Adjusting to the climate is one thing when visiting far North Queensland, indulging in local offerings is the other. Castaways staff are welcoming and accommodating, this little hidden paradise is everything it says it is. Open grasses lawns, stinger nets in the water, bike trail rides along the foreshore, double sided pool overlooking the ocean and lawn, it’s the perfect place to enjoy breakfast lunch and dinner. Free WiFi is provided to dining guests, the menu is generous, I chose the poke bowl and found it refreshing, filled with flavor and uplifting It’s so nice to have a meal that leaves you feeling bright. The pool is gorgeous and staff serve you by the pool from a large choice of drinks. I personally tried the mock tails and found them refreshing but perhaps a little too sweet for my taste. Overall a beautiful experience, I’d go back anytime and I’d recommend this location to anyone who wants to truly enjoy resort style stay or the perfect office for the day
This hotel has a location to die for. Staying in Cairns for 6 weeks we decided to drive down the coast for a couple of days and on recommendation, stayed at the Castaway Resort. This hotel has an ideal position and the views from our 2nd floor room were just palm trees and the azure Coral Sea. The hotel and it's facilities are great and the buffet breakfast most more than adequate and our room was air conditioned. A must in the tropics. The pool was great and my suggestion is maybe the room could do with a coat of paint. That aside I would definitely stay if I am up that way again
Beautiful hotel right on the beach, which is so secluded and like paradise (nicer than any other beaches we visited in Aus!). Lovely pool which was quiet at this time of year. Restaurant serving delicious food and bar serving nice cocktails looking over the ocean. A few bars and restaurants a 10 minute walk along the beach front, not super busy and not too touristy but just what we wanted. Come here for relaxation, peace and tranquility! Only slight issue was the air conditioning unit was located far from the beds and didn’t seem to reach them so we were quite hot at night! No other complaints, lovely hotel with really friendly helpful staff. Also got a massage at Drift which was idyllic!! Would highly recommend
We were driving down the coast from Cairns to Brisbane and found that his hotel was a good location to break up the trip. Not much to do accept walk the beach (waterfront view) swim in the pool and enjoy the food in the restaurant.
Great room with a stunning view of the beach. Room and bathroom were really nice. You can walk on to the beach right from the hotel and just minutes walk to the restaurants (which were not all open on expected times/days, bit out of season maybe?) Mission beach felt a bit quiet and their weren't a lot of people. Strange because the trip to the great barrier reef was more beautiful than the one we did in Cairns so we didn't regret coming here.
Great help from the reception with putting the photos of the hire underwatercamera, that we were giving on a USB stick on to our SD card so we could watch them immediately.
Plenty of choice with the continental breakfast so nothing to complain about.
Mission beach is probably more fun in peak season but a stay at castaways is recommended.
