Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Such a lovely spot, but the rooms are just so tired and old. Fabulous that they all have the balcony overlooking the amazing view, great spot to sit for a drink and to enjoy the breeze. The whole rooms need an overhaul. They are roadside 3 star motel standard so when you stay, know that you’re staying for the location, pool and not the room. Pools were absolutely freezing in October, not heated for colored months but a beautiful view. Restaurant food was fine, had a lovely curry and the worlds best Bloody Mary. Staff were welcoming, helpful and kind

The location is stunning, the views and access to the beach, you couldn’t ask for better. The staff on reception were helpful and most staff were great. Food was lovely in restaurant and reasonably priced. Unfortunately the rooms and premises are tired but we are told that they have plans to start updating. The noise in the corridors Carrie’s and guests speaking loudly while drunk woke us up several times. There was a wedding on and the actual wedding was not a problem but the noisy guests returning to their rooms were. The other big issue was at 5pm we went to have a shower and there was no hot water, apparently they were aware as having some work done but would have been nice to have a note popped under door so could plan accordingly. Generally a bit messy about the place too, it is meant to be a luxury resort, unfortunately it is not.

We had an overnight stay at Castaway’s to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The pro’s- Friendly staff. Heather in the restaurant is lovely. It was actually the friendliness of the staff who gave us the idea of staying here when we popped in for lunch a couple of weeks prior. Great location- you’re right on the beach and a quick stroll into town. The cons- The rooms are shoddy. Definitely tired and require a much needed makeover. Walls are marked and the mirror in the main bedroom needs replacing. As does the bamboo looking mirror base. The room could’ve also used a decent clean around the curtain rails. The spa in our room (208) didn’t work, and while we were told at checkout we could’ve called reception to have it looked at, I really wasn’t in the mood at 10pm to do so. No view to speak of as we were right over the restaurant which also was quite noisy until closing time. The pricing is up there, and we certainly expected better. Would we come back? Probably not unless the rooms get a major overhaul and I’d definitely be asking for a room with a decent view and not sat above the restaurant.

Much music in the night, because an weddingday. In the evening also much music. Bad resort for us. The breakfast was open at 7 and we've the drinks at 7:30. The madame of the hotel told us: sorry for that, no more.

A lovely place to stay. So nice being right on the beachfront and had the weather been better we would have loved to go in the pool. The staff were helpful and friendly too letting us check in early. Plenty of easy parking close to our room which was convenient.

Run down needs new furniture in rooms ours was stained and No springs left in couch. Decking has rotted boards, roof on deck falling off, roof in room rusted patches, bathroom needs cleaning properly and rust removal, water goes hot and cold when showering. Before you stay here look at other places. When we checked out more people complaining about the state of the rooms

When researching places to stay, we look at website photos, as well as reviews. We chose to stay here, as it was close to the beach. We travel a lot, and pride ourselves on finding best places to stay. How disappointing this was! This tired resort, needs a huge overhaul. Everything about it was not up to scratch. Our family unit, was actually one bedroom, with another bed in the lounge/kitchen area. The kitchenette, had no sink or rubbish bin, so off to the bathroom to fill kettle or dispose of rubbish There was paint chipping off walls, rusted door handles, scratched furniture, mirror was corroded, the hot water tap loudly vibrated when turned on, lights in bedroom were poorly fitted, mould above window in bathroom, ceiling fan was corroded too. I could add lots more…….. We booked for three nights, but ended up staying two, and forfeited a nights accommodation. Similar priced accommodation in Trinity Beach and Airlie Beach gave us a much higher standard, as well as defined kitchen, dining and two bedrooms. The meals in the restaurant were quite good, although overpriced. ( and please note…..“burn noisette” should actually read, “ beurre noisette”!) Sorry, you have lost us as customers and will not recommend to family or friends

Wish I had read the reviews before booking. I have stayed here a few years ago and it was wonderful. This time OMG nothing like it, we booked through Booking.com, the site says balcony. My definition of a balcony is not a strip of grass on the ground floor. The floor in the bathroom was so slippery we asked the cleaner for a rubber mat which she provided. The mirror looked like graffiti all over. I read in another review way back months ago same thing. Arrived at 7.00pm no way could we eat there but would do room service. Better places to stay here I am sure.

Beautiful place to stay, beds extremely comfortable, stunning views! Bar staff superb! My only negative is as a paying smoking guest, there needs to be a seat at the smoking zone. Literally nowhere to sit and out front of reception area is an awful place to stand.

I have to confess that our first impressions of this Hotel were not the best but it gradually grew on us. The area is still suffering from the impact of the 2017 cyclone followed by covid hence it is perhaps understandable that our room looked a bit run down and our room especially the balcony required a refurbishment. However, the public areas are smart the sea-view superb, staff excellent and restaurant superb (steak to die for). So overall we left with a very positive experience. So glad we tried the restaurant as this was the best food we had in Mission Beach and nice lunchtime specials too. Not for someone who requires top 4* accommodation but we left pretty satisfied.
