Jenny and Jorg are fantastic hosts, friendly and welcoming, with lots of tips and advice. The room is very comfortable and the spa was a delight! The breakfasts are delicious. The grounds are wonderful for birding, and the easy walk to see playtus and flying foxes was great! I can't imagine a better place to stay in the area..

we stayed 'for a romantic weekend away, the hosts were lovely and very helpful on arrival, the breakfast was always fresh and on time, the room cleanliness was so/so considering the amount we paid I would not have expected dirty tissues cobwebs and lolly wrappers behind the bedside tables, the open fire was a lovely touch, we never made use of the spa while we were there and it was way to cold to use the pool . the surrounds were lovely and a short walk to town, we enjoyed lunch at the local pub and the restaurant to the far end of town Flynn's was to die for with the service and food just impeccable. Would return to this B&B in future however I would be seeking out a discounted rate somewhere as the rooms are a little tired.

Thanks so much for your review. We are always very open to feedback and appreciate you taking the time. I cannot apologise enough for the lolly wrappers that you found. That is absolutely inexcusable. I will make sure that it never happens again. We do try to make sure that the rooms are as clean as possible. As a family-run business, we are constantly working on keeping up with the maintenance as well as making improvements to the place, so we hope that if you decide to return to us you will find things a little refreshed. And you will have have enough time to relax in the spa!!

If we had known the wonderful atmosphere, the magnificent landscapes and the amazing wildlife before, we surely would have stayed longer at Jörg & Penny's lovely B&B in Yungaburra, the heart of Atherton Tablelands!
Gumtree on Gillies is perfectly located in Yungaburra, right next to Peterson Creek to go see the rare Platypus and Lumholz Tree Kangaroo. We spotted several Platypus in the creek & thanks to a friendly jogger heard of the tip with Nerada Tea Factory to see the tree kangaroos! It is great to see that Jörg & Penny have started a huge revegetation project on their property & chances are high to see tree-kangaroos during breakfast once the trees have grown ;)
Unfortunately we didn't get to know Jörg & Penny in person since it was school holidays and they were travelling with their kids, but Vicki was a perfect host for us during our stay in the African Room.
All we have to do now is to work out how we can come back to this paradise on our way back south ;)

Thank you, Jorg and Penny for helping my sight-impaired sister, enjoy her Christmas holiday @ Gumtree on Gillies. We stayed in the Moroccan Room and found it so beautiful. Penny is so happy-go-lucky, and made us feel comfortable, (nothing was "too-much-trouble".) I enjoyed patting the resident CAT..(who greeted me on the back patio, early morning)....and the tranquility of the units is a real plus. Thanks again for making our stay so special.

I stayed here for just one night with my partner a couple of weeks ago. We wish we'd had longer to spend here because it was so relaxing. The themed room had so much attention to detail. We stayed in the Moroccan room and there were DVD's of movies set in Morocco, guide books on the country, a potpourri bag somewhere which gave the room a subtle spicy scent. The complimentary port which was delicious, the fire already stocked and ready to go, and a beautiful big spa bath with a hanging lantern for ambiance.
The surrounding area was gorgeous, with a lovely walk through a field and orchard to a river where we spotted a platypus.
The breakfast was also complimentary and was amazing. I forgot to ask where they got the croissants because they were amazing. And the bircher muesli was very tasty and fresh. I loved that they had locally grown ground coffee in the fridge for the plunger - a must for a coffee lover. They also had fresh seasonal fruit juice which I'm pretty sure was grown on the trees in their lovely garden outside our room.
Thank you so much Penny and Jorg for creating such a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. I will be highly recommending your place to friends and coworkers. Hope to come back and stay again one day :)

Our stay in the Moroccan room was very pleasant with a great fire place to handle the morning chill. You couldn't find a better place to be centrally located in the tablelands. Penny & Jorg are gracious and charming and made our stay a wonderful experience.

Very impressed, Penny and Jorge were excellent hosts, nothing was to much trouble, especially Penny helping us out with her local knowledge of places that we really wanted to see.Nice little touches like the port, chocs, soft drinks and local coffee.It was very relaxing in our spacious room and king sized bed. One little little negative was the hard backed chairs that were a little uncomfortable but we spent very little time in them as we spent most of the time exploring the tablelands. It is a nice central location for exploring.

My husband and I had two nights accommodation in the African Room while touring the Atherton Tablelands. Gumtree on Gillies really is a lovely place to stay! The room was decorated with authentic east African handicrafts (we were able to swap east Africa stories with Penny having also lived there!) and was spacious and immaculately clean. The breakfasts - we had all 4 between us over the two days - were delicious and filling. Penny had lots of good suggestions for touring and was a terrific host - there when we needed her but never invading our privacy. We heartily recommend this B&B!

Had a lovely night away with my husband sans kids! We stayed in the Moroccan Room. Very authentic feeling. Loved that we could watch "Casablanca" from our bed. The room was beautifully decorated with Moroccan furniture. The spa bath was divine. You definitely will not starve with the delicious breakfast! We couldn't get through it all! We were here 8 years ago and believe this time it was even better! Highly recommended.

We had a fabulous two-night stay in August. The Australian room was wonderful - far more space than we needed, comfy bed, huge spa bath and breakfasts served in our room. It was peaceful and secluded (but not too far from Yungaburra). Free local telephone calls and internet were a lovely touch. If it wasn't so far from UK I would book us in for another couple of nights before Christmas.
