We had a great time here even though it was sometime ago (2013) I remember our time well. Being the only ones there and we were treated to some great wine and even better meals. At night we retreated to our laid back accommodation to watch red dog over a glass of red and were accompanied by our very own... More

A big thank you to Maryanne & Peter for my relaxing stay at Captains Paddock. The hospitality was superb and even though I was on my own the gentle natured dogs and wonderful hosts ensured that I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The food provided at the café (should be called a restaurant!) is top quality and so are the wines... More

We recently spent a lovely night in the cottage at Captain's Paddock....it was very comfortable, quiet, private and clean. Peter & Maryanne were lovely hosts and it was lovely to receive freshly baked bread and the newspapers in the morning. Cooking facilities are very limited - a bbq out the back would be a nice addition...having said that, Peter &... More

A few minutes drive outside Kingaroy, the Captain's Paddock is a fine restaurant within a vineyard and adjacent to a single-unit B&B. It is run by Peter and Maryanne Eaton and two gentle guard dogs, Merlo (a lookalike for the movie star named 'Red Dog'), and Zell, who likes to nap on his back with four legs pointing up. We... Have been here twice for lunch. Food is lovely. Dogs are wonderful. Service is great. Highly recommend stopping in here for a bit to eat and a wine sampling. The dragon fireplace is an amazing feature.

The best roast night is happening now! Lamb! A great venue and atmosphere with great friends and great hosts - Peter and Maryanne! The place was filled with out of town visitors, here for part of their study and a couple from Brisbane checking out the South Burnett this weekend. Good Red Country food and hospitality at its best!

Recently we stayed at this B&B and really loved it. Very cosy and the café also serve our favourite brand of coffee (Merlo) so had it bought to room for breakfast. The room service food menu looked great and wish we had of not eaten before we arrived there but did manage some dessert. Only problem was the single bed... More

I recently found myself in Kingaroy and due to an evening function needed to stay over night. I found this place a very pleasant alternative to the motels you would otherwise choose in town. It was lovely to arrive in the late afternoon and enjoy a pleasant glass of vino on the balcony of the cafe prior to my function.... More

We have travelled all around Australia, staying in many B&B's and hotels. Despite not actually having planned to stop in Kingaroy we had to do so out of necessity due to flooded roads in the region. We were very pleasantly surprised to discover that the accomodation at Captains Paddock provided the perfect balance of good old fashioned hospitality and a... More

Unfortunately, I have to agree with the person who visited in January 2011. I too chose this place based on the pictures on their website. My husband and I were travelling from Sydney to Townsville in August 2012 and this was the worst overnight stay on our trip. The owner's wife was away at the time so we only had... More

Thank you TJ for your belated post. We are usually grateful for constructive feedback, however on this occasion feel it is a personal attack, which is completely unfounded. The cottage is architecturally designed, with very good air flow and a very functional fireplace. The lighting is quite soft, which may account for the ‘dark’ reference, however ‘dingy ‘ and ‘musty’... More
