Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We travelled in North Queensland and visited lots of places. While they were short staffed and busy, they made us feel very welcome. Drinks were super cold, room was clean with newly fitted bathrooms. Staff was friendly and helpfull. Beautiful timber building apparently build from the family who still owns it today.
Recommend it for a weekend away !

Went for lunch - a bit "rustic" but a very friendly atmosphere. Food was typical pub fare, certainly better than on offer from Atherton. Worth calling in if you are in the Ravenshoe area, but not worth a special trip from Cairns.

We love old pubs but this beauty has so much history. Wendy, who bought the pub back into the family about 8 years ago, is the great-grandaughter of John Earnest & Silvinia Margaret Edwards, who were the original builders and owners of the pub. The meals were plentiful and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. The pub itself was gorgeous and full of beautiful antique furniture. Highly recommended.

It was suggested that because there were 4 of us that we stayed at Wendy's House next door to the Ravenshoe Hotel and with a connection to this hotel. (Ring the hotel for a reservation.. It was up to the usual weird type accommodation of outback Queensland. The "second bathroom" consisted of a rather dubious shower and a blocked toilet in the laundry. My husband managed to unblock this. The other queen bed was against the front door which is probably why we couldn't get up on the veranda from outside (no steps). Our bed rolled away merrily on its wheels whenever you lent on it, including sitting up in bed. A set of flat furniture cups would stop this. But with all the oddities the place was clean and with big rooms, right next door to the pub which was great for their wonderful meals.

We were looking forward to come to this place. For some reason we had seen a couple of photos and were really looking forward to stay overnight there.
This hotel is advertised on Airbnb and we thought we would go straight to book so they save the Airbnb fee.
Well that wasn't a good idea apparently as they announced a price $10 more than what we could book on airbnb, we were then told to book on airbnb...We were here! So then they conceded to honor the price that was advertised.
The hotel is a old fashion hotel very typical and has a very large deck on the first floor all around the hotel which looked pretty cool.
It's only $55/night but you basically pay for what you get, the rooms are really basic and fairly small, although the nice thing is that they all open to the deck.
The bathrooms are shared, I tried 3 showers until I find one that had hot water and actually had some pressure. It wasn't exactly clean in the bathroom nor on the deck.
They offer complimentary basic continental breakfast, but again here we had to help ourselves in finding the bread for the toast, then finding dishes. There were dirty dishes in a bucket that had been seating there since the day before which isn't really enjoyable.
Conclusion: The lodging isn't something we would really recommend, if it's just for one night, it's fairly cheap, have a sleep and move on.

The restaurant however was quite nice, it's an old fashion set up next to a massive fireplace. We had oysters, beef and reef, lamb cutlet and a sticky date pudding which was pretty delicious. We then spent a little while around the fireplace chatting with some locals. That was a really convivial moment. It seems it's better to book as the dining because quite busy. It's called Silviana and is a tribute to the original owner of the place.

Overall the dining experience was good but we wouldn't stay again there overnight unless we had to for the budget price.

We have lunched here on two occasions and have not been disappointed. The chicken parmigiana was delicious, moist and well presented with a small serve of chips and a salad in a bowl complete with tangy dressing. The crumbed Spanish Mackerel was my favourite, a good size fillet, crumbed lightly, the fish moist and delicious. The atmosphere is typical of a friendly country pub with old style furniture. The beer garden would be great to dine in if there were a little more shade and the swearing from the clientele at the pool table not so obvious. There is the opportunity to dine upstairs on the balcony for a view of the surrounding hills and main street. I would return here again for the crumbed Mackerel.

Stayed overnight on our way to the Cape. Great character in the old pub and the food in the restaurant was fantastic and plentiful. Rooms were pretty basic and had a shared toilet and showers but this is part of the experience.

This was a very pleasant surprise. The food was very reasonably priced and ingredients including the vegies FRESH. There is no way you would leave here hungry. The dining room was beautiful with a roaring log fire in the corner. The decor was just perfect and reminded us of times gone by.This is a little treasure that if you are in the area you should not overlook.

We had a lovely, newly renovated room. We were wary about sharing a bathroom, but they had several toilets and showers, so no problems. Couldn't believe it included continental breakfast, on the balcony. We stayed on a Sunday, so enjoyed the buffet dinner, and sitting in front of the open fire afterwards. Very friendly owner, proud to be related to the original owners who built the hotel in 1927.

Great staff. Lovely old pub. Highest in Queensland. (Altitude). Warm fire on a winters night. Tip. Tell the staff the food you like and how hungry you are. Let them give you some options. Diverse menu - caters for all. Workers to diners. Recommended for a base to explore the southern Atherton Tablelands.

This is TripAdvisor, not the hotel's website, so your best bet is to ring the hotel on (07) 4097 6136 and ask! Or try contacting them through their Facebook page which is easy enough to find through a Google search, as TA isn't letting me post the link here. I imagine their pricing is a bit dynamic and a bit negotiable, like anywhere similar.
