Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A very spacious and relaxing homestead that we camped at for two nights in our Modcon camper. We stayed down on the riverbank which was beautiful. I think if you had small kids then stay up the top part of the homestead where there is a bike ramp/track and animals to feed. There is only one shower block which is up the top area of the homestead, so if staying down on the riverbank, you need to drive up. The showers are beautifully hot but only three showers in each of the two blocks, so you need to time it right to avoid line ups, which I had no problem with. There are porta loos throughout which get quite messy!, I don’t know whether there are noise curfews or not but the noise from the young ones having parties was quite insane and went late into the night, so bring earplugs if you don’t want to hear their yelling !, open fires are allowed but bring your own firewood or you can purchase there for $20. Only a 5 minute drive into Kenilworth township . Would stay again

We have now stayed here three times in last Covid 6 months after putting it for many years.
Overall, very comfortable and wife open spaces. Each time we have been there was during holidays or long weekend periods and whisky booked out, you wouldn’t know.
The kids love it and it’s a massive adventure and safe space for them. The BMX track was another massive plus. Please continue to build on it.
Everybody loves the animals and the river. Canoeing is a nice adventure and relaxing.
Amenities are fair.
I reckon a water truck doing a lap of the park once a day would add value to settle the dust from main tracks but that’s knit picking...
We will be back again next winter...

Large grassy areas by the river powered and unpowered. Great swimming spot, dog friendly and family friendly. Helpful staff and beautiful quiet space. Dump spot at the local showgrounds. Heaps of vans at the showgrounds which i don’t understand if you can stay here by the river and with shade. Maybe lack of powered sites ( only 4)Highly recommend beautiful grass sites. Very friendly and accomodating staff.
To the people before us who didn’t clean up after your dog - you are the reason places aren’t pet friendly and you would be first to complain. Grow up and be responsible. Our dog loved this place and we were thankful to have her stay.

I booked and paid for a powered site at Kenilworth in mid Feb 2022 at a cost of $144.

There was a rain event over the period I had booked and Kenilworth Homestead shut the park.

Despite many attempts on my part requesting a refund, as I have no availability to rebook within 2022, Kenilworth Homestead have still not issued a refund.

This is ridiculous, they were unable to supply the services I booked & paid for yet they still haven’t refunded my money.

I and many friends who caravan are perplexed by Kenilworth Homesteads lack of appropriate behaviour in this matter, no doubt this type of behaviour will seriously make many a camper / Caravaner reconsider booking with them.

Great spot , amazing bike track , lovely river, …. but. WAY overcrowded! basically NO AMENITIES , which is ridiculous given the $$$ being made!

We also visited the Terra Firma BBQ which is seperate to the homestead , that was an over hyped super expensive BBQ featuring not much food , over cooked dry meat , and insanely expensive , and sorry an old dry chorizo sausage with grass pesto in a stale bun isn’t really a breakfast offering. The chefs at Terra firms might be ‘hatted chefs’ but they don’t know the first thing about catering for numbers , really ordinary. 2/10

The Insta crowd PR for it and them looks amazing , nice PR but don’t be fooled by the lovely images the product delivery and experience is poor. If it was a restaurant you wouldn’t be back, if it was a mining camp the workers would have all walked off the job and demanded new caterers:(

best tip , BYO food , toilet and shower , and don’t expect a small
Crowd as half of Brisbane is here, maybe try and do mid week.

Kenilworth Homestead has a very beautiful landscape and pleasantly quiet.
However I'm only giving 3 stars due to the severity of dust with cars constantly driving around the camp site which can make it a little frustrating.
We had to camp right next to the road due to the limited choices and the place was only booked at half capacity.
I would recommend Kenilworth Homestead for families of older children (we have 2 under 5) as they had some excellent activities set up.
The river is beautiful but slippery when walking on the rocks into the water. I would definitely recommend bringing along floating devices to relax in the cool water on a hot day.
I will give a note in regards to the animals. Another mum informed me on our first night that her child was bitten by the donkey, then on our 3 day our eldest was bitten by a pony. I'm sure they were just sick of being petted so just a heads up.

Overall Kenilworth is very aesthetically pleasing.

As a regular camper I would have to say this is one of the Worst camp facilities around, Overpriced for the facilities. Amenities are in a state of disrepair, locks broken on every door, poor water pressure, Dirty toilets and sinks, they over book the campgrounds hence you are camping on top of each other. Four powered sites however 10 vans parked there. !! Overpriced for the facilities, they seriously need to spend a dollar on this place. Kenilworth is a beautiful town however we cannot recommend staying here.

Just a suggestion to maybe have a line/queue when having the leap of faith activity? Normally we are used to a first come first served basis for activities but that was not the case with leap of faith activity as there was no line/queue. It was a bit of a free for all and kids that were there first ended up having to wait ages to get a go. There are always a few kids who get petrified up there , freeze and take ages to jump. The fact that there are only 4 small harnesses and 4 medium harnesses is immaterial/irrelevant as only one can go at a time so the most harnesses you would need would be about 2 in each size. Apart from that, everything else was ok.

Kenilworth Homestead is a beautiful place to camp. Lots of green grass well maintained, camp fires allowed, bike track for kids, canoe hire and good phone service.Mostly unpowered sites. I would highly recommend going there.

What a great family holiday, easter weekend so many activities planned, kids loved the creek and bike tracks. Stay away if you don’t want a crowd. We had no problems plenty of room for groups to come. Lovely staff, very helpful, will definitely be back.

Having a powered site now days is more luxury than really needed. To get back to grass roots camping, an esky with ice should last a weekend, plenty of battery or rechargeable light sources are available (cheap) and double as emergency home lighting. A 4 person tent can be bought from under $100 or up to the skies the limit. And a blow up mattress is the cheapest start to bedding. The single burner gas stoves are the cheapest way to start the kitchen off, and come in handy as a spare as your kitchen grows. Depending on you child's age or skills with water I would most likely camp on the larger paddock below the toilet block. If the kids are older and you don't mind a longer walk to the loos camp on the bottom paddock. As you camp more look at weather it is worth buying or bringing all the powered gadgets. Best thing no power means no technology and it makes us all have to use the grey matter more. I progressed out of the tent around 10 years ago to a camper trailer, but for quick over night trips the tent and minimal gear comes out. The town of Kenilworth also is worth a visit, ice cream at the cheese factory has been a favorite with my kids. Regards Danny

As long as the homestead is open the nights you want to stay then I wouldn't see a problem with staying more than one night? In regards to a train I agree with the above comment, you will need to hire a car or try to link up with others attending. It is 50 or so minutes away from the closest train station and a car is a necessity. Enjoy the wedding :)
