I have stayed here before and have found it quite good. Free WIFI and good position and quiet. It has a good work bench and you can watch TV from it while working! There is a Fish and Chip Cafe opposite the Motel which is very good as well. Comfortable bed with good linen.

We stayed for one night in the "hollywood" room. It was pretty cool, guitar on the wall, pictures of elvis, marilyn monroe etc on the walls. Definitly not like anywhere i've stayed before!

This may not be the most luxurious place to stay but its clean, comfortable and the staff are very friendly. When you get to the hotel you are actually shown to your room and proper milk is put in the fridge. You dont get service like that much anymore.

We arrived early and were allowed into our room straight away which was appreciated.

The pool is good. There is a fridge and bbq in the pool area as well.
Very close to the beach, just a quick walk about 1 block.

The only thing i would suggest is more towel racks or hooks in the bathroom. After coming back from the beach we couldnt find anywhere to hang beach towels or swimmers because our bath towels were already drying on the towel rack provided. I did notice that towels are provided for the pool, we didnt realise tho until after we used our own.

Overall the room had everything we needed and we had a good stay. We paid $135 for the night which i would say is on the high end of reasonable.
Would stay again.

Thanks to Donna and Arthur for providing such a lovely motel..they take pride in making your stay enjoyable. They are both friendly and informative.
It is about the only place on the Sunshine Coast that will allow you a 1 night stay or in our case just 2 nights , NYE and Jan 1st..
The room was huge (1 queen and 1 single bed) and has a fridge , tea & coffee and even cutlery & crockery , as Donna explained, if you want to bring back a takeaway. The Surf club and beach is a short walk away and we spent NYE at The BoatShed Restaurant at Cotton Tree, a 10 minute walk from the motel. We did use the pool a couple of times.
Definitely would stay again.

This place that we booked was absolutely disgusting, I have never stayed in such a [--]house room before and paying $150 a night. I am thinking of never using your site again {wotif}. If I was able to back out of it I would have. It was not even safe, there was only 1 door to the room {which is usually normal} but there were no windows so if there was a fire you would be trapped without a window to even try to climb out. There was no heating except for a little blow heater in the cupboard, that didnt even have safety cutout switches and this is meant to be a family room which should be kid friendly. The carpet was well worn, skanky looking and left a musty smell to the room. AND how in the hell can you let a Motel of this quality advertise that they are 4.5 star rating even if it is their word, they would be lucky if you gave it a 2 star rating. And to top it off where everyone smokes outside of their rooms it drifts down the little corridor and fills the room with cigarette smoke. I wont even give it a score out of 10

Response from MaroochyMbm, Manager at Cotton Tree Beach Motel
Responded 29 Aug 2012
Listening to all complaints and compliments, we took over the management of the motel in February endeavour to correct any faults that have been brought to our attention, we have a designated area away from the rooms for all smokers now, we have replaced all the heaters in all the rooms and as far as windows go we cannot change that fact due to the way the motel was built. Everybody is entitled to their opnion, please feel free to read the others as well

Pros:
-cheap compared to other hotels in the area (we paid $130/night for a double room I believe)
-can book just one night (no minimum stay requirement like most other places over the holidays)
-close to the beach
-clean
-friendly staff
-have a porta-cot for babies that you can book for free (if no one else is already using it)

Cons:
-I found the decor extremely strange... kind of like staying in your grandma's basement that hasn't been updated for 20-30 years. For example, we had a sun hat dangling on a string from the ceiling in our room, amongst many other such decorations
-more on the above: each room has its own theme; our was Australian themed, and some of the others (from looking in the windows of empty rooms) were surfing, Elvis, Paris, Buddhist/Chinese. Quite random.
-although the rooms and patios are non-smoking, the smoking area outside of reception was close enough to our room that the cigarette smoke blew into our room whenever our chain-smoking neighbors were puffing away outside... really gross, and a shame that we couldn't keep our door open (I believe we were in room #5)
-the mattress was old and uncomfortable to sleep on
-the vanilla-scented air-freshener was a bit much... have never stayed in a hotel room before that had an air freshener attached to the wall inside like this
-we found parking spot #5 quite tricky to get in and out of since it was nestled in the corner (especially when other cars were parked near it). The other spots looked okay though.

Overall, it was an okay motel to spend a night, but if I were coming for a week's holiday, I'd try for something nicer. Unless you're planning to spend all your time at the beach and this is totally just a place to crash... then it might be okay. Not the best for babies though, as we only had one room, so when our baby went to bed, we had to too, as the light would have kept him awake. Little details you don't think about until you're in that situation.

The managers were pleasant enough, our room was very clean and the location is great. However, it is very dated and in need of a bit of repair. There were no windows in our room, not even in the bathroom!. So once we shut and locked the door for the night we had no airflow. Because there were no windows we had to have the aircon on. The aircon was so loud we couldn't hear the TV unless we had the TV up very loud. So all in all, I doubt I would return and I doubt I would recommend the motel. Did I mention no windows?

We only stayed for two nights. Good location, very close to the beach. Car parking is not allocated, so can be a struggle if you have been out for the evening.
Rooms are decorated in themes. Good range of tea and coffee in room and Donna the host was welcoming.
Bathroom not quite as clean as it could of been, shower dripped more or less constantly and you had to hold the toilet button down for a long time for it to flush. Our main issue was the big dip in the bed, mattress really needs to be replaced quite urgently as it is not at all comfortable.
Older style air conditioning unit, but it does the job.
Not sure if I would stay again, think there might be better options out there in the same price bracket. Overall it was comfortable enough but maybe not for more than a night or two.

In today's fast paced corporate world (and let's not forget the corporate prices) it was a real pleasure to stay at the Maroochydore Beach Motel. For my wife and I, customer service is what determines a good stay to an excellent stay. We have stayed in many a motel and hotel over our considerable years of travelling and Donna and Arthur's open, bend over backwards to help you friendliness are second to none. Certainly glad we found you. We'll be back. If you want corporate, go corporate. For some of us that aspect has lost it's appeal. Bland comes to mind. Cleanliness, proximity to attractions etc is excellent.

Just wanting a one night stay in maroochydore and not wanting to pay too much, this motel stood out from internet searches. With good reason too: the owners are very friendly,hands-on and happy to please. The room was fresh and quirky, clean and had all the basic things that one could expect.Dont expect anything more though than a kettle.A microwave or electric pan would have been a welcome addition.Location is great though, with the surf club being within walking distance as well as some other take away options. Will stay here again.
