Stayed for 2 nights. Staff were very accommodating to a change in our bedding requirements. Rooms were simple but very tidy and filled our requirements, great parking and some outdoor seating areas to gather if you have multiple rooms. Would stay again.

While the room, location and amenities were satisfactory, my experience with management on check out was unpleasant and marred our stay. On 29 April 2022, I booked a room for my wife and myself on the motel's website for 2 nights from 31 July to 2 August for $150 per night, giving my credit card details, and received email confirmation of the rate. On the morning of our departure, I received an email from the motel under the name Carole Daly titled "Pre stay invoice", which charged me $160 per night, and with a breakfast for $19, totalled $339. When I returned the room key on check out, I told the lady at Reception that the emailed invoice was incorrect. It turned out that the amount had already been deducted from my credit card. The lady said there was no mistake, as room rates had gone up from 1 July, and the motel did not send out emails to customers who had booked earlier, as there would be too many emails to be sent out. However, on 28 July,Jackaroo Motel did send me an email reminding me of my booking for arrival on 31 July, without any reference to a revised room rate. I asked for a refund of $20 to bring the invoice in line with what I had agreed with the motel. The lady objected, saying that costs had increased, the motel down the road was now charging $170 per day, I was being unfair in not agreeing to $160 per day, the directors had set the rate, she had no control over it, I was the first person who had complained about the rate rise, and no other customer had objected. I said she should check with Consumer Affairs whether the motel was acting properly, and I insisted on the refund. She then said with obvious anger and irritation that she did not wish to argue with me over such a small amount as $20, and if I insisted, she would give me the credit on my credit card, which I then gave her. The experience soured my stay at the motel.

A typical roadside motel on the edge of town. We have stayed here several times before (not a lot of choice in Mareeba!), usually in a bigger room, but most rooms are an ok size. Pros - friendly staff, good parking, comfortable bed. Cons - traffic noise and the rooms are quite dark (opaque glass for privacy I guess).

Very comfortable, no fuss stay. The manager was most helpful and very friendly and welcoming. We had a trailer that was accommodated for parking without any issue. Our late check in was also no problem Stayed in the family room that was more than suitable for our brief stay.

It has the 80s feel but is clean and comfortable. Good for families. It is on the highway and yes you can hear the road noise. Not many choices in Mareeba. They seem to have NO VACANY a lot. I’d stay again

If you’ve never stayed in a motor - inn during the 80’s, then here’s your chance to experience it. Complete with a corded wall phone, food delivery hatch, frosted windows & weak water pressure! However, place is spotless. Probably cleaner than most 5 star hotels I’ve stayed in & the room we had was huge. The only issues were being able to hear your neighbours fart & listen to their conversations while smoking outside your front door. Overall, a convenient location for our purposes. Would stay again if needed.

The Jackaroo Motel is basic, but very clean, quiet and well looked after. The woman who checked us in was cheerful and helpful. There is a nice big refrigerator with cold water in each room. Love the louvered windows that let the breeze in. Bed is comfortable. Excellent coffee across the street at a trailer parked in Centary Park in the mornings. Went for a pleasant walk at dawn through the nearby neighborhoods. I might've given this place five stars, but wasn't there long enough to walk the grounds. Highly recommend to those who like getting off the beaten track.

Although the Jackaroo is the typical country style the owners have made a great effort with updating this motel. Everything was clean and comfortable. I loved the outside areas with tables on the back patio and under the trees. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It is a little way out of the main town area but an easy walk to the Coffee Works.

The room was clean and bed n pillow very comfortable, however we visited over Easter and the prices were so high that it was the most expensive motel I have ever stayed in. Also it is very close to highway and the highway noise is fairly constant. The walls are very thin and we were woken by those getting up early to go ballooning, then another car leaving and even people talking is easily heard
