Detailed Reviews
We stayed at this motel on 9 October 2021. This is a relatively new motel with the look of a good modern motel in the rooms. There is one only upholstered chair in the room with "very stained" upholstery. If I was managing this motel, I'd swap it out for a wooden chair or a leather chair as the existing chair brings down the tone of the room. In fact, in these days of COVID you feel reluctant to touch it or sit on it. Very modern bathroom. However, like most motels these days, the shower floor was extremely slippery when wet. I'm astounded there aren't lots of falls when having showers in motels, but nobody seems to be reporting them! This was one of the most modern looking rooms we had in the various motels we overnighted in Western Queensland. Room was very quiet overnight and this was a bonus as the attached service station is open 24 hours a day. We chose to eat dinner in the bistro at the Mud Hut Hotel just down the road in Goldring Street. Friendly service and good food, and well worth making the trip down the street for dinner.

Rooms are well appointed and sound proof could not hear the vehicles at the service station or driving passed.
Rooms need better cleaning with alcohol tin found under bed and dust under bed. Damage to bedside table. Doors need better locking system and latches.
Parking bays need to be numbered so you can park vehicle directly outside room. Watch out for an early knock on door or cleaners coming in and waking you up. Seriously wait until person’s check out.
Breakfast burger was awesome and coffee awesome.

Road trip from Alice Springs to Cairns. Had stopped at the roadhouse (Caltex service station) some 6 months before so called in again. Best cheeseburger & chips, all home made fresh and tasty. Good service and made for a pleasant stop on the trip. Not much in Richmond but if you want a quick snack on the way through try the Midway Service Station, east end of town opposite the lake.

We were booked somewhere else in town and they canceled our room due to a plumbing problem. We called the Midway, they couldn’t have been more helpful and our room was lovely. It smelled clean and fresh, was new and the shower was amazing. Also had dinner in the roadhouse which was great, extremely busy but quick service and good food. This is the newest place in town and I wouldn’t look any further. Lake view out the front and despite it being the truck stop there was no noise disturbance during the night.

Absolutely clean modern units. Queen beds only. Really great restaurant and the evening meal was 10/10. Freshly cooked veg.Owner/ Manager was so helpful.Thank you Suri. Highly recommend. If you are travelling from the coast en route to Cloncurry or west, this is an ideal, place to stay. There is a lake opposite with a lovely walk around.

This place by all accounts was fine. Basic amenities and bed which is to be expected as it's a roadhouse. I had no issue with anything except....
Putting my son to bed pulled the sheets to find weevils, silverfish, dead spiders and cockroaches, let's just say we didn't pay for our stay. Don't recommend!!!!

The guy who runs it was rude, drunk and used bad language. The lady who was working there with him (his girfriend/wife) was just as bad. The food was great and that is the only positive part of my experience. I would never go there again.

We stopped in at the restaurant (in the Shell station) for some breakfast on the road, not expecting much. Our experience was unbelievably good. I had the Bacon and Eggs and my partner had a BLT. We were both super happy with our meals. The quality and quantity were both top notch. Service was acceptable (friendly and fast) and the food was outstanding. This totally hit the spot in an area of the country somewhat lacking in choice.

The room was dirty, no curtain on the back window so anyone could walk past and look in, fridge was full of mould, no hot water, spider webs everywhere, had to stand on the bed to turn air con on, carpet not vacuumed or clean, mould on ceiling in bathroom, staff sitting outside rooms smoking causing air con to suck cigarette smoke into the room.... wouldn't recommend staying there....

This is the worst motel we have ever stayed in. Has been badly built, spare pillow was soiled, towels fraying with holes. Very small room, could lay in bed and open fridge. One bedside table only. Thin walls, could hear neighbours and traffic from 24 hour service station. Supposed to new but door scuffed and scratched, painters tape still on back of door, and a big hole in the curtain. Dusty cobwebs around the aircon unit.
