The Pelican Fuel Stop & Caravan Park is a small family owned and operated business located in the main street of Winton in Western Queensland. Winton is well known for its award - winning Waltzing Matilda Centre, Boulder Opal, links to Qantas and of course The Australian Age of Dinosaurs Museum. For our vans, we offer powered sites only, checking in from 11am, with grass or concrete sites, free guest laundry, dump point and BBQ facilities and our new queen cabins have been very popular with an outdoor garden area, free guest laundry, BBQ facilities, flat screen TV, equipped kitchenette and checking in from 2pm. We love our pets and welcome them in the van park but strictly not in our cabins. Our business is seasonal and opens from April through to September each year.

Detailed Reviews
We loved the location of this park as we walked into town for dinner. There are trees at this park and the service is lovely, informative on weather etc. Be prepared the water stinks as it is artesian. Just drink something over the drains to stop the smell, simple. We would return.

This is a basic outback caravan park. We had a large grassed site towards the back of the park. The ammenities are en-suite style and very clean. They have free washing machines which is great. It is an easy walk to all of the shops and pubs and a slightly longer walk to the Matilda centre.

We arrived just after they opened for the season and a few days before the cafe opened. The cafe will do
well with the bakery in town permanently closed. The other cafe in town was
closed too when we were there. So good luck guys. The facilities look like they have had a paint etc getting ready for the 2022 season. Just some feedback. The showers REALLY need a seat or stools. There is nowhere to put your dry clothes. The 1/2 hooks on the doors are too high to reach. Lower them please. Very nice welcome and no fuss about our stay, even though we left late.

We stayed at their brand new cabins for 2 nights in late August and they were sensational! They were only opened early this year, 2022, and had a great design. Great layout with really comfy beds, excellent shower with artesian water (the smell reminds me of my home town of Rotorua), plenty of power points exactly where you need them and only a 2 minute walk to town! What more could you want?!
Only thing to improve would be a small porch over the front door (it rained last night so we got the floor muddy) and maybe His and Hers bedside lamps, but only once you've paid off the renos. Well done, Pelican!

Fantastic- very clean amenities and great laundry- which is free- a blessing. Very friendly owners which is greatly appreciated. Grassed areas and a very convenient camp kitchen. Very reasonably priced and even though heavy vehicle bypass is behind, we didn’t hear a lot of road noise. Highly recommend

We stayed in a cabin for two nights. Very small and very cold. The cabin was clean but no bed lamps, no extra pillows, a useless heater and very limited cutlery. The park has two washing machines, free, no dryer. The people at reception were friendly. Overpriced for accommodation.

Nice grassy tent sites although we did share our awesome shady tree with a swooping magpie, he wasn't too aggressive though so it was ok and just added a bit of excitement!
Site is a bit pricey at $30 but there aren't many options in town so fair enough. Bathrooms were adequate. Water stinky but it is Winton so what can you do. Camp kitchen was pretty sad. I chose not to use it. Really there is just a bbq here and small fridge and a kitchen sink that looked like it's seen better days. I didn't see anyone else use the camp kitchen while we were there.
Overall I would stay here again but only because of a lack of other better options.

This place was nice and simple. It was impossible to make a booking by phone or online beforehand but they had space for us and the owners were very nice. The tent site was grassy and easy to peg and the facilities were clean. It's also really close to town. There didn't seem to be a camp kitchen but that was ok because we were eating out in town.

We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2020. It was a lovely caravan park with grassy parks for caravans and really solid toilet and shower facilities. Having the grassy areas was a big bonus after travelling around the dusty surrounds. Free washing machines and lovely, friendly owners who checked us in. All a stones throw walk from town. Highly recommend this caravan park in Winton.

Loved the cabins, super clean and just a delight to have a comfortable bed. The cabins were so nice I would like to have one for myself. Easy to find, laundry available.Super nice staff. A short walk to town. In the evening great photons of the sunset.
