We had a three night stay here in an unpowered site. The staff were very friendly and made the check in process really easy. The bathroom facilities were clean and the showers were nice and hot. The gate access to the Malanda Falls was ideal and made for a refreshing late afternoon swim when we arrived. Malanda is a great location to use as a base for exploring the Atherton Tablelands. I would recommend staying here.

We camped as a group on the unpowered sites (6 of us). The price was $24 a night per tent & $10 to rent a fire pit for a fire. Another friend with kids stayed in an on-site cabin for $50 a night. While the price was quite expensive for camping, it was a beautiful caravan park with well-kept amenities, lots of forest & greenery (including a creek backing onto adjacent Malanda Falls) & and an animal nursery with a donkey & chickens. We were able to get a site towards the back which was private & secluded as it wasn’t busy the weekend we stayed. That meant we could chat & play music without disturbing anyone.

There are plenty of activities to do nearby. We drove out to Mt Hypipamee and walked to Dinner Falls & the Crater, visited Gallo Dairyland (where we bought cheese & I was attached by geese!), visited Lake Eacham for a swim, and had a fabulous lunch on Mother’s Day at Tarzali Lakes Platypus Park (Smokehouse Cafe) where we also spotted platypus & saw Josh Thomas.

There are also two coffee shops nearby for coffee lovers (Malanda Falls Cafe & Malanda Cafe). Of the two, I’d recommend Malanda Falls Cafe.

All in all Malanda Falls Caravan Park is a pleasant place to camp and a great base for exploring the Atherton Tablelands.

We camped for a weekend in August with friends. The hosts were very friendly and we checked in without a problem. There was a undercover camp kitchen with stovetop, microwave, kettle, fridge, sink and table and chairs. There was a gate that led to a beautiful swimming area with a waterfall, plus a rainforest walk. The toilet/shower block was kept very clean. There was even a small animal farm. It is pet friendly and close to town. We are planning another trip here to bring our Grandchildren - they'll love it.

We had 2 nights booked here but only stayed for one. Yes, it has 17 acres, but we were put right next to the highway and had constant truck noise waking us all night. We enquired at check in if there were any sites available that weren't backing on to the highway but were told it was full. It wasn't relaxing in any way and we would never stay here again. It was also pouring rain and we couldn't step off the concrete pad without sinking into mud and getting filthy. I know they can't control the weather, but we moved to a van park 20 minutes away that was not sloppy and muddy despite it having the same amount of rain. We stayed for one night, then when we couldn't stand the noise anymore we rang around and found new accommodation and packed up and left in 30 minutes. Our best decision about staying here was leaving early.

We enjoyed our stay here. Easy checkin. The sites are open and grassy. Able to have your own fire. Amenities are clean. Camp kitchen is very basic and old and could do with a makeover. The park road can get a bit muddy when it rains. It could do with some gravel or something to make it easier to walk to amenities without getting dirty. Close to the waterfall and swimming area. Good location to explore the Tablelands. A pleasant stay.

We spent two nights at this great park. Check-in at Reception was friendly and seamless with many details given on the site layout and facilities.
The park is impressive. It is a big area and backs onto the Malanda Rainforest where we were entertained by the whipbirds and other wildlife. You will have fun if a noisy green flying beetle gets into your Van!
It’s not often you will find a tranquil bush setting but this was one of them and sitting in a folding chair having a drink in the afternoon was a great way to relax.
This is one park we would return to.

This is a fantastic place. Wide open spaces powered and unpowered sites. Just stayed for 9 nights and loved it. Was offered a very good rate. Good location central to Tablelands. You can walk into Malanda. Only 19kms from Atherton. It has its own access to Malanda Falls right next to the park. V v quiet on a night considering lots of families staying at this time of year. Dog friendly. Loved it and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Our site was within walking and hearing distance of the Malanda Falls. It is also walking distance to the town with a variety of shopping and entertainment options. There is a lot of open space and there is an animal farm area for kids and others. The ablutions were a little small and lacked a bench within a shower cubicle. However the positives outweighed this negative.

This is a delightful stop to stay at in a well kept open van and camping park. It’s r ight next to the Malanda Falls and a 5 minute walk to a delightful town. The amenities are dates but very clean and tidy, and showers hot and easy to access. A delightful place to stay with many local attractions near by. Well worth the stay.

Relaxing spacious park. Great for big vans. Amenities a bit old but nice and clean. Small animal farm with cute pony alpaca goats and chooks. Short walk to Malanda Falls swimming hole. Walk into Malanda. Lovely will return.

What price is it for a powered site with 2 adults and 2 children 6 and 9 Thank you
Answer from Chris R
Cairns, Australia179 contributions20 helpful votes
Hi, cool, I was born in Ayr and my Brother still lives there. Ok, powered sites are $28 for 2 people and $10 for each extra person so that would make it $48 per night. Hope that helps, Chris. PS: that's the rates from their website so it may or may not be cheaper for kids. Have a good one and enjoy your stay, we did. Chris
