When booking I did not expect too much as is advertised as a 3 star more like a 2 star. I did not think actual double beds existed anymore! Tiny double bed, the room was big enough and had a big rattler(Aircon) in the window. This did cool the room down after the 40 degrees outside after some time. Rooms not good if you have mobility issues as there are 3 steps to get into the room and you need to step into the shower recess as well. There was a sign to alert you of the sulphur smell! Staining in the shower etc. Easy walk to main street. There was other accommodation at the facility but they were not in use due to issues?
The beds need to be upgraded to make it passable and the aircon put on for guests prior to arrival for the room to cool down as it does take some time.

I can't really recommend this place which is a real pity as the owners/managers are very nice people.
When we first drove past I thought it can't be that place, but it was. It looks and is a quite old place. I'm sure the owners know what they have and maybe that's why they don't have many photos of the place. I would have passed it by if I'd seen a photo of the building. Its an oldish fibro type building. This results in adequate room size but not so good with sound insulation. Which isn't a problem unless you've got kids on one side and a guy who snores really badly most of the night on the other side.
It's adequately clean unless you are concerned about the mould on the bathroom ceiling and cobwebs in the corners not to mention the lack of cleaning crevasses in the windows and the need for a good paint.
The wifi is adequate provided you're the only people connecting. The router is inadequate to cope with more than a few guests connecting concurrently and so you end up with inadequate, dodgy, intermittent connection that isn't all that fast when you can connect.
The bed is adequate unless you need something with support that won't leave you waking up with a sore side.
At $125 a night it's way overpriced, ok comparitive value for the town but poor compared to the Longreach accommodation we'd just come from.
It is VERY handy to the main street. We walked to dinner each night.
Unfortunately, I can't recommend it and if in Winton again I'd try somewhere else.

Our hearts sank when we drove in to the Reception driveway. We were confronted with what looked like single rooms with steps outside each and aimed fairly and squarely at the FIFOs working the nearby mines. But to our surprise, and relief, our room was at the rear part of the Motel, away from these, and were by far the newer and more spacious, with a wide verandah looking out over the gravel car park and an overgrown neighboring backyard on one side and the town's sparkling swimming pool on the other. The room was adequate, but only just, and space was really at a premium. We had a double and a single bed and negotiating around them was tricky. However, we did it, and enjoyed good sleep for each night we were there. The spare blankets certainly came in handy those nights! The motel is on the Barcaldine side of town, but a block away from the three very lively hotels in Winton. Other, newer, motels are on the Cloncurry side.

Because of Covid, some family and myself traveled out west for two weeks. Very enjoyable except for Winton. My sister an I thought we'd spend some money at the hairdresser only to be told she would only do locals. We were disappointed and went to do some washing at the motel who advertised customer washing facilities. When we got there the owner said, "You'll have to wait until I'm finished and that will be about lunch time". Rude. We feel that the residents of Winton live off the fact that people want to see Dinosaurs, however, we as a family wouldn't recommend going there. Extremely disappointed.

Hi Louise, sorry you had a bad experience, not sure what's going on with the Hairdresser? but you could have used the washing machine and dryers anytime you wanted, must have been a miscommunication and I apologize for that.

We found this motel to be a big older than I expected. The rooms that I could see were maybe two or three steps off the ground. I noticed that this seemed to apply to most of the motels in Winton. The room was very clean and inviting. The beds were comfortable and the shower very hot. It had two street entrances which is good for people towing a van etc. We could easily walk from there to the main street.

When looking at the website of this motel in Winton the rooms look very good. Imagine my surprise when I opened the door to number 11 and found this ! It was badly in need of TLC. No wardrobe just two coat hangers as you can see.The shower was not very spicy so I refrained from using it. There was a kettle, toaster and microwave but not sure of the safety so did not use them. The bed was comfortable and appeared clean ! My complaint is the misleading blurb on their website. Be aware of room 11 it’s not a bit like their photos. I would have walked away but accomodation is scarce at the moment. It cost me $125 for the dubious pleasure of staying in this appalling room.

Stayed 2 nights in September. Very friendly manager/owner and we were pleased to be upgraded at no charge to a larger room (unit 14). As widely travelled people we are used to sometimes putting up with rooms that need refurbishment but this not only needed a total make-over but was the dirtiest room we've ever experienced - cobwebs all over the windows (couldn't bear to have the curtains open to have to look at them), shocking mould in the bathroom, roaches in the loo and what looked like blood stains on the blanket. We have never complained before but sorry guys - you will not be getting our business again. We were genuinely glad to leave.

This place is very old and needs a lot of renovation. There is a warning that the hot water can take a while but it felt like 10 minutes before it started to get hot. The Wi Fi dropped out a lot. I would not suggest staying here.

Not sure how many rooms they have renovated but it certainly wasn't the room we were given.
Barely room to move with ancient mattresses on the beds. Wiifii not working.
Positive - linen clean
If they had asked for $100 no problem but ripping people off in tourist season for $140!!!
Would advise any potential buyers to not buy sight unseen

We recently stayed one night here in a queen room while travelling through. We were a later check-in, however that was not a problem. Jay was very friendly and accommodating, our room was spotless and perfectly adequate for our needs. Short walking distance to the local pubs for dinner and breakfast. We would definitely stay here again.
