We booked a comfort cabin for our stay at Saltbush. Would have liked to stay in the converted stables but they were already booked out on the dates we wanted. It's about 2k out of town across the road from Qantas Founders Museum and right next door to the Stockmans Hall of Fame. Our hosts Rob & Rebecca collected us from the railway station on arrival into Longreach and also dropped us back at the station for our return journey.. It's a pleasant walk into town or $13 dollars will get you a taxi into town. Also the Birdcage Hotel runs a courtesy bus for their customers. Our cabin was clean, comfortable and very warm. Rob & Rebecca were lovely welcoming hosts. I will definitely be recommending to family & friends
BOOK early - when we were then in May everywhere was booked out - we were a party of 10 took up 5 units (close to the main road) . They were well furnished and very comfy beds with good showers my most important things in a stay as your normally only there at night time when visiting Longreach. This is VERY handy for visiting both the Qantas Museum and the Stockmans Hall of Fame - - It is a bit out of central town. Nice pool area and the units out the back look good too.
This accommodation is a little way outside of town but an easy walk if you wanted to. It’s right across the road from the airport and QANTAS Founder’s Museum. We stayed in one of the cabins which were quiet and comfortable but could do with a deep clean. I was also surprised that there wasn’t any hand wash. We bought our own however providing this should be standard now.
We booked here for 3 nights following recommendations from friends, we were so impressed! We stayed in slab hut number 7, it couldn't have been more Australian but with all the modern conveniences. Bed was high and super comfortable, 2 leather tub chairs, a wooden table chained to the ceiling with more chairs, a small kitchenette with 2 hot plates, a microwave, jug, toaster, full size frig, all you could want. And jars full of tea bags, coffee and sugar sachets not the usual 2 teabags per person! The bathroom was so well designed, water pressure and temperature perfect. Two deck chairs on the verandah and corrugated iron window shutters. Wifi was free and strong. There are also 3 claw foot bathtubs for guests to enjoy outside on a communal deck so bring your bathers, kangaroos sit just feet away! There is a coin laundry, so handy when you're on holidays, and beer and wine is sold at reception. Staff were friendly and helped with sightseeing suggestions and restaurants. If we are ever back in Longreach we will stay here again and would even change our travel dates if needed!…
We booked a self contained for 4 adults and the bedding, air conditioner and seating all where good. However, the apartment we had was joined to the next unit and the wall are very thin and we could hear the people next door moving around at anytime of the night. A large gap in the plaster between the ceiling and walls allows light to be seen from the next door apartment. The sliding mechanism of the front door was very noisy on opening and closing. Reported a faulty power outlet in the bathroom. Finally a garden water timer mounted to the side of the unit switched on at 4am in the morning and was very noisy and woke all in the Villa. Advised staff of the issue and it seems it was not fixed so each night i had to turn the water off and back on again in the morning.
