We used a powered camper-van site. All amenities were very clean and easy accessible. Kuranda is a great location to spend your first night as it is close to Cairns and gives you enough time to get organised for the rest of your trip. Interesting hikes all within close proximity.

First of all Lyn is the friendliest, most welcoming person I've ever had at any accommodation and I made sure I told her so. Over the phone and in person.
I was very lucky for them to be having a quiet week and I scored a cabin last minute.
They had frozen meals at reception which suited me as I'd had a long day.
They do also do dinner but from memory it was closed on Sundays.
I had Number 8 cabin which overlooked the rainforest. Nice quiet spot. If I was there more than one night I would have used the facilities and had dinners on the deck and gone for the bush walk which I saw other people doing.
I'll be honest. The cabin itself it a little outdated. Old air con unit from the 80's, lino that has gauges in it, the old outdated kitchen and a shower elderly people like my mother cannot step into. A few things falling apart and the bathroom door wouldn't close. The bedroom door also wouldn't close as the bed was in the way. But the bed can be moved.
I was so tired and so thankful to get something last minute I actually didn't care about these things.
I slept well. I was comfortable. I loved the quietness (I didn't have any neighbours so that probably helped).
I would recommend this place and I'd stay there again.

The park is quite nice but the amenities are a bit tired and there is quite a lot of maintenance required.
You will share the park with a lot of permanent residents.
You can easily walk into Kuranda via a path down to the railway line.

Thank you for your review about our park. Sorry that you thought the amenities were "tired" but it seems you didn't notice the partly renovated showers at the Poolside Unit Block. They are currently under"renovation" with new wall and floor tiles and are just about to be painted. We feel as long as our amenities are clean, we just have to take the time to renovate when cash flow allows. Also, our permanent residents are great, so not sure what the problem is. At the end of the day, they are people like you and me, and they take pride in the park and their vans. Thanks for staying though, hopefully you'll visit again one day.

I stayed in this lovely park for two nights during my visit to Kuranda. First night I stayed in the budget lodge, second In the poolside room.
The lodge is a quaint, wooden, mountain style building with a homely country home feel. It has a central communal open air area with couches, a tv, a full kitchen and communal fridges with shared bathrooms. Each room is private with a lockable door. A basic bed with your own crockery and cutlery provided. For $35 per night it has all you need for a modest and comfortable stay. All needs are met. Value is second to none 😊👌
For those after more of a hotel holiday feel, the poolside cabin was lovely and also value for money. Fully self contained with a very cosy bed and bedding, table and chairs, a bar fridge, cooking and coffee facilities and a private bathroom. Complete with your private internal bathroom and a cute patio right by the pool. Still with that lovely homely feel.
The property is owned by a beautiful down to earth couple who are very warm, welcoming and accommodating. For this I will certainly return.
The property is a short way from town, so if you're on foot and relying on public transport you'll definitly need to scope that out, but with direction from a local I found a lovely little shortcut track through some scrub and along the old train line. Certainly not for those without an adventurous spirit, but for me, I found it romantic and very enjoyable.
Heading back to Brisbane is bittersweet after my wonderful stay in kuranda rainforest accomodation. Thank you for your hospitality.

So pleased we contacted Kuranda Rainforest Accommodation Park when we were planning our Far North Queensland Trip. Great place to leave our motorhome and tow vehicle while we continued on our way with Far North Escapes to the tip and back.
Staff were immensely helpful, and the storage of our vehicles was very reasonable with the added comfort of knowing this was a safe place to leave them after spending a couple of days in the park before joining Far North Escapes.
We would highly recommend this park to anyone, staff where so helpful and the location is terrific for exploring the area.

Our caravan site here was a patch of grass behind the manager's residence so any thoughts about being nestled in the rainforest were quickly dispelled. The site sloped away quickly towards the front of our van, leaving quite a difficult step up for my wife who has a problem with her knee. We shared this area with 2 other vans, and as all grey water was discharged to the ground the area in front of the vans was very muddy and unhealthy.
Toilets (3 male, 2 female and 3 unisex) were not enough for the number of guests. The 3 unisex toilets servicing our area were quite narrow and had no windows or exhaust fans even, so were quite stuffy and stale smelling, and certainly did not have a healthy atmosphere. Our stay was for 3 nights with an option to extend, which we did not take up as we were more than happy to vacate. Very disappointing.

Thank you for your review. If you felt your site had not been the right one for you, please speak to management about moving perhaps. We are only too happy to try and locate you somewhere in the park that you would feel better suited. We do have to clear a few trees to make sites, and it is unfortunate that you did not feel you were in the rainforest. A lot of travellers also collect their grey water in buckets, so you do not need to put your grey water hose on the ground. Maybe that is also an option for you next time. We do have another set of amenities over at our Budget Rooms as well, so you could have used them. We have three sets for the park. We are very busy at this time of year, so it was highly likely our amenities were very busy too, with perhaps a small waiting time. Enjoy the rest of your travels, and any future concerns should be addressed to management if you are not happy with your site..

Decent sites for families planning on being away all day.
Very limited office hours made getting change for laundry and bbqs difficult - also wasn’t expecting to have to pay to use bbq.
A ‘noise complaint’ before 9pm because the toddler was dancing too loudly.
Kids made to feel very unwelcome at the pool - we went up the road and paid to use a different pool so the kids could actually play.
The water wasn’t working on our last morning, but we weren’t notified.

Dear Lauren. Thank you for your review, and I would like to clear a few points up that you made. Firstly, the office is open from 9am to 6pm for shop items, money for washing machines and BBQ's etc... Not sure what times you were looking out, but you have that wrong. The children in the pool were dive bombing and were asked to stop as there were other people in the pool and so it would only be courteous to realise perhaps that is something you may not be able to do . There are signs there as well asking you to refrain from doing that. Also, the children were asked who they were with, as there seemed an excess amount of them that we were unable to figure out who they had checked in with. The noise complaint came from other cabins, when they heard alot of banging and loud noise from the cabin you were friendly with. Management then had to go down and find out what was happening there as well. Again, just general courtesy lacking here. Unfortuantely, we had a burst pipe on the morning you left, which reduced the water pressure, and we had to turn the water off for a short while. Sorry it inconvenienced you packing up!! Safe travels Lauren.

What a fantastic campsite! My start at this campsite was not very good: I wanted to park my camper and broke the back window. The people at the campsite have been incredibly helpful. They were really sweet and helped me take out the glass and close the backside, so I could continue my journey to Cairns. What a service!
In addition, there was a cozy campfire in the evening and they had delicious pizza in the restaurant. Amenities and camp kitchen were neat and tidy. Highly recommended!

+1
One of the oldest (around 130 million years old) rainforests in the world. Try and take the scenic rail up and come down by skyrail or vice versa. The two stops- Barron falls and scenic view with tall trees are breath taking. Final visit to the rain forest and don't forget the forest action tour for 3 hours which gives you a chance to hug a koala( must experience), take an unforgettable tour on an army duck, see the indigenous dance performance followed by their didgeridoo skills and learn how to throw spears and use a boomerang 🪃 this trip was an absolute treat to the soul

Amazing! The whole site was well set out, clean and well maintained. Was lovely waking up in the morning with the kookaburras singing, nestled amongst the rainforest.
Would highly recommend this park!!
The camp kitchen was well equipped and the amenities were clean!
