Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Overcharging on drinks and took wrong order on food , left me regretting the visit . Wont be back. More expensive than Sydney prices. When questioned, no apologies, to fix order. Seemed to be taking advantage of travellers, which Is short sighted .

Staying at the caravan park we were advised that a courtesy bus would pick us up & take us to the hotel & return us when we were finished. From the great service provided by the female driver, we entered a great country hotel. Beer was cold. We ordered filet Mignon steak & it was beautiful cooked. A must visit when in Julia creek.

My husband & I decided to stop here for lunch. Great variety on the menu & meals very generous. The amenities were clean & tidy as well as the hotel. The staff & locals where very friendly, had a great time. It’s an older style pub which we both like in the outback towns, seems very popular with the locals as well.

The very last thing I'd expected when lunching here was a French chef. But I met him (he's from Toulon) and ordered a Pesto Pasta ($26.00) and Chicken Carbonara ($26.00), although there were "the usual suspects" (burgers, schnitzels, steak sandwiches) all competing with ubiquitous and fearless flies for our food. But our food was as beautiful as it was plentiful. It's an old-fashioned hotel with wide overhanging upstairs verandahs and two or three steep steps up from the footpath (flood avoidance?). Inside there is a bistro near the bar. The noise levels at times can be a little off-putting (I blame their continuous exposure to agricultural and other machinery) but there's no doubting the genuineness and warmth of their greeting and service. No wonder its alternative name is "The Top Hotel".

After a long drive called into the pub for a meal. We were not disappointed. The menu had many choices as well as 8 specials of the day. It was difficult to decide. We both went for one of the specials. They were both large very tasty and had a delicious salad not your normal lettuce and tomato. Highly recommend. I wish all country pubs offered such good quality meals.

Ordered three meals , received two meals only , ask four times where the other meal was and was treated by a so called manager with twenty years experience at the age of mid thirties lol , told was not my business but the meal we ordered before ours . Asked where I was from , who cares if I am local or not as my bro in law is .Cannot organise a kitchen let alone here own discipline as a so called manager , was asked to voice my opinion and you walked away , my bro in law is a local and I am a guest and did spend a lot of money in your establishment to be treated with your ill disciplined attitude that you have in vocabulary you useless excuse to be a manager , threaten me with been a key board warrior when I tried to talk to you you didn’t want to listen , very good standards that you set for the rest of your clientele let alone your staff who were also thought you were such a joke , which you are , don’t worry we won’t spend another dime in your hotel compared what we spent last year and I am pretty sure after speaking with the rest of the locals they won’t either .....

If you enjoy old pubs with a bit of character this will probably suit you. Great service, great meals and some characters at the bar. Someone said, not inviting from outside, I thought the absolute opposite. Everyone to their own.

We love visiting drinking and dining in traditional outback pubs andwhen we saw that this hotel advertised double rooms with ensuites we thought to give it a try. But sticking a shower cubicle and a pedestal in what is already a rather small bedroom doesn't quite work but is quite an experience
