service from the ladies but will never ever eat there until they get a new chef.
Arrived there for dinner and went to the bar to buy a bottle of wine. The barmaid said I would have to go into the bottle shop (which you could see into from the bar as there was a doorway to it) make a selection and come back here to pay for it. I made my choice went to the bar and asked for 2 wine glasses. The barmaid said that would be an extra $10 corkage. I was gobsmacked and said you are kidding me! You are going to charge me $10 corkage for a bottle of wine you just sold me? She said that was to cover costs of washing the glasses and all pubs do it. You do the right thing by supporting local business and they turn around and rip you off!
Great food, especially pub classics Great ambience. Very nice to sit outside as well in this very pretty little village. Staff very friendly and service prompt. Definitely worth a visit just to look at the old photos.
Why I bothered to eat here I will never know. Entering the place and seeing that it was dirty and in desperate need for renovation was the first clue to turn around and leave. The indifferent, rude and bored looking staff should have been the second clue to find somewhere else spend our money. Despite early indications we were still hopeful of a good meal , given the high prices from the basic menu I wanted to order the chicken parmigiana but it was $26 and I wasn’t going to take the risk. I opted for sausages and mash, my wife chose the rissoles and mash, both priced at $19 each To say the food was awful was an understatement. The mash was lumpy, the two sausages were shrivelled, a clear indication that that had been deep fried. The meal came with frozen vegetables, I would have preferred an extra sausage, or maybe not, considering how discussing they were. The rissoles were no better, dry, burnt and clearly re-heated. My wife paid for the meal and was having issues in scanning her bank card on the scanning machine. To her amazement, when my wife attempted to scan her card again, the staff member actually slapped her hand away, saying just wait for it . It is so disappointing and frustrating that places like this continue to turn out crap food, poor customer service, but still manage to charge high prices. It is an absolute insult to the poor customers who are unfortunate enough to frequent these dumps. Never will I return to this dreary outdated excuse for a hotel and I recommend you to find somewhere else to eat and drink. This place will surely spoil your entire day1.…
We are 2 older ladies . So we thought would be an experience to spend the night in a such historical place ! the guy said " its basic " but that doesn t mean dirty !!! so we went upstairs( the stairs carpet saw better days not been clean for a long time ) Then the bedroom; smelly carpet with holes ;top bunk with dirty sheet;dirty windows rotten frames with dead flies;dirty curtains ceiling with stains due to water leak; bathroom vanity cupboard crumbling away ;shower rose at 1.20m height . At 80$ ITS A DUMP should be co ndemned; lucky we didn t get bed bugs !!
