Perfect resort style tropical accommodation immaculately designed and maintained. Great salt water pool with a mini waterfall and some shade. Also, cassowaries visiting in the morning are a highlight. We were lucky both mornings to see a mother with two chicks. Booked for one night but we decided to stay one more day just to relax and enjoy the place...

Hi Simon - thanks for your review. Cassowary sightings are a wonderful experience especially when the chicks are very young (and very inquisitive). Since you left the gardens have had a good few centimetres of welcome rain. A lot of people intend to stay in Mission Beach for just one night, but end up staying an extra night or two....

My wife wanted a FNQ quiet weekend and we were nicely surprised to find this peaceful and secluded location in Mission Beach. Then it just got better... The hosts of Mick & Sue were fantastic, nothing was ever too much trouble and they keep the place looking immaculate. We would certainly be encouraging other to have the get-away experience. Breakfast...

Hi Jeff (and Makoto) - many thanks for your review. Sue's home made breads, jams, marmalades and peanut butter are becoming legendary in the Mission Beach area :-) Our pineapples are now ready, the dragonfruit is now in season and producing lots of fruit, and our mango tree is fruiting for the first time (yippee). And we're also having some...

We had a one night stopover on our way from Airlie Beach to Port Douglas and we were lucky to find Licuala Lodge and the great hosts in Mick and Sue. Arriving mid-afternoon we were greeted by Mick who told us about the local area and restaurants, and encouraged us to put pins in our hometowns on his world maps....

Hi Gabsofkiv - Mission Beach is a great place to stop on the trip from Airlie Beach to Port Douglas/Daintree. Very laidback and close to nature. Excellent place to see a cassowary up close, and of course a great place for breakfast :-) Our pool is very warm at this time year, even in the evening. Hope you enjoyed your...

We spent one night here on our way to Townsville - good room, friendly staff and a comfy bed. One of the best breakfasts we've had as well. In the morning we saw the local (friendly?) cassowary walking by the garage and got some good photos.

Hi Ann - thanks for the review. And the good news is that our male cassowary has returned after being missing for a couple of months with a new chick. Just one, but it's another cassowary which is always good news. Glad you liked the bed and breakfast (pun intended ho ho) Love to all in sunny Manchester Mick and...

Hi Andy - thanks for your kind words. Our female cassowary is putting in daily appearances at the moment, and the male cassowary is sitting on eggs so we expect to see him with a chick or two around Christmas time. Fantastic b&b on the outskirts of Mission Beach (1 & 3/4 hour drive from Cairns Airport). Idyllic spot, rooms are in stilts which look over the vast gardens. Ideal for spotting the resident Cassawary! Sue & Mick are excellent hosts and have thought of everything down to supplying earplugs to shut out the nocturnal squawks and screeches of the nearby...

Hi Carol - thanks for the review. Our resident cassowary is back to making her daily visits (sometimes twice daily). The earplugs do come in handy at times. Lots of guests are enchanted (?) by the night sounds, and a good debate can take place at the breakfast table deciding the origin of the noise. And a good tip to...

Very good place to stay, owners are very kind and helpfull. Breakfast is fantastic, every day fresh fruit with yoghurt and honey, and your eggs any way you like them, super. See the Cassowary when you stay, nice pool, walk around the garden. The rooms a little bit noisy sometimes, very good bed.
