Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The hosts at the Abajaz Motor Inn were wonderful to us helping us out when our original accomodation didn’t work out. The relief we felt to be able to have a clean comfortable room within easy walking distance to Longreach and the places we had booked to visit was such a pleasure. The room was air conditioned (40 plus heat) big enough for us to enjoy our stay. The water was hot. I could make a cuppa. The joys of home far from home I greatly appreciated. I would return to this motel again no problem.

Stayed at the Abajaz for 3 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay, Liane and Rodd could not have been more obliging in ALL/ANY HELP required. Was fortunate to obtain transport (which was complimentary to and from the airport which is about 10 minutes away by car).Room was clean and had a microwave with clean cutlery, dishes and glasses. Also a good size under bench fridge.Bathroom was clean and shower was hot and pressure was very good. Complimentary biscuits were on offer in the room with PLENTY of coffee, tea and small milk containers in the fridge. Our room had a large TV (room had a queen and a single bed) also air-conditioning. There was an iron and ironing board in the cupboard too.To me it's location, location, location and being only 10 minutes to town and 25 lovely walk to Qantas Founders Museum and 30 minutes leisurely walk to Stockmans Hall of fame.It certainly was perfect for us.THANK-YOU Liane for all your service and help. Will come back and stay again.Best Wishes Robert and Janine

It was our first time staying here, but we’ll definitely be back. It’s an older style motel but very comfortable, staff very friendly & owners are very obliging. Also if you want you can get a toaster & plates if you wish, rooms are clean & equipped with anything you might require. It’s also close to town, within walking distance & within walking distance to most attractions. Would highly recommend this motel.

This place has no onsite manager. We were there for 6 nights and the unit was not cleaned once. The bathroom has mould and mildew and the floor hasn’t been washed in ages by the look of it. Crockery and cutlery is washed by the previous visitors in the bathroom sink without the benefit of detergent. The rooms are not made up daily except for replenishing coffee and sugar. The courtyard is filled with leaves and not swept once. Online rate was $141 per night. They charged Flight Centre $206 per night and Flight Centre charged us $260 per night. A fleabag motel at an exorbitant rate. Both Abajaz and Flight Centre are shameful.

Read the reviews - and thought this would be good. WRONG. No room service for dinner - only offered continental brekky. The room was not upto the expectations the reviews indicated, and the $130/night charge was about $20 or $30 too much. On the flip side, this meant we organised our own dinner and brekky - so I have some more reviews to do.

Hi Greg, We're sorry to hear you weren't happy with your one night stay, we have never advertised 'room service' as we are a small family run motel but have in the past done dinner and breakfast to the rooms on request. Rodd and I work 7 days a week, 12 hours a day for over 300 days straight and were just finding doing meals a little much for us after 11 years of offering that service .... sorry that you were inconvenienced! Not to mention all the rules concerning Covid-19 that I’m sure you don’t fully understand making everything more time consuming. For the record we were the cheapest tariff on the day of your stay and as we are rated Number 1 of 5 motels by Trip-Advisor in Longreach, only this year winning the Travellers Choice Award rated in the Top 10% Motels World Wide, the price was exceptionally reasonable. We have an ongoing renovation commitment together with our Landlord and unfortunately unlike many other rooms that have been updated with split system air-conditioners and new bathrooms, the room in which you stayed was not one of them - it's still clean and has a comfortable bed, a hot shower with great pressure and all the little extras like biscuits, tea/coffee, microwave, hairdryer etc etc . That room is also in a corner so is darker than the others but that could also be a positive for sleeping. It's all in the attitude and expectations I think, we are in the Outback and we're not a swish resort ... we're just a small family run Motel offering clean, comfortable rooms with friendly service. If you need all the bells and whistles then I'd suggest staying on the coast.

Stayed here for 1 night, during QANTAS 100th birthday.
Very clean and comfortable room, ample space for 2 adults to not be climbing over the top of each other.
Rodd was the best host - came up to the airport and collected us at a moments notice. Whilst we did not realise the transportation situation at Longreach, we called and he graciously came to get us. Previous reviews have mentioned this, but in all fairness, we should have asked for this prior to arriving... We know for next time ;)
Pro tip for visiting Longreach - there is only ONE taxi. Suggest that you rent a car, it's very hot to be walking over 1km to anywhere...

