We went on a lovely trail down to the river , all clearly marked. We ate in the restaurant both nights although facilities in the lodge...

Even though it was wet season, the retreat was awe-inspiring. Beautiful birdsong, total privacy in comfortable treehouse, and Peta takes pride in showing you wildlife you might miss on your own. My husband, unfortunately was laid low with what turned out to be a middle ear infection and Peta so genously offered to drive me to see some of the...

We are fascinated of Peta and Jon's (owner/manager) successful lifetime project "Rose Gums". Great to get to know personalities with visions who live their dreams. As guests we relaxed and enjoyed the result of their imagination and hard work. Raw luxury and fine food (BYO) in the rainforest. Do not miss the parrot feeding at eight in the morning accompanied...

My partner and I spent 3 lovely nights here as part of our engagement celebrations and Peta & Jon (the owners) were so friendly and helpful. I'm gob-smacked at reviews that mention the presence of animals &insects....... you're in a rain forest for goodness sake. They could hermetically seal the accommodation and something would find a way in. Those people...

Dear Dave & Elise Thank you so much for your lovely review We are so pleased that you enjoyed the comforts of the treehouse and the abundance of nature and wildlife all around you. With over 40,000 insect species here in the rainforest, it is an ongoing task to keep them out of the treehouses, despite screening the windows. However,...

Our travel agent said he had saved the best till last - he was right! Our treehouse was beyond beautiful. On the side of a hill, we entered at ground level, but by the time we had walked through we were above the tree canopy. Lovely wooden property, remote from any others on the retreat. Entrance hall, separate bedroom, bathroom...

We stayed in a wonderful and spacious retreat cabin with balconies to all sides and panoramic views of the rain forest. We had spectacular rain forest walks, saw a platypus taking a swim, no people and an isolated paradise. I will always remember this as a very special place to have had the great fortune to stay. Magical, marvellous, memorable.

We were visiting Australia for a birdwatching adventure, and landed at Cairns. Rose Gums Wilderness Retreat was a wonderful first stop for us on our trip. We saw so many beautiful birds on their extensive property. We took the morning birding walk with Jon and thoroughly enjoyed us. He showed us the dancing post of Victoria's Riflebird (a bird of...

We stayed in "Kingfisher" tree house. Each house is completely on its own and private. A lot of thought has gone into the design and equipment. The sense of being alone in the forest, in comfort, is wonderful, with all the bird noises. We saw fireflies and glow worms from the terrace. Watching the sun rising over the hills and...
