John and Pam De Rooy are the best hosts and we enjoyed fresh fruit and great Gallo cheese along with lots of other local produce. Set right in the rainforest and on the South Johnston River it is a beautiful location and there is a slow combustion fireplace to keep you lovely and warm on cool winter nights. It is a spacious appartment with a well appointed kitchen and a great bathroom with a spar bath which has a view of the rainforest along with a seperate shower. It's a great place to just relax and enjoy the beautiful surrounds.
We spent 2 beautiful nights at Sharlynn by the River in this outstanding accommodation with excellent hosts John and Pam who invited us to join them for coffee and cake each morning during our stay. They are both excellent and professional photographers who also run photo Workshops from their property. John spent an hour or so proudly showing us their beautiful patch of heaven-a 5 minute drive from picture perfect Yungaburra in one direction and Malanda in the other. He is a font of knowledge and is delighted to explain all the trees and birds that frequent this area. We could not have asked for a better place to stay and even though it was February (weather wise the worst time of the year to be there-with rain and humidity) it did not deter us one second from enjoying Sharlynn. Over many years we have stayed at countless Bed and Breakfast places in Australia,Europe and America and this one is very hard to beat.A kitchen stocked with every possible appliance to say nothing of the very generous supplies of food for breakfasts and more. The very best of organic eggs, bacon, bread, jams and all you could possibly want to make the perfect first meal of the day. The fast flowing river is only a 2 minute walk down from the cottage with its own resident platypus and what better way to laze the day away on the cottages verandah listening to the sounds of the river and the birdlife or to have a barbecue (supplied) al fresco! You would be lucky to find anywhere as good as this to spend time in the lush surroundings of the Atherton Tableland. Its almost as green as Ireland! Nothing bad could we say-its top of the class.…
Perfect for a little romantic getaway. A real break from the hustle and bustle. A great point of difference is the local produce deal- we loved sampling! Great location because you can see the rest of the Tablelands.
Excellent stay with North Johnstone river only a few minutes walking to go for a dip. We even say playful platypus while chilling in the rapids. The cabin is 5 star , very clean, modern and private. So much food and fresh local fruit for breakfast was provided to our surprise. Pam and John are very friendly hosts. Highly recommend this place.
Our stay here was incredible, from all the beautiful little touches, fresh Roses, delicious local produce, Port, chocolates, great coffee, rose gum honey and more.To the sweet orchestral sounds of the rainforest, time stands still here and you will want to stay longer.Thankyou Pam and John for everything that you do