Appreciate the hospitality guys, thanks very much!!

We booked with previous owner 7/2/2022 for $140 p/n for 4 days - had email and booking confirmation. Phoned to confirm booking 8/4/22 but new owners price $284 p/N for same period 28/4 to 2/5. I advised I had documented proof of booking and emails. Not interested. Rude, gruffy, obnoxious man at reception, advised new owners price of $284 per night, take it or leave it. As rodeo on in Longreach no other accommodation available, so I reluctantly had to accept $284 p/n. Upon check in the rude, gruffy obnoxious man at reception, not interested in seeing my hard copies of bookings and emails from previous owner, and advised the previous owner had not handed over any records of future bookings, emails or contact. Difficult to believe!! We are seeking $556 credit, price difference between quoted price of $140 by previous owner and $284 p/n by new owners.
Be aware this company also owes Albert Park Motor Inn, Jumback Motel, Outback adventure Motel and Abajaz.
Room not worth $284 per night, stained carpet, dirty cover on lounge chair, laundry stained carpet and dirty machines, pool area and pool unkept.
Don't stay.!!!!

Its in a great location . There is a footpath from the Qantas & Stockmans Museum into town and following this its only a 5-10 Minute walk into town. There is a Servo on either side of the motel if you needed to quickly grab anything. The managers were really friendly and were happy to help out.
Motel was fully booked each night so likely why we ended up with a family room. We were a couple and had a Double , Single and set of bunks in our room. This made the room really tight. No Couch or space like in the pictures. Did not look like the management pictures on here. There was a box aircon unit next to the door and it was really noisy when operating. Overall for somewhere to stay for a few night and being a small town it was OK

This motor inn is a fair walk into town but it’s an easy walk along a path, you do need to take a torch if you plan to walk at night as some of the path isn’t well lit.
It is billed as the friendliest in town, we didn’t find it like that but during this time it is a little more difficult, we found that some managed it while keeping a personal touch and others not so much.
The room was clean and the bed comfortable, if we left the window open to sleep as we like it was a bit noisy with the road trains and trains across the road.
Would we stay there again? We don’t think so, but that’s just a personal choice, there was nothing wrong with the accommodation, it was clean and fairly comfortable.

Somewhat lacking in maintenance & equipment. (e.g. crokery, cutlery, bedside tabe & even power points). Apparently waiting for new owners to begin proper care program - that previous apathetic owners couldn't manage. Bed was clean & comfortable as was unit self & seems to be cheapest in Longreach - SO FAR

Responded 20 Mar 2022
Mr, Although we are no longer the manager/owner the leasehold of the Abajaz ( and as such shouldn't be replying to this but as we have been over the past 13 years feel we need to respond) we find reviews of this nature so incredibly inaccurate and disingenuous given you have no idea of the history. Over the past 13 years (given our landlord too had his responsibilities ) we had brought the motel to a standard of the best in Longreach, for the reviewing public please look at all past reviews and our awards won. As we are not responsible for any matters concerning your stay of March , I can say prior to then we had cutlery and a built in bedside shelf (with tissues and a clock on) in the rooms. As for power points, goodness, are placed in many area's throughout the rooms, you perhaps missed one or simply were placed in an area you're not used to - there is one under the shelf between the beds in every room. Given you have never stayed previously, we find the comment "apathetic' very rude. Whilst we are now no longer in control of local pricing, we strived always to have the best tariff offering the personalised service previously. "Mr", please enjoy the rest of the trip, and try to remember, inaccurate comments can hurt a small business and owner/managers even after they are no longer involved. Best Regards Rodd and Liane (Previously of the Abajaz Motor Inn)

Answer from Abajaz
Hi Sarah, There are 3 motels within easy walking distance of pubs... we are one of them. January is very hot here in Longreach so you won't want to do too much walking although everywhere you go will be airconditioned. We hope you enjoy your time here, Rodd and Liane
Answer from Abajaz
Hi Travelbug, We have free WiFi for all guests - no charges ever. Just ask for a username and password and you're connected. Rodd and Liane
